As the title says - what do you honestly eat on an average day?

Thought I'd post today's as it's quite different from my other one.

Breakfast: takeaway soya latte and a slice of bread with cream cheese (was rushing to an early appointment).

Elevenses: takeaway whole-milk latte and Greggs Nacho chilli cheese slice.

Lunch: scrambled egg on white roll from my local greasy spoon.

Interspersed with quite a lot of crisps, chocolate (some posh, some cheap Easter egg), three Assam teas with soy milk. An apple. Lots of water.

Will have something with veg for dinner, probably pasta with a simple oil and Parmesan sauce.

RedRiverShore · 18/04/2019 17:07

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 18/04/2019 17:11

Breakfast - toast and Nutella
Lunch - jacket potato with tuna or beans
Dinner - chilli with rice

I binge on way too much sugary crap in between meals and am a good 5 stone overweight.

FurrySlipperBoots · 18/04/2019 17:23

Today I had a whole, small avocado mashed with 3 garlic cloves and a dash of Tabasco, with half a small bag of spinach and a head of romaine lettuce. For afterwards I had a banana and a 'Rocky' biscuit. I'm not sure if I'll want anything later or not. If I do it'll probably be something on 'cheddar cheese and pepper' English muffins as they need using.

Stravapalava · 18/04/2019 17:25

There is no "average" day for me. I just eat what I fancy. Sometimes that's loads of fruit & veg, sometimes it's crap all day. I don't really drink alcohol, but I do drink a lot of tea, coffee and water.

flamingnoravera · 18/04/2019 17:30

I wake at 5. Make a cup of tea and some muesli with full fat milk and some runny honey.

I eat a handful of jelly babies during the day.

Sometimes I cook a meal if I have company, chicken curry and dal with rice. Other times I graze from the fridge. Hummus usually with whatever's handy. And wine, a few glasses.

rangermag · 18/04/2019 17:43

Today
2 weetabix with full fat milk
Raspberry and dark chocolate rice cake
Few licks of cake batter
Piece of granary bread with butter and marmite
Twice baked jacket potato (with onion, sweet corn, and cheese in)
2 squares dark chocolate
Tagliatelle bolognese and salad
1 real tea, 3 decaf tea, 1 real coffee, 3 herbal teas, glass of sparkling water, however much of the pint of water I take to bed I drink

Yesterday was similar

2 weetabix
2 choco Leibniz
Cheese sandwich on granary
Banana
Easter biscuit (small homemade one not the giant ones in shops)
2 chocolates
Small steak, three halves of twice baked jackets, broccoli
Similar drinks to today

This is pretty typical of my everyday diet.

Too many carbs and not enough fruit/veg probably. Also not enough to drink considering I am breastfeeding but I have a bit of a aversion to cold drinks left over from pregnancy.

I’m a size 6-8 normally, back to an 8 12weeks pp but currently VERY wobbly.

BallsOfFluff · 18/04/2019 17:57

Ooo forgot to add, I'm a size 0.

5ft 3 and 44kg.

Xiaoxiong · 18/04/2019 17:58

Yesterday I had:

B - coffee, baguette rubbed with garlic and olive oil topped with tomato and salt

L - ham, cheese, green salad with avocado, peppers, onions, tomato, piece of baguette

Snack - an ice cream

D - Persian rice with lentils and onions, shredded chicken, yoghurt, chopped salad, 2 glasses Prosecco with crisps, 1 large glass wine with dinner, 2 squares dark choc.

We're abroad at the moment, but it's not too far off - probably have a G&T instead of Prosecco before dinner if we were at home.

happyhillock · 18/04/2019 18:09

Breakfast
2 slices of toast with boiled egg or cornflakes, 2 cups of tea
Lunch
Usually a sandwich, ham, cheese, egg mayo with tomato and yoghurt
Tonight's dinner
Cottage pie(shop bought) peas and brocolli

Later i'll have crisps or chocolate
Drink a lot of tea during the day

sparklyglitterball · 18/04/2019 20:37

I'm trying to shift last few pounds of baby weight (and hopefully some more) at 5 months post partum.
Breakfast was porridge with blueberries and grapes, had lunch out which was tuna and avocado salad, dinner was oven baked salmon, gnocchi, loads of veg and a creamy mushroom sauce. Will have a little ice cream later. Am breastfeeding so hopefully the calories burned from that will cancel out the ice cream calories 🤔

Marmite27 · 18/04/2019 20:46

Today. Slice of medium 50/50 toasted with 7g lurpak and a clementine for breakfast. 150ml of Skimmed Milk for 3 cups of tea. Salad, hot and spicy chicken, honey mustard dressing and a pack of Melba toast for lunch with an apple after. Dinner an Asda chicken jalfrezi ready meal and 30g bag popadoms.

Yesterday was the same until dinner which was lemon and herb chicken bake (with peppers) buttered new potatoes, broccoli and green beans, and a fry’s Orange cream.

Tomorrow is the hairy bikers one pot spicy pork.

Samoture · 18/04/2019 21:17

Breakfast - 2 black coffees, don't usually eat breakfast on a work day. Weekends is usually cereal or avocado toast.

Lunch - usually a sandwich. If I can be bothered I make a salad with lots of crunchy bits in like sugar snaps and cauliflower florets.

Dinner - tonight we had kale & quinoa burgers, roast root veg, asparagus & peas. Tomorrow I'm doing new potatoes in vegan 'cheesy' sauce with salad. Usually a glass of wine or a real ale with dinner.

IckyTummy · 18/04/2019 21:32

9:00 Cup of tea
10:30 Belvita or a Granola bar
1:00 Sandwich (tuna/egg/peanut butter), packet of crisps, cheese string or an apple
7:00 Dinner (pasta/chilli/risotto/taco with some form of meat or protein) - this is always a fairly large portion
8:30 Crisps and sweets (I need to stop this, but my willpower is minimal)
9:00 Cup of tea

Fortheloveofscience · 18/04/2019 21:51

Today I had:

Breakfast: bowl of porridge with whole milk and sugar and a coffee with whole milk.

Snack: danish maple pecan pastry

Lunch: pasta with artichoke and tomatoes, packet of crisps and 2 apples.

Snack: M&S sushi (yellow stickered Blush)

Dinner: vegetable enchiladas with mozzarella.

In my defense, I’m pregnant and constantly starving.

rosewater20 · 18/04/2019 21:52

In the morning I have a coffee with oat or almond milk and then try not to eat until lunchtime. If I am ravenous then I will have one or two eggs with a small salad or whatever fresh vegetables are around.

For lunch a big salad with some protein. Today it was leftover roast chicken with raw kale and cabbage, strawberries, goat cheese a bit of pesto and chopped nuts and olive oil. Normally, I use whatever I have to hand, and I always have fish (either tuna, fresh salmon or frozen fish) in the house for lunch or dinners where I am not sure what to cook.

For dinner tonight it is more leftover roast chicken, wild rice, chickpeas, swiss chard and asparagus.

I try to keep the earlier part of the day healthy and low calorie so if I want a treat or decide to go out to dinner I can without worrying about not having had a healthy day.

cricketmum84 · 18/04/2019 21:57

Today was quite an average day for me. I had grapefruit and strawberries for breakfast. Lunch was quarter of a crustless broccoli quiche I made yesterday. For dinner I made a quorn and chickpea chilli and had it with salad, there was meant to be a baked sweet potato, I microwaved it instead of baking it and it became the texture of a clog.
I've just had a few small pieces of chocolate as a treat as I'm very low on my ww points today.

rosewater20 · 18/04/2019 21:57

@Xiaoxiong how did you make your Persian rice? It sounds delicious.

SparrowBo · 18/04/2019 22:05

Some of these are so little food!!
If you are one of those who skip breakfast and have fruit and yoghurt for lunch, are you underweight?

There is pretty disordered eating listed here.

MoreSlidingDoors · 18/04/2019 22:33

Nope. I have lost about 3 stone and have another 2 to go.

Eating less of the right foods now is undoing years of eating too much of the wrong foods.

ShitUsername · 18/04/2019 22:39

Too much sweet stuff and not nearly enough fruit and veg Blush

rosewater20 · 18/04/2019 23:13

@SparrowBo I skip breakfast because I feel better overall when I do. If I am hungry, then I will, of course, eat something. I try to be conscious of what I eat. I enjoy eating, but I also enjoy feeling and looking good and so, for the most part, I eat fresh non packaged foods that include grass-fed meats, wild fish and lots of in-season fruit and veg.

There are times when I am craving ice cream or cake and cookies, and I will eat those items when I am craving them, but I try to make sure that the rest of my food choices from that day have been healthy.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 19/04/2019 10:35

I'm a hungry Horace. Grin
I just adore my food. Its what it's there for, to eat
I'll easily go through a full packet of biscuits with one coffee, no messing..

DarlingNikita · 19/04/2019 11:38

Fortheloveofscience, I don't think you need a 'defence'. That doesn't sound like an excessive amount of food, or dreadful types of food, at all.

SparrowBo, I agree, there's some serious undereating going on on here. I'm astonished at all the people who don't eat breakfast,
or seem to have one meal a day. I don't know how you all keep going.

feelingverylazytoday · 19/04/2019 11:51

Breakfast - 1 slice of wholemeal toast, half a tin of beans, 1 poached egg/omelette
Lunch - cheese or houmous sandwich, salad
Dinner - something vegetarian like lentil stew, brown rice and vegetables or vegetarian chilli
Snacks - wholemeal toast and mqrmalade or porridge
Drinks - winter about 5 cups of coffee. Summer - lemon green tea, peppermint infusion or water.
I have been drinking over the last few weeks but I'm going to knock it on the head (again) because it's giving me hot flushes.
I eat like this most of the time, (not over the last 2 weeks though), I eat pretty much the same things every day, it makes the whole food thing straightforward. Exercise for about 3 hours a day. I've lost 5 stones over the last 3 years and would like to lose another stone.
