As the title says - what do you honestly eat on an average day?

OP posts:
SheldonSaysSo · 16/04/2019 15:08

For breakfast I would have beans on toast, poached egg, homemade pancakes or toast and fruit. Sometimes if I have a busy morning this will become brunch.

If I eat lunch it can be anything from leftovers, cheese and crackers to a sandwich and fruit. If I don't have lunch I'll snack around 4pm and anything is fair game!

Dinner will be pasta dish, roast dinner, stir fry, pizza etc. I normally eat chocolate most days either in the day or after dinner.

Expressedways · 16/04/2019 15:08

Usually:
3 cups of black coffee, 1 skim milk cappuccino, no breakfast unless it’s the weekend
Lunch is a salad with bread or a sandwich
Occasionally a cookie mid afternoon if there are any in the office
Dinner is a proper meal and varies but is too often takeout, often accompanied by wine

churchthecat · 16/04/2019 15:09

Today:
2 scrambled eggs 2 bacon
Cheese and pickle sandwich
And having fishcakes, new potatoes and asparagus for lunch.

Yesterday:
Toast and peanut butter
Onken grain yoghurt thing, 2 crackers and brie
Tuna pasta and salad

Same sort of stuff all week, throw in a bottle of red and maybe a pizza at the weekend.

Fazackerley · 16/04/2019 15:10

today: piece of toast and peanut butter
lunch: risotto with asparagus courgettes peas and green beans. Slice of banana bread. All homemade but I eat far too many carbs and am a stone overweight because of it.

brightyellowsunshine · 16/04/2019 15:10

Typical day for me

2 boiled eggs
One slice of dry toast

Tuna salad (with light mayo, whole tin of tuna) or a big fruit salad with low fat yoghurt.

Snacks, a banana and Apple throughout day/sometimes a couple of ryvitia and slices of wafer thin ham.

Dinner

Fish or chicken and a big heap of steamed veg or salad, probably five nights out of seven with some form of sauce. I don't eat bread rice potoato with my evening meal which frankly bores me!

2 litres of water a day, five black coffees and a Diet Coke.

Weekends eat out a bit, drink quite a bit, do what I like.

I do four exercise classes a week to counter act the naughtiness at weekends.

Nuttyaboutnutella · 16/04/2019 15:11

In general:
Breakfast is usually porridge with banana and honey (in the winter mostly) Weetabix with banana and honey, toastx2 with jam/marmalade or muesli with yoghurt and fruit

Lunch: in the summer, I eat more salads with tuna/salmon/cheese, occasionally ham or chicken. In the winter, homemade soup with bread. Other lunches can be sandwich, quiche, egg on toast, omelette.

Dinner: family meal so spaghetti Bolognese, curry, pasta, sausage and mash, etc.

However, at the moment I'm pregnant and appetite is all over the place. I eat quite healthy meals, my problem is portion size and choosing garlic bread instead of salad with pasta (for example) as it's easier to throw in the oven. I also have a major sweet tooth so always snacking on biscuits, chocolate, cake etc.

After the baby, I have about 3 stone to lose. I know my problem areas so need to focus on these. I do actually enjoy salad, fruit and vegetables but I also love chocolate. I don't really drink fizzy drinks, but a lot of squash and tea.

SinglePringle · 16/04/2019 15:12

Today is a very typical day:

Coffee when I woke

Breakfast: egg white omelette with feta
Snack: few grapes
Lunch: sashimi and seaweed. Miso soup
Dinner: chicken and steamed spinach (will be)

3 x cups of tea.

MotherOfTheNoise · 16/04/2019 15:13

Endless cups of tea throughout the day.

Two pieces of homemade (generously) sliced toast with butter and marmite and a banana.

Mid morning a slice of cake.

Lunch is usually a toastie or a wrap with some salads bits and a bag of crisps with an apple.

Some biscuits mid afternoon.

Tea is something like spag Bol, roast dinner, curry, fish pie, stir fry, risotto.

(At some point I will pretend I'm not snarfuling a handful of chocolate out of the fridge Grin)

SansasSnatch · 16/04/2019 15:14

Blackandpurple · 16/04/2019 15:24

Ive just been on a 7 mile run and im trying to lose half a stone. Been injured and haven’t been able to run so feeking lazy and podgy round the waist!

Lost5stone · 16/04/2019 15:28

Well I'm 9 weeks pregnant with nausea and a sweet tooth, so:
2 weetabix
Banana
About 9 bourbons
3 packs of strawberry laces
Blueberry muffin

😂

I wasnt like this before pregnancy, I promise!

theSnuffster · 16/04/2019 15:29

Coffee first thing. I can't eat breakfast, just can't face it and I'm never hungry.
Another coffee at 9 when I get to work.
Very occasionally I'll have a small snack like a cereal bar if I'm hungry.
Lunch at 12 is usually a sandwich/ wrap/ crackers.
Coffee at 3.30 after the school run.
If the kids don't have clubs we eat tea at around 5.30-6. Things like jacket potato, chilli, quiche, curry, chicken pie, pasta, enchiladas etc.
Then in the evening I have zero control and tend to eat crisps or dip some biscuits in a cup of tea.
If the kids have clubs they eat their tea early and OH and I tend to eat late at maybe 8.30-9 which usually means rubbish food like a takeaway or frozen pizza because we can't be bothered with cooking that late.

happypotamus · 16/04/2019 15:35

On a work day:
Breakfast at 7am: brioche roll or 2
Lunch anytime between 12.30 and 4: microwave meal
Drink very little of anything, probably about 1L in total

On not work days:
breakfast: slice of toast
lunch: wrap or soup
dinner: DH is now vegan so often curry or chilli or similar
snacks: biscuits and chocolate throughout the day to keep me going
drinks: cup of tea in the morning, water or warm squash whenever

TheZeppo · 16/04/2019 15:36

cloudhopping I eat like you!

I’m interested to know if people are skinny/normal/overweight with these diets. I’d be starving based on some of your diets Blush

I’m average weight for my height. Size 10-12. I eat a lot of pasta and drink a lot of wine Grin

Lilylauren98 · 16/04/2019 15:39

Tea & Toast with jam
Bike to work & down tonnes of water
Tea at work 9am ish
Tea at work 11am + cereal bar of some sort
Cashews & go home for a sandwich if I can be bothered
Tea at around 4pm
Tea when I get home 5:20ish
Dinner tonight is Ceasar Salad, last night we had a stir fry.
Sometimes a yoghurt for dessert. But would usually rather have another cuppa & some biscuits.
Other dinners for this week: burritos, pasta with pesto & chorizo, curry, spicey bean burgers, kievs etc

Try my best to do roasted wedges rather than chips. And to eat cashews rather than crisps.

caperplips · 16/04/2019 15:39

today I have had:

Breakfast: mug of filter coffee with low fat milk, 3 sesame rye crispbreads, real butter, small sliced banana on top, small glass freshly squeezed juice

11am: small mug filter coffee, 1 chocolate oatie biscuit

Lunch: a box of salad from the very nice deli next door to my office. I think it feels healthy but is laden with calories. They do a choice of about 6 things and in the box they put a serving spoon of each - all very well flavoured with Indian or middle eastern type spices. Today I had spicy cubes of potato, raw broccoli in a wasabi-ish dessing, roast cauliflower with other spices, chickpeas with aubergine and spices and bulger wheat with lots of herbs and a bottle of sparkling water

Dinner: High Tea! In other words breakfast for dinner - sausage, bacon, black and white pudding - all grilled. Oven cooked hash browns, fried eggs and baked beans. White buttery toast for those who want it.

Wine - perhaps but probably not tonight!

This is pretty representative

Yesterday I was off work and had

same breakfast as today

Lunch: homemade roasted tomato soup (amazing!), rolls hot out of the oven for dh and dd

Afternoon: filter coffee and a slice of homemade banana bread just out of the oven

Dinner: traditional spaghetti carbonara, green salad, 2 small pieces of garlic bread. 2 glasses of organic pinot grigio

Cookiedoughforbreakfast · 16/04/2019 15:40

Breakfast mon-fri is normally one piece of brown toast, with butter or cheese or a fried egg, cooked in turmeric (purely for health reasons) Breakfast sat-sun is a full English on one of the days and bacon and beans on toast on the other. Always 2 cups of strong black, proper coffee ever day.

Lunch is usually a sandwich on brown with ham, cheese or tuna mayo or a jacket potato with plain tuna and coleslaw or cottage cheese or with beans and cheese. Always have a couple of pieces of chocolate after lunch.

Dinner varies a lot, but most weeks include a tofu laksa (my favourite), salmon with wedges and veg , roast on a sun, chicken with cous cous and halloumi, curry, one takeaway and a roast on a Sunday 9 times out of 10.

Camomile tea with honey in the weekday evenings and a few glasses of wine fri-sun, probably working out to a couple of bottles.

I need more veg in my life and possibly a little less wine at the weekends, but overall, not too bad.

Oh and just to clarify, my username is purely fantasy Grin

caperplips · 16/04/2019 15:40

I am 49, 5ft 9" size 12

ScatteredMama82 · 16/04/2019 15:41

breakfast is usually a glass of OJ, a cup of tea and a cereal bar

mid-morning tea and a bit of toast

lunch, sandwich or soup, yoghurt, crisps

afternoon some fruit and another cup of tea

dinner: whatever really - pasta, baked potatoes, fish & veg.

I don't drink anything like enough water, but I do drink gallons of tea!

soulrunner · 16/04/2019 15:41

I honestly don’t have an average day but I probably average 2000-2500 cals per day. I eat a nutrient dense diet but like my wine and treats. Athletic size 10. Age ‘ right side of 40’. I do a fair bit of exercise (40-50k trail running pw plus 2-4 strength sessions) but my job is 100% sedentary.

80sMum · 16/04/2019 15:49

On an typical day:
A mug of black coffee with no sugar
About 30g of shredded wheat
About 150ml double cream
About 100ml of whole milk
A handful of berries (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries)
One or two slices of cheese on toast
A mixed salad, with fish or cheese
2 mugs of green tea
A large chocolate chip chewy cookie
A mug of black decaf coffee with no sugar

I've no idea how many calories that is, but probably quite a lot because of the cheese and cream.

RavenLG · 16/04/2019 15:57

When I'm being good.

Breakfast
Greek Yoghurt with berries
Coffee

Lunch
Soup or Salad

Dinner
Something like chicken and cous cous with veggies, or a stir fry etc.

I'll also have a coffee around 3pm and maybe some nuts / crackers in the evening.

Sweet Chilli Coated Peanuts
Cereal Bar
Coffee

Lunch
Sandwich with 2 packets of crisps
Coffee
4 choc digestive biscuits

Dinner
Pasta Bake with looooads of cheese
Probably some fudge and more biscuits, some chocolate, or nuts.

managedmis · 16/04/2019 15:58

nelsonmuntzslingshot · 16/04/2019 15:59
