As the title says - what do you honestly eat on an average day?

OP posts:
OhTheRoses · 19/04/2019 18:18

WW - so far today:
Two of toast, no butter with grilled tomatoes
Salad with two tsps Hellmans light, lemon juice and a tbs grated cheddar
One g&t
Dinner will be roast chicken, salad, low fat coleslaw and a 4 baby new pots.
One g&t

Should come in under points. Have also had two teas and two coffees.

Chickenwing · 19/04/2019 18:20

B - cereal and a cup of tea
L - Sandwhich or soup
D - pasta, curry, burgers ..etc

I also snack. Will have something sweet after dinner every night (usually chocolate)

We have a takeaway every Friday and normally Gregs or cafe on a Saturday morning.

Batsypatsy · 19/04/2019 18:22

Usually black decaff coffee and then porridge with a spoon of low sugar jam for a late breakfast. For dinner at the moment hm stew and jacket potato or hm shepherds pie with microwaved mixed veg or wraps with chicken, rice, mixed leaves and grated cheese and sour cream or similar, once a week fish and chips and mushy peas. A snack later of a slice of toast and butter or a pack of crisps or a couple of biscuits. Lots of mugs of black decaff coffee and a cold infused fruit tea., sometimes a small glass of lemonade.

MollyYouInDangerGirl · 19/04/2019 18:31

I cant eat early in the morning so I either skip breakfast or eat it at about 10.30/11am.
If I do eat breakfast I'll have either plain unsweetened soy yoghurt with honey and fruit, sometimes with plain granola added in or a homemade smoothie

Lunch I have homemade bolognese/heck chicken sausages with rice and broccoli/a subway salad if I'm trying to be good/a supermarket meal deal if I didn't have time to pack anything the night before

Tea I'll have something like chilli/spaghetti bol/5% fat burgers/prawn and chorizo stir fry/vegetable quesadillas/steak and homemade chips

I dont always have pasta/rice with the above meals, I sometimes just have broccoli on the side or something

Evenings are where the wheels come off and I've been known to eat many many calories through boredom, usually crisps/chocolate

I always have lots of cups of tea and coffee throughout the day but as I dont put sugar in them I dont feel bad about them

Ellapaella · 19/04/2019 19:51

Don't usually eat breakfast - have 2 cups of tea when I get up
Lunch - sandwich or salad, piece of fruit and a biscuit.
Handful of nuts mid afternoon snack and maybe a banana.
Dinner - whatever I cook for family. Yoghurt for pudding.
I try not to eat after 7pm if possible.

FedUpOfBrexit · 19/04/2019 20:16

All these people who don't have breakfast or only have one meal a day, I'd be interested to know if they feed their kids the same kind of diet?

startalovetrain · 19/04/2019 20:21

I usually skip breakfast and have black coffee instead

Lunch is either full fat Greek yoghurt with some raspberries, almond butter and dark choc grated over the top or a Caesar salad without the croutons.

Dinner I aim for meat and veggies so might be chicken thighs and cheesy broccoli, or sometimes bacon sausage and egg.

Snacks are nuts, occasionally a protein bar or a dollop of cream in my coffee.

I'm trying to low carb to lose some weight and get my food addiction under control. I'm currently over 18st and my "before" diet was:

Breakfast: bacon sandwich followed by some kind of pastry/cookie

Snacks of crisps/choc

Lunch: cheese and onion or sausage rolls, or pre packed sushi. Sometimes shop bought sandwiches or pasta.

Dinner: freezer beige buffet - chicken nuggets/oven pizza with chips, or a full pack of fresh pasta with Dolmio and lashings of cheese. Usually followed by yet more chocolate and sometimes a full pack of jam or bake well tarts!

My binge eating is finally getting under control, but you asked for honesty!

notharryssally · 19/04/2019 20:30

Protein shake with coconut milk first thing (for blood sugar, I'm not a body builder lol)

Peanut butter on toast mid morning

Fish finger sandwich for lunch, some salad, glass of vegetable juice

Shake mid afternoon

Dinner (standard fare, curries, pasta etc) with fruit for pudding

Toast and a shake

Ellapaella · 19/04/2019 20:31

@FedUpOfBrexit I don't eat breakfast. I am a grown adult who can make her own choices. I don't feel like eating in the morning so I don't.
All 3 of my children have breakfast. Why do you ask?

FedUpOfBrexit · 19/04/2019 20:36

I'm not criticising your choices I'm just wondered if you fed your children the same as yourself and whether you think a breakfast/dinner is important for kids?

Ellapaella · 19/04/2019 20:41

Yes absolutely- they are always hungry anyway in the morning. Also I think it helps them concentrate better at school etc. I just feel slightly nauseous first thing in the morning and not very hungry and prefer to wait until later to eat.

MoreSlidingDoors · 19/04/2019 20:57

Children are still GROWING. Hmm

As it happens my night owl daughter follows her night owl mother. She rarely wants breakfast until late morning, barely touches her packed lunch till after school and eats the veggies on her plate before anything else. She has yogurt almost every day, like me. She likes fruit more than I do, and she eats meat, which i don’t. I generally just add a bit of carb to whatever protein and veg we’re having for her. But it’s the last thing to go from her plate.

flamingnoravera · 19/04/2019 21:38

I don't get why anyone assumes that my eating habits are those of my children. If I'm looking after children (I'm a respite foster carer) or my DS is visiting they get three meals a day, I cook for them and with them, we eat healthy.

If I'm on my own, which I am at the moment, I eat very little. It's always been my way.

Decormad38 · 19/04/2019 21:43

Bagel and honey for breakfast with cuppa
Cup of coffee
Satsuma and a plum
Moroccan chicken soup lunch
Banana
Some random haribos I found
A wedge of brie and grapes
Gin and tonic
Glass of red wine both at pub
Homemade curry from last night with added roast chicken
Portion of rice
Nat yoghurt, a strawberry and honey

butterry · 19/04/2019 22:25

Due to health reasons I usually eat one meal every 2 days, in the afternoon or early evening.

I follow a keto diet with minimal carbs from green veg. I have fish, seafood or meat cooked in coconut oil with green veg followed by some nuts, seeds, berries and cream.

My diet and way of eating has been approved by my consultant as it's dramatically improved my condition and allowed me to stop medication.

stayinghappy · 19/04/2019 22:34

Breakfast -
I had a massive bowl of shredded think prob 5 x the portion weights suggested on the box.
3 cups of decaf tea Grin

Snack -
banana, glass of squash

Lunch -
grainy brown bread lots of it, massive chunk of cheese x3 , kettle chip crisps prob 1/4 of a big bag, 4 cherry tomatoes, pickle, 3 slices of Ham, decaf tea

Snack-
2 strawberries ( that all there that was left) a couple of handfuls of blueberries. A lot more decaf tea

Dinner -
fish and chips from the chip shop, with home cooked peas, plus a glass of the hard stuff -Thames tap water

My arteries are crying today. I've given up biscuits etc, but I think I'm overdoing the savoury junk instead.

ShabbyAbby · 19/04/2019 22:53

Coffee first thing
Porridge, yoghurt or a piece of toast once I'm properly awake

A cold drink, something fizzy or a smoothie on the hop usually
Maybe some supermarket sushi if I'm hungry and out or a few crackers with cheese spread, but only 2-3x a week

Mid afternoon crash. Coffee. A small snack like some salted peanuts. Sometimes chocolate or a piece of fruit.

Dinner. Pasta and pesto, tuna pasta bake, fish pie, shepherds pie, or fishfingers beans and waffles. Usually with some steamed veg.
Or a roast dinner.

I'll usually eat some leftovers from dinner before bed. Or if there aren't any leftovers, some crisps or pickles.

Passthecake30 · 19/04/2019 23:10

On a work day

Big bowl of museli, fruit and seeds
Banana, grapes
Hot choc
Ham/tuna salad, crackers
Handful nuts, pear/plum/satsuma
Couple of biscuits/random cake or choc as it's always someone's birthday/holiday etc. This is my downfall...
Lasagne/sausage and mash/fahitas/pasta/omelette etc

At the weekend I eat less snacks but also less fruit and salad and more carbs.

FedUpOfBrexit · 20/04/2019 06:49

FlaminNora I didn't assume your children's diet was the same that's why I asked

NerrSnerr · 20/04/2019 07:18

Yesterday I had

Breakfast
A innocent smoothie (a berry flavour) I bought when out and about

Lunch
Cheese sandwich and cucumber

Tea
Pasta and mozzarella

Snack
Rocket ice lolly
My daughter's left over ice cream!

purplereindeer · 20/04/2019 07:27

Breakfast - about six cups of coffee (I have a four month old)

Lunch - sandwich/cheese on toast, fruit and yogurt.

Dinner - bolognaise, chilli and rice, curries.

I'm just around the top of a healthy weight for my height.

Thatsnotmyotter · 20/04/2019 08:29

These threads are always hilarious. Most MNers seem to survive on grilled salmon, coffee and fresh air.

Yesterday I had...
A coffee with a splash of milk
2 slices of toast (one with marmite, one with lemon curd)
Two wraps with quorn, salad and cheese, a packet of chicken crisps, a caramac breakaway bar, and muller corner. (Post 90 minute turbo session in the sun - I was starving!)
A Diet Coke
Tuna pesto pasta with broccoli and spinach, a bottle of cider and half a bar of galaxy. (After a 2 hour hike, my portion was pretty big!)
Two Jaffa cakes.

I probably ate less fruit and veg than I typically do yesterday but otherwise that’s fairly representative of a normal day. I’m slim and have visible abdominal muscles. Just goes to show you can eat pretty much anything you like if you burn enough calories.

IntoValhalla · 20/04/2019 08:36

Yesterday looked like this:
-Cup of tea and a hot cross bun

  • Greggs sausage roll midmorning Blush
  • Tuna salad baguette
  • Dinner was meant to be bbq pork ribs, with rice and salad but I wasn’t really feeling it, so didn’t eat much.
  • DH brought me McDonald’s nuggets when he came home from the climbing wall Blush

Apparently this current womb fruit (DC3) is messing with my appetite a bit Confused

wheresmymojo · 20/04/2019 08:36

Breakfast is usually a large caramel macchiato and a kitkat.

Lunch is a cheese sandwich, packet of crisps, chocolate bar and Diet Coke.

Dinner is veggie burger and oven chips, some kind of ready meal, etc. Lots more Diet Coke.

I also have a massive binge of cake and chocolate a couple of times a week. So yeah....about as bad a diet as could be.

jcq17 · 20/04/2019 08:37

Yesterday I went out for breakfast so treated myself to a full English with a chocolate milkshake.
A kinder ice cream in the afternoon
Butterfly chicken, salad, rice and halloumi at nandos for tea and a handful of pick and mix!
