We were on holiday in August 2016 when we realised he was the same height as me (he was 12). He's now 15 and 12" taller. I can't keep up with the feeding and don't even start on the clothes ...

Been there, doing that! He blinks and he grows - he's also 15

bibbitybobbityyhat · 13/04/2019 20:26

He stood over me today and rested his chin on my head and I couldn't get over it!

He eats everything that isn't tied down in the house.

I have a 12 year old who is like this. New football boots at New year in a size 7. Had to buy new ones today, size 9.5!

I have a 15 year old son who grows like a weed! He had some very expensive trainers for Christmas, size 9. We had to replace them today with size 11 Shock
He is never not hungry.

brizzlemint · 13/04/2019 21:06

Mine will eat all of his dinner and then go and demolish a bowl of cereal - we're going through fruit and fibre and weetabix like it's going out of style. He's about 5 ft 10/11 now.

Streely · 13/04/2019 21:10

I have one, too Grin.

14 yr old DS that has gone from 5’7 to 6’3 in the last couple of years. His feet have gone up 4 sizes in a single year!

He also demolishes his dinner and then starts sniffing around for cereal or toast an hour later. It’s expensive!

dementedma · 13/04/2019 21:11

They do grow like weeds dont they? I had hoped 17 year old DS had finished growing as he's already well over 6 feet, but am sure he's having another growth spurt.

hmwhatsmynameagain · 13/04/2019 21:14

Yep I remember it well, about 6 months from being a kid to this huge person in my house I still love like a kid bit he leans on my head xx

ComeOnGordon · 13/04/2019 21:17

I’ve got one very tall 6’ 5” son who whooshed up in the space of 18 months. I could nearly see him growing. Love how tall & handsome he is - he makes me feel safe.

The next one is in that phase now - it’s his eye level I notice. I’m fairly tall but he’s about 6cm behind me at the moment. Won’t be long till he’s looking down on me.

DramaAlpaca · 13/04/2019 21:17

I had three like that, I could never keep the fridge full enough. The youngest one is now 21 & has finally stopped at 6'3. He has stretchmarks across his back from growing so fast as a teenager.

ALemonyPea · 13/04/2019 21:18

I have three of those. My 15 year old is 6'4", taller than me by nearly a whole foot and now an inch taller than his dad. My 13 year old is an inch taller than me, and my 10 year old is at my shoulders. They all had bigger feet than me by the age of 10.

I'm going to be surrounded by giants.

PacmansGapingMaw · 13/04/2019 21:20

Have I got this to come? I'm just under 6', and I can rest my chin on my 10yo's head. He's going to be enormous...

brizzlemint · 13/04/2019 21:23

My friend's son is nearly 21 and still growing. At the end of the cricket season last year my son was the same height as his friends, now they are up to his shoulder.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 13/04/2019 21:24

My nephew (son of dh's taller brother) is 6'7"! I think he has stopped growing now at age 19.

Warmhandscoldheart · 13/04/2019 21:27

My neighbour used to ask if my DC slept on a rack instead of a bed because he grew so fast Grin

dementedma · 13/04/2019 21:28

Dear God. Are we breeding a race of giants?

upaladderagain · 13/04/2019 21:28

Growing pains are a real thing too, so as well as them having to learn how they occupy space with their strangely new and unfamiliar size they may be achy and uncomfortable. DS's bones in his feet grew so fast that his tendons couldn't keep up so he had difficulty walking until he had surgery.

Bluelonerose · 13/04/2019 21:29

I have a 6foot 16 year old who must have hollow legs with the amount of food he eats. Ds2 is looking like hes following ds1 too.
I buy new trousers they are a little long. Boys wear them once then grow so you can see a foot of ankle.

MillicentMartha · 13/04/2019 21:31

Aw, my lovely 16 yo eats like a horse but has stopped growing at 5’8”. He might make 5’9” eventually. He’s growing outwards instead!

Oblomov19 · 13/04/2019 21:34

I am very small. But Ds1 is taller than me, taller than his dad. And that's all that matters.
All my friends recon that Ds2 Will be taller than Ds1, although I can't quite see it yet.

MillieMoodle · 13/04/2019 21:36

Watching with interest...mine are currently 2 and 8. The 8yo has been tiny forever and has just started growing - he can now eat and eat and eat. The 2yo has been long/tall since birth - currently in age 3-4 clothes - and eats as much as the 8yo. My friend has 3 boys, aged 8, 10 and 13 and their food bill per week is double ours Shock I'm excited and terrified for the future in equal measure Grin

brizzlemint · 13/04/2019 21:38

YY to growing pains, we've had tears at bedtime (not literally) because of it and I've been asked to collect him from school (at the normal time) because they ache.

DramaAlpaca · 13/04/2019 21:41

I'm 5'10, so very tall for a woman. I was in our kitchen one day with DS1, who's a broad 6'2, on one side of me, and his best friend, who's 6'7, on the other side. It made me feel tiny & that doesn't happen often Grin

The really nice thing is being wrapped up in an enormous hug by your tall adult son. It's lovely.

ExCwmbranDweller · 13/04/2019 21:44

I have two as well, it's just insane and hard to get your head round. DS1 it was sort of expected as he's always been tall for his age but two weeks ago he came home from uni and DS2 who has always been on the 25th centile for height is now half an inch shorter than 'the tall one'. Going to need to come up with a new naming system. They loom!

GlitterGlassEye · 13/04/2019 21:46

My now (just) 16 yr old skipped a shoe size at one point. He’s about 5 ft 11 so around the same size as his dad and a size 10 shoe. Costs us a fortune in clothes but I keep his big hoodies for myself to get the moneys worth. My boy cousins are all 6 ft 5 with very average size parents. I’m pretty tall so god knows how big my ds will end up. His paternal uncle is 6ft 6 and my in-laws are short Hmm Eats like a horse too, he ate a full steak pie last night to himself! For 4 people! Was throwing it out anyway but still Shock
