Anyone else hate a programme that their DP LOVES? Complain about it here!

Obviously DH & I don't love all the same tv programmes, but one that he loves and I really despise is Blue Bloods. I can't really be bothered to go anywhere when it's on, so I'm stuck on the sofa reading and trying to ignore it.

I'm sure it's a perfectly good show, but I hate it, and since DH no longer listens to my complaints about it, I'll put them here:

The entire family being great salt-of-the-earth cops. All just too good.

Tom Selleck's character and his constant moral high ground.

The stupid trite family dinner with the grandad and his stupid twee speeches. As if anyone ever does that.

Anyone else need to complain about the crap their DP subjects them to watches?

And now we have a weekend of golf...

Actually, I don't mind golf too much; football is worse. And Blue Bloods is worser.

ExH loved Brooklyn 99, which I know is a popular show but I never got the appeal, I just think it’s stupid. Whenever I see it advertised now I feel so happy I don’t have to watch it any more!

He would watch any old crap really. He was one of those people who just wants the TV on constantly. Whereas I only switch it on to specifically watch something then it goes off again. It’s lovely having the TV to myself!

I used to know he was doing a poo because I could hear Jeremy Clarkson in my bathroom. GrinGrinGrin

We always knew my flatmates boyfriend had done a shit because he sprayed Lynx deodorant everywhere.

Even now the smell of African Savannah turns my stomach.

MitziK · 13/04/2019 16:04

I had little interest in the shit my exes watched (TopGear, etc;) until one insisted that it was not normal to not be interested in EastEnders and I HAD to sit and watch it so I could talk to people at work about it.

I stopped watching TV altogether then. Nobody tells me what I can watch. I wouldn't do it to them (if they're an adult), they don't do it to me.

HOWEVER, many years later and the lovely DP does my fucking head in. Thanks to his habit of getting into something and then watching the same thing eleven billion times in a row, I now detest;

Big Bang Theory
Fresh Prince
The A-Team
Nightrider
Streethawk
Fawlty Towers
Every Auction programme
Reeves and Mortimer
Family Guy
The Simpsons
Seinfeld
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Frasier
Every other American comedy he's downloaded.
Trailer Park Boys
Alan Partridge
Bottom
The Young Ones
Anything he describes as being 'self aware' as I interpret that as being 'smug as fuck'. He seemed quite offended when I suggested he watched Mrs Brown's Boys, as that's extremely self aware. Apparently, that's different.

Some of them I just didn't like or was completely indifferent to. It's the fucking binges on the fucking things that make me hate them - and it's meant programmes I would actually have liked once upon a time are all now hated.

He's not all bad, though - he watches them upstairs or downloaded to his phone/ear phones rather than inflict them upon me anymore.

I'm not bothered by him watching Bake Off or Sewing Bee or whatever else he does, as long as it's not on endless repeats; I can zone out with things I'm not interested in as long as it's not been on a hundred times since November.

GlittercheeksOakleaf · 13/04/2019 16:34

Judge fucking Judy.

If I ever have the misfortune to meet the woman I will happily smack her in the chops. Her voice makes me want to smash the TV and yet DH thinks she's the bees knees. Bloody awful fake nonsense show.

RandomUsernameHere · 13/04/2019 16:59

Family Guy

FrenchyQ · 13/04/2019 18:04

Forged in fire

Game of thrones

Jiggles101 · 13/04/2019 23:39

My partner is no longer allowed to watch Top Gear or Celebrity Juice in my company. I am of course still allowed to watch Made in Chelsea though BlushWink

DD(12) loves Brooklyn 99, it's better then endless Friends repeats I guess!

Yanbu for not liking BoJack Horsman, it's genius! Big Mouth is great too, so well observed.

PlasmaRain · 14/04/2019 02:31

Another who loves ‘how it’s made’, it’s so calm and soothing, the gentle voiceover describing the fabrication process from beginning to end - it’s fascinatingly dull (yes I know that doesn’t make sense)

almost hypnotic. The only other thing that matches it is the burning log they have here on one tv channel in the USA at Christmas. It’s just a burning log fire, just the logs burning and the occasional crackle and spit on an all day loop, incredibly comforting and cathartic.

BlueJava · 15/04/2019 14:27

I rare watch anything other than the news at 6pm and some travel documentary type things (think Simon Reeves). I will:

Go to bed and read;
Have a bath;
Plan something else;
Prep the next day;
Sew;
Knit...

Whatthefunk · 15/04/2019 14:41

Wheeler feckin dealers

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 15/04/2019 15:00

Another vote for Brooklyn nine nine.

I just do not find it funny or entertaining in the slightest.

To be fair, DP watches a lot of TV and I usually have my head in a book and don't really notice what's on. But when this is on I start feeling a bit of rage.

TarragonSauce · 15/04/2019 15:25

Street Outlaws.
The Great British Menu.
Anything with Mary Berry hovering around. He likes her. I think he wishes his mother had been like her whereas MIL spends most of her cooking time swilling sherry and cackling to herself in her kitchen. It's takeaway central.

The Durrells. Well, I quite like watching the Durrells and all the lovely Corfu scenery but truly I disapprove of Keeley Hawes, in the same way as I disapprove of whatserface from Dr Foster. He goes so gooey eyed it's hell getting him up off the sofa to make the tea.

Pascha · 15/04/2019 15:35

DH idolises Ant Middleton and loves SAS Who Dares Wins on C4. Load of shite if you ask me so I put headphones I and watch something else on my phone instead.

formul1isSoBoringNow · 15/04/2019 15:40

Hunted, I can't stand the fakeness of it and how made up it is.

last leg, mainly because Adam does a load of shouty selfrightous bollocks to the camera about how you should think like he's telling to five year olds off. even though agree with most of his subject matters, it's his total "this is the right way think" tone makes me want to through something at the telly.

fantasmasgoria1 · 10/06/2019 17:24

Wheeler dealers, would i lie to you, QI, and inbetweeners when its on. We have very similar tastes so mostly there are no issues!

MaximusHeadroom · 10/06/2019 17:29

Baseball which goes on forever.

YouTube documentaries on history, architecture and engineering. Constant programmes about different aeroplane engines, car engines and bridges.

One evening he watched 3 in a row on Chernobyl. Totally lost the will to live.

He also won't watch anything with crime, police, hospitals or drama in them

PutyourtoponTrevor · 10/06/2019 17:44

Most things DP likes I hate

The Big Bang Theory
How I met your mother
Salvage hunters
GoT
The Simpsons

Any car restoration shite
Any film with Jason Statham

CigarsofthePharoahs · 10/06/2019 17:46

DH and I have Netflix and Amazon prime. He sits watching formula 1 on his laptop and I am unbothered.
I used to enjoy watching it, but nowadays I can't be bothered with it. He can also watch incredibly unfunny films like Spy Hard without me wanting to punch the telly.
I watch what I want on my laptop. Perfect!
