Anyone else hate a programme that their DP LOVES? Complain about it here!

Obviously DH & I don't love all the same tv programmes, but one that he loves and I really despise is Blue Bloods. I can't really be bothered to go anywhere when it's on, so I'm stuck on the sofa reading and trying to ignore it.

I'm sure it's a perfectly good show, but I hate it, and since DH no longer listens to my complaints about it, I'll put them here:

The entire family being great salt-of-the-earth cops. All just too good.

Tom Selleck's character and his constant moral high ground.

The stupid trite family dinner with the grandad and his stupid twee speeches. As if anyone ever does that.

Anyone else need to complain about the crap their DP subjects them to watches?

I love Trailer Park Boys 🙈 Got into it with my brother many years ago and got my foreign born DH into it too! No accounting for taste..!

We like most of the same things, but one show I just cannot abide is Celebrity Juice.

DP is an otherwise intelligent and funny man, so why he enjoys this so much I have no idea. I didn’t actually mind Leigh Francis in other things, but Keith Lemon is just awful and all the fawning slebs making stupid sexist jokes just piss me off.

We both enjoy cooking shows, Grand Designs, Forged in Fire etc and watch all the major Netflix series, but there are just a few things we make sure to watch when we’re not together.

My guilty pleasure is Say Yes to the Dress, which I watch with DD

My XH used to watch g old - my God it is dull. They spend about two weeks walking very slowly and occasionally hitting a ball with a stick, Why ? - So they can win a nasty bottle green nylon school blazer.
I'm so glad I no longer have to feign interest in this awfulness.

Dh's audio books that he listens to on speaker phone no matter how often I throw headphones at to him. They are some space/fantasy saga bullshit and even the thought of them makes me incredibly cross.

I rage watch Blue Bloods. I bring it on myself... dh laughs at my self inflicted ranting.

Oh and I’ve stopped watching all the crime shows which inevitably have dead or kidnapped women and girls at the heart of them. One day I just said I’m sick of watching dead women as entertainment, no more Criminal Minds etc so now he watches them alone too.

Sky sports bloody news. Every day. I am so used to it now it would seem strange for it not to be on!!

Cricket. Not as bad as the constant football as the commentary is amusing but still, it's on ALOT

I came on to say Blue Bloods for all the reasons you described! {smile] I also hate that it's all so grainy and grey looking.
Wheeler Dealers is another one that is long past it's sell by date. The stupid theme song when it goes to adverts or they change scene gets stuck in my head for ages as well!

These are all ok mediocre shows really, but they have all been going on for a long long time and are just so samey. It's hard to tell one show from another sometimes. The forced "banter" that's clearly meant to be funny between the characters just makes me cringe and it's all just so predictable and pointless. I also dislike how most of the female characters are portrayed. It feels like paint by numbers tv.

Masterchef. I detest it. Everything about it. Made worse that I've usually just had frigging chicken nuggets for tea while they are preparing chicken a la sous vide, accentuated with the finest himalayan herbs harvested under a full moon on a bed of organic seaweed.

My husband watches My Little Pony.
My Little fucking Pony! He’s an adult man, in his late 40’s watching a show for 8 year old girls. Not only can’t I bear it, I can’t even look at him while he’s watching it.

I’ve got a friend I visit most weeks and we always end up watching Blue Bloods and ranting about how awful it is. 😆
