I’ve had a pretty horrible few days and want to cheer myself up! I don’t want to buy clothes or anything like that, can’t really go for treatments at the moment so just want to Order something online that will be delivered and will make me smile! So, I’m wondering is there something you own (not a big expensive thing) that just makes you happy?
Totally vague I know but I’m often going to people houses and spotting things I love so though mumsnet may be a good place to ask.
For context I’m a late 30’s mum of 2 small ones!

What's your budget? My lovely Jo Malone perfume made me smile, that was about £45. My Avengers pjs do too, and my cashmere bed socks.

A good book...I like a trashy thriller!

Bonsai tree, I got it for my birthday and I love it!

Tryingtogetitright · 02/04/2019 16:13

Think it came from Amazon.

wildgirls · 02/04/2019 16:15

I definitely need to stay away from chocolate!

Yes a candle or makeup perhaps.

Like the idea of a bonsai tree! I’ll have a look.

Budget max £40 really.

My passport.

It's my way of getting the hell away from "real life".

RandomMess · 02/04/2019 16:17

£40 may not be enough but I have some lamps that I utterly love and that make me smile every day when I turn them on.

JaretsGirlfren · 02/04/2019 16:19

Soap and glory lipstick, it lasts, the colours are great and they’re only about £10 each

wildgirls · 02/04/2019 16:20

Well yeah, a few days in the sun would be awesome! But sadly totally impossible!

My appearance isn’t great at the moment. I’ve gained weight and my skin’s crap so I think makeup would just be like ‘polishing a turd’ as they say! Hmm

My orchids, they seem to like my steamy kitchen (extraction system is broken). They bring me pleasure every day and flower all year.

A lovely dressing gown and slippers.
The Sanctuary bath soak
The Sanctuary candle
I 💓 Revolution face powders

Porlex coffee grinder.

Add some Yemeni coffee beans from Hasbean and you have a perfect start to the day.

This makes lovely hot chocolate. I bought a Velvetiser but have given it away to my son as this one although cheaper is better.

A sonic aromatherapy fragrance machine with oils! Pick some oils, mix with water - lovely. About £36 all-in

Palominoo · 02/04/2019 16:46

I love these little charms, I'm wearing them layered with a Tiffany initial disc necklace at the moment.

I usually chop and change what I like but these little charms are so lovely I've been wearing them constantly.

I have recently been given this bag and I can't tell you how happy it makes me, I can't stop looking at it and show it off at any opportunity.
It is grey the majority of the time, but when the light catches it - it's amazing (and practical too)

handbag

Fridasrage · 02/04/2019 16:50

Might not be as relevant as I first thought but my fave thing (technically not mine) is my husbands childhood teddy. It’s about the length of a hand from wrist to fingertip. He’s had it since being an infant and puts it in the front of his top when feeling down. It brings me so much joy Grin

Maybe you could get a special little bear of your own?

Allice · 02/04/2019 16:51

I have a couple of Emma Bridgewater spotty plates that were seconds and second hand. They make me smile when I use them.
I recently bought some great lamps pre owned which I love and they make me very happy when I switch them on.

Despite the above I don't buy much second hand but I'm loving a root through Facebook selling pages for things to didn't realise I needed!

SherlockSays · 02/04/2019 16:53

I got some skincare stuff from 'the Ordinary' on BeautyBay and they're sorting my horrible skin out so well. I love them - I get some weird joy from using the pippets on them.

MotherWol · 02/04/2019 17:01

Aromatherapy oils - I have about half a dozen basic ones and a little oil burner, and they just make the house smell lovely when I settle down on the sofa after DD's in bed. Muji do some really nice blended ones as well, I like the 'Going Outside' one.

I got a small, cheerful pencil case from Flying Tiger and corralled all the bits that lurk in my bag (inhaler, lip balm, tampons, gum, hand cream, pen etc), and now I can find them when I need them, and they're not spilling all over the place, plus it's easier to switch it between bags.

Lobsterquadrille2 · 02/04/2019 17:01

I was going to say Emma Bridgewater mugs and The Ordinary skin care - it' so reasonably priced and the droppers get every last bit out. My ages skin is so much better since I started using it.

Also a lovely candle and some luxurious bubble bath, for a wonderful soak.

With a kindle, there are loads of free books or 99p books you can download (some may be rubbish but some are good).

CakeNinja · 02/04/2019 17:02

Anything from SpaceNK! Placed an order yesterday for next day delivery - am really looking forward to use it all this evening!
