I’ve had a pretty horrible few days and want to cheer myself up! I don’t want to buy clothes or anything like that, can’t really go for treatments at the moment so just want to Order something online that will be delivered and will make me smile! So, I’m wondering is there something you own (not a big expensive thing) that just makes you happy?
Totally vague I know but I’m often going to people houses and spotting things I love so though mumsnet may be a good place to ask.
For context I’m a late 30’s mum of 2 small ones!

My cat 🐈(somewhat out of your price range even though he was a rescue).

A knitted piglet (Winnie the Pooh's friend) I bought when I was 7 at my primary school Christmas Fair - WITH MY OWN MONEY. That would be over 50 years ago. That Piglet has seen Life let me tell you.

Sorry not helping much Grin

My simple modern water bottle, it's pretty, smooth and nice to hold and keeps water properly cold all day so I'm more likely to actually drink enough (can't stand room temperature water).

Nice soap from tkmaxx - less than a fiver
Dior nail glow. Looks really pretty - £21
Scented candle in vanilla . Even the cheap ones airwick ones are nice - £4
You still have change from £40 for a big box of strawberries and a can of Bailey's latte Smile

I recently bought some new throw cushions for my sofa and a couple of lovely reed diffusers, really cheered me up!

My childhood teddy, just sniffing him takes me back to being a child. He's been with me since I was born, everything I've been through, he has been there with me, he's always dried my tears, gives the best cuddles & never asks why.

Probably more than budget, but my high thread count M&s and soak and sleep bedding in pure white. It's divine.

wildgirls · 02/04/2019 19:32

Thanks everyone! Such lovely suggestions. I think I’m going to go and get a really nice plant and something lovely for my skin.
So nice to hear about all these things that mahe people so happy!
I’m so very desperate to get a rabbit but absolutely must wait til the kids are a bit older!! My brilliant idea to get fish did not end well. I’ll stuck with the kids and the cat for now!
Thank you all for your replies x

At around the £40 mark:

My tattoo - had it late in life and it makes me happy every single day

Denby crockery - there's something really reassuring about lovely, chunky, beautiful stoneware

Books - maybe a big new cookery book and a couple of history books

Posh bubble bath - eg Neals' Yard and a fluffy new towel

A silver bangle

Mother87 · 02/04/2019 20:28

Flowers... scented stocks... a few roses... and a few books (latest/cheapest all from charity shops)...

Batsypatsy · 02/04/2019 20:29

Foodschmood What brand of water bottle do you use?

I love a good scented candle, some nice chocolate, clean quality bedding - I buy it on eBay - especially soft pillowcases.

Amelia910 · 02/04/2019 20:33

All about new pjs!
Or a new plant :)

Holidayshopping · 02/04/2019 20:34

What a lovely thread!

I have some Emma bridgewater crockery that makes me very happy.
Burning a candle after dinner.
New sparkly flip flops.
A warm bath with a nice Lush bath bomb.

:)

Gertie75 · 02/04/2019 20:51

Definitely my electric throw, I sit under it on the sofa every evening and am lovely and warm, I had it for Christmas and have hardly had the fire on since so it's considerably lowered the heating bills too.

Cherrysoup · 02/04/2019 21:16

I bought some late flowering narcissus bulbs for a couple of quid the other day, they’re mini multi headed white ones with orange hearts. Lifted my mood and the digging to put them in probably released endorphins or something. I was sweating!

Drogosnextwife · 02/04/2019 21:19

Someone got me a gift from the letterbox bakery for Christmas, it was probably the best Christmas present I got. You can get a taster box for around £12 I think.
Plants, especially floor plants, I love them everytime I look at my little plants they make me feel happy, I have no idea why.

DavetheCat2001 · 02/04/2019 21:22

I have a cupboard full of vintage Pyrex.

It makes me happy and people always comment on how cheerful and colourful it is.

Books books and more books. Especially if they come in the post.

WoollyMummoth · 02/04/2019 21:32

I totally love my bed, especially when my cat comes to join me for a snuggle.
I also love my treadmill, it’s brilliant for burning off stress and arse fat.

mookinsx · 02/04/2019 21:36

Obviously my sentimental items won't help here

  • my pop corn and popcorn bowls, it's my favourite snack and I have plenty which always makes me happy ha!
-my salt lamp, it's really pretty and just a gorgeous accessory to the bedroom

I've just treated myself to a new hoodie and I'm loving it. Never a bad time to treat yourself

windydoggy · 02/04/2019 22:10

@DavetheCat2001 Your Pyrex collection is beautiful.I didn't realise it came in such lovely colours.
I have Pyrex envy now .

ScruffGin · 02/04/2019 22:40

Really nice smelling shower gel (current favourite is a Ragdale one from M&S)

A very fluffy, soft dressing gown
