I’ve had a pretty horrible few days and want to cheer myself up! I don’t want to buy clothes or anything like that, can’t really go for treatments at the moment so just want to Order something online that will be delivered and will make me smile! So, I’m wondering is there something you own (not a big expensive thing) that just makes you happy?
Totally vague I know but I’m often going to people houses and spotting things I love so though mumsnet may be a good place to ask.
For context I’m a late 30’s mum of 2 small ones!

My trolley bags 😳

Honestly they are sooooo much easier than carrier bags. They make shopping just that little bit less of a PITA.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 02/04/2019 17:05

Bamboo socks. They’re a hug for your feet.

Seniorschoolmum · 02/04/2019 17:07

My car. It’s my transport, my means of escape, my very own space. If I want to cheer myself up, and I can’t afford to spend much, I clean & polish it, and make it smell nice. Grin

Microfiber towel for my hair, it’s curly and it saves my curls.
Rock salt wax burner. Looks pretty, makes my house smell lovely, I can trick DP into checking how salty it is when he’s had a drink which amuses me no end.

A lovely snuggly throw that I keep on my sofa for cold evenings. Snuggled under it right now as I am off work sick.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 02/04/2019 17:20

Frida that is so precious 😍 aww.

I agree, BAM socks are brill. They have an extra padded heel which just makes me think ‘ooh, yeah ☺️‘

I have a fair few things in the house that I’ve bought from my creative friends - Indian batik cushion covers, hand thrown plant pots, etc. Also love reading a good book and I should light candles more, but I need help in this department too OP. Lovely thread!

My Clinique moisturiser (the big yellow one) makes my skin feel so much better and look fresher. Sometimes it's the only thing that cheers me up 😂. About £30.

Nanasueathome · 02/04/2019 17:22

My Emma Bridgewater crockery

Missmarplesknitting · 02/04/2019 17:22

My favourite little treats are

A new nail polish
A lovely scented candle. Love the St Eval ones.
A butterball bath bomb from lush
Sachet of face mask and some 3 minute miracle.

Light candle. Lob butterball into bath. Apply mask and conditioner. Stay in bath until v wrinkly.

On exiting put on clean PJ's and do nails.

Bliss!

Thesuzle · 02/04/2019 17:35

Silk or silk satin pillow case if you want to give your face and hair a pick me up

AliceAforethought · 02/04/2019 17:41

Not a thing to own, but for that budget a nice haircut may cheer you up and make you feel better about yourself.
I had mind done last week (am a hairdresser dodger usually!) and am so glad I did.

Singlenotsingle · 02/04/2019 17:49

My ddil bought me a plum tree for Mother's Day, to plant in the garden. That made me smile. Otherwise, my dog but she cost £250!

I would buy a few bits - I have a really cute, super cheap ivy plant on my mantel and it is really cheering me up. A Sand and Fog candle lit in the evening chills me out. A bunch of flowers in the kitchen in a jug makes me smile. Fairy lights are always something that brighten me up. A lovely note book and pen? Oooh I could get loads of happy things for £40.

NC4Now · 02/04/2019 18:01

I bought some pink and white roses and put them in a vase that was my gran’s on my hearth.

CoperCabana · 02/04/2019 18:01

The other thing are my Duralex drinking glasses - just a lovely weight and feel to them and wine in them makes me feel continental! 😀

SimonJT · 02/04/2019 18:06

My (fairly recently gained) British citizenship, it really feels like a pass to be free alongside my proof of revoking my Pakistani citizenship.

If we’re going materialistic, my pure silk versace bedroom shirt.

Bluecow15 · 02/04/2019 18:25
