Drama in the local Facebook group.

A hairdresser opened up a salon in our village and spammed posted frequently in the village Facebook page about it.

The one and only Admin got annoyed and requested she stop. She kicked off, others joined the fray, pointing out that her posts were better than the ones about dog poo.

The admin archived the group in retaliation. He's just opened it up and announced he's quitting as admin.

So that's our scandal. Any going on in yours? It's better than Coronation Street.

“ I’ve not got my glasses on but I think it’s Brenda’s white cat stuck up the tree over the road? If anyone can call Brenda and let her know, I’ll post if it gets down”

Two minutes later..

“ it’s a carrier bag Dave”

chocolatelog · 27/03/2019 14:52

@notsosureaboutthatthough brilliant 🤣🤣🤣

Well... an old lady got conned by some rogue builders and the daughter cane on the page to warn others.
Then some builders offered to fix it up for free.
Then the local pub offered a quiz night for funds for the materials. That's a good community isn't it?

TapasForTwo · 27/03/2019 17:55

We did have a murder in our village last year. Do I win?

bigbluebus · 27/03/2019 18:22

One of the ones I'm on regularly has posts about escaped cows on the road - does anyone know who they belong to? This morning's post had a picture of the cows on the road - they were black and white (as are most of the cows around this largely dairy farming area) and were too far away from the camera for their tags to be usefully visible! I'd love to think someone recognised them from the photo!

dressinggowndonna · 27/03/2019 20:52

In our main 'serious' dictatorship one it's parking, why do we need another charity shop, my sheds been broken into and bikes nicked, about 30 pics a day of the local landmark from various photographers, can anyone recommend x, lost/found pets, any local gcse tutors, and this will out my area but whether all the local restaurants should take down the extensions they illegally put up, also that coke is becoming a huge issue/there's lots of trouble in town at weekends now.

In the less serious someone keeps posting poems about the area that they write and a couple of jokes here and there.

Heatherjayne1972 · 27/03/2019 21:31

Dodgy door knockers. Dodgy window cleaners and dead cats around here
And weirdly today lots of requests for cleaners

PutYourShirtOnMartin · 27/03/2019 21:35

I am on my old Villages fb page

It's mostly dog poo, a white van no one knows and saddles for sale

My town one...well we have a massive water leak and subsequent crater in the road that caters for two primary schools, a high school and the local FE college.

The schools are closed!

Racmactac · 27/03/2019 21:36

Dog poo

Groups of kids hanging around being intimidating. ( they aren't they are just hanging out much like adults do when they turn 18 but go to pub)

Slagging off the local councillor for whatever perceived wrong he has done (he even gets blamed for Teresa may's failings)

GummyGoddess · 27/03/2019 21:45

Today there is a news story about an elderly man apparently being detained at the airport for his anti Brexit badge. As it had a swear word on it, I assume it was due to language rather than sentiment

Mrs Johnston's bank card has been found outside of Argos

Giant great dane is wandering around somewhere without an owner

Someone is throwing raw meat into a bush every night. Many meat puns, my favourite being Old bill need to do a steak out. Second favourite is someone who did not understand the puns and tried to correct someone by telling them they spelt 'meat' instead of 'meet'. Some weird person asks why the man has been shamed before they found out why he was doing it (open to guesses for the reason). Someone else says it happens near them and their cats are bringing mini sausages home.

Someone has been taken to hospital (possibly by air ambulance) with 'unexplained facial injuries'

Bomb scare at the airport train station

A mahoosive amount of cannabis plants have been found growing in an unoccupied premises and the police are asking the owner to come forward

Quite entertaining today!

The state of the local park. They're always whinging about it being run down etc and how the council are letting it go to rack and ruin so that they can build houses on it. They're always moaning about how the council never spend money on it. I've tried and tried explaining that other parks have a "friends of X park" group looking after it because the council have to spend 60% of their budget on social care and the rest of the money doesn't spread that far. They also moan about having to pay council tax.

Their other bugbear is any time a building or area is bought and repurposed, especially if it's for a takeaway shop. The local market, which hasn't been used in years, is a big eyesore and a magnet for teens to dick about, is going to be knocked down and a Costa and something else will be built. OMG you'd think the council had approved a drive-through crack den or something.

There are 3 Turkish barbers in the area and there was a huge furore about how they must be money laundering and doing other dodgy things. If they were not standard barbers they wouldn't have said anything.

teejayem · 27/03/2019 21:47

We have a corker on ours at the moment which started off as a ' 5G - it will give everyone three heads, poison the water and created microwaves of death' and has now spiralled into Chemtrails and poisoned water supplies. The tinfoil hat brigade are out in force and unfortunately I live in a part of the country where everyone believes everything they see on the internet as absolute gospel Hmm

Typically it's dog poo, grainy ring doorbell footage of prospective criminals (pretty sure it's usually the Hermes driver) and an assortment of car thefts (we're near docks so we do get quite a bit of cars stolen to order).
Also lots of parking complaints and DISSCUSSSTING teenage behaviour from the kids smoking weed down the alley by the park.

ReallyReallyNo · 27/03/2019 21:50

Someone advertising their services as a ‘Manuel’ driving instructor. My fawlty towers GIF in response was not well received.

TripleSeptic · 27/03/2019 21:56

"Please don't drive fast past the school"

Versus "parents, please park considerately at the school, instead of abandoning your car like an arsehole, because we have to drive past your car quickly, as you've parked on a blind bend"

Plus, antisocial youths with fireworks!

francienolan · 27/03/2019 21:56

Ours is mainly Brexit debates at the moment. It's shit.

The other content is often them bitching about how many restaurants there are, and if a new one opens loads of people say 'Not ANOTHER restaurant!!!!!' And yet it is impossible to get a walk in table anywhere from Thursday to Sunday...so clearly they're all eating at these restaurants! I have no idea why the idea is so offensive to some of them.

tobypercy · 27/03/2019 22:00

complaint at 9am about how people should take in their food waste bins straight after they've been emptied (around 8.45 last week, it seems) because otherwise they fly about in the wind and it's not fair on the other residents.

It hadn't occurred to her that most people are at work ::eyeroll::

Complaints about speeding, followed by the local neds tagging all their pals to say you stop doing that. And armageddon over road works. WE'LL BE TRAPPED HERE FOREVER, THERE ARE TRAFFIC LIGHTS EVERYWHERE!!!!

I'm considering unsubscribing, but just occasionally there is something either useful or entertaining.

PotterHead1985 · 27/03/2019 22:10

"Just the Hermes driver" - prospective criminal. Weeeeeeellll.... GrinGrinGrin

Figmentofimagination · 27/03/2019 22:13

@Kummerspeck I must do! North west by any chance?

AllGoodDogs · 27/03/2019 22:19

Just seen an odd one on mine - dog tied up outside Co Op, taken to vets for chip scanning. Phone number on file turned off.

The Co Op would have still been open, I'm waiting for someone to kick up after popping in for a pint of milk and now their dog's missing...

Baconcob · 27/03/2019 22:20

Helicopter went over, does anyone know why?

No.

JuniorAsparagus · 27/03/2019 22:36

My favourite was 'Ambulance and two Police cars on blue lights and sirens heading down (residential street). Anyone know why?' Someone replied 'I'd say it was an emergency.'

TheBigFatMermaid · 27/03/2019 23:19

Dog poo, dog poo and more dog poo.

Also, an installation on the sea front that had been highly criticised when installed, has recently been removed. OMG, the uproar... 'They are iconic' 'They were a part of my childhood'.

I dared to point out that most had hated them when they were put in!

They were rusty eyesores!

Klopptimist · 28/03/2019 00:32

'Every body on XXX street be carful, theres a POLISH MAN walking about is averidge height wiv medium brown hair and a tshirt and jeans. Please be carful specially girl's and lady's u dont no how they can b like'

RockinHippy · 28/03/2019 00:43

Ours is a bit mad, but very entertaining & for all of their 100+ comments rows, can be very caring & helpful too. It has its own off shoot cat, dogs & even poached egg groups. The cat group has an amazing track record for returning lost cars home, the while group joins in looking

It's a mix of students, all types of families, most pretty middle class hippyesque, but a bit mixed, lots of vegetarians & vegans who like to argue with the meat eaters & local butchers or burger bars who post.

Topics are things like a mum of a twenty odd year old taking his computer off him & posting from his account that he's been caught watching porn & how disappointed in him she is. Probably a student having a laugh, but it's a busy group & the replies are hilarious.

The usual, recommend me builder, plumber, electrician, takeaway food, Sunday roast etc, baby sitter wanted, parking, some great passive aggressive notes left on cars & doors of noisy students

We also have local councillors posting & asking opinions about local issues & jumping in to offer help to people where they can

Then there's the student spats between housemates & stolen very bad paintings of sharks & grating cheese on a vegans personal grater & the likes. They're usually good

The sharing of a scoby & lots of recycling of all sorts of unwanted stuff & shout outs for help for everything from the local homeless, food banks to refugees or homes start kits for mums starting a fresh after leaving an abusive partner. 😊

We've even had murders 😐
