What's your favourite U.K county?

To live or holiday in. At the moment it's Devon for me although I have many counties still to visit so it may change. It's so beautiful, there's so much to do, I love the place names, the houses, the seafood and the independent shops.

What's your favourite county and why?

Devon

mrsstephens89 · 25/03/2019 19:19

For the same reasons as you OP!

Sharpkat · 25/03/2019 19:20

Rutland. Small but perfectly formed.

BillywigSting · 25/03/2019 19:20

Merseyside to live in (purely because liverpool is quite a city)

Cornwall to holiday in, it's truly beautiful

WhiteWine4TheLady · 25/03/2019 19:21

London to live in.

I love Yorkshire (specifically North Yorkshire) for holidays.

ShabbyNat · 25/03/2019 19:22

I love holidaying in Norfolk, plan to retire thereSmileSmile
Lots of lovely villages, miles of coastline with all sorts of different beaches & lots of different things to do for all ages & interests

boxlikeamarchhare · 25/03/2019 19:25

North Yorkshire for me, it has everything I want. The landscape is stunning - hills, coast, history, food, not too developed, independent shops, cafes, restaurants, an art scene, fantastic schools, friendly people. I grew up here and left for almost thirty years but knew I would come back eventually.

gluteustothemaximus · 25/03/2019 19:25

Somerset. Bath, Cheddar, Wells, all those areas are lovely.

Palominoo · 25/03/2019 19:26

Swansea. Not the town centre but the beaches on the Gower, Clyne Gardens, woods, forests, reservoir at Felindre, easy access to the M4 which opens up to many other beautiful places in Wales and of course back into England.

I'm from London/Essex and love it here.

PH03b3 · 25/03/2019 19:39

I like the Gloucestershire area

WeepingWillowWeepingWino · 25/03/2019 19:42

Devo, go on holiday there every year. Also Northumberland.

WeepingWillowWeepingWino · 25/03/2019 19:42

I sometimes go to Devon as well Blush

MoreHairyThanScary · 25/03/2019 19:43

Devon, I'm one of the lucky ones who live here !

Curlyshabtree · 25/03/2019 19:43

Suffolk

GrumpyOldMare · 25/03/2019 19:44

Somerset.
Born here a long time ago and never left.
History and beauty, what more can I ask for?

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 25/03/2019 19:44

Difficult to pick just one!

North Yorkshire, Cumbria and Argyl in Scotland spring to mind but there are so many beautiful places in the UK

whiteroseredrose · 25/03/2019 19:45

Northumberland. Some lovely beaches (and not as busy as the South West). Castles, Islands, Lindisfarne....

Pinkstars2501 · 25/03/2019 19:48

Devon. Used to live there and I miss it lots!

Sparklingbrook · 25/03/2019 19:49

Worcestershire where I live, it has everything I need. Smile Don't much like the seaside fortunately.

TapasForTwo · 25/03/2019 19:52

Yorkshire and Shropshire.

MrsDeanWinchester75 · 25/03/2019 19:53

Shropshire to live in, it's green and sparsely populated but not remote and still has decent shopping plus being central the transport links to major cities are good and nowhere is too far for a short break.

For holidays I love Cornwall although would never visit in the main holidays.

RoseMartha · 25/03/2019 19:53

Cornwall followed closely by Devon.

madeyemoodysmum · 25/03/2019 19:56

I love Cumbria
Devon and Cornwall
Norfolk
Yorkshire

Live in Herts. Which has nice bits but the urban areas are getting shittier and shittier. Rubbish and fly tips everywhere. It really depresses me.

nevernotworried · 25/03/2019 20:01

Antrim for the coastline and countryside.

orangejuiced · 25/03/2019 20:01

Devon. I love dartmoor and exmoor, the coast. I like Cornwall too but it's a bit further to get to!
