What's your favourite U.K county?

To live or holiday in. At the moment it's Devon for me although I have many counties still to visit so it may change. It's so beautiful, there's so much to do, I love the place names, the houses, the seafood and the independent shops.

What's your favourite county and why?

Summer holidays - Pembrokeshire
Autumn / Winter / Spring holidays- Gwynedd (though Cumbria runs a close second)

To live? West Midlands - has everything you need except seaside , is affordable, and is easy to get to everywhere from. (Bet I'm the only one that say that though Grin)

Cornwall and Northumberland. Absolutely adore being by the sea!

WingBingo · 25/03/2019 21:43

Devon. I prefer the quieter, less touristy areas.

Vinorosso74 · 25/03/2019 21:46

Northumberland has beautiful beaches, countryside and lovely castles (not just Alnwick). However I need to live in a city.

KateGrey · 25/03/2019 21:46

I love North Yorkshire (very lucky to grow up there). I also love Hampshire.

Myothercarisalsoshit · 25/03/2019 21:49

Derbyshire. Just beautiful.

OhLookMarch · 25/03/2019 22:01

Yorkshire xx

Serin · 25/03/2019 22:18

Gwynedd.
Argyle.

JockTamsonsBairns · 25/03/2019 22:26

Another vote for North Yorkshire from me! Although I also love the Moray coast up in the North of Scotland, used to go on holiday up there every year as a child and returned for a visit last summer. It was every bit as stunning as I remembered it.

YorkieTheRabbit · 25/03/2019 22:31

Yorkshire, end of!!

Crushedvelvetcouch · 25/03/2019 22:31

Cheshire.
Close to Manchester/Liverpool/Chester, beautiful countryside, close to the sea, not expensive compared to down south.

Notquiteagandt · 26/03/2019 10:45

Gwynedd

But to live realistically merseyside.(the wirral specifically)

On the coast. Lovely beaches. North wales, cheshire countryside on doorstep. Liverpool, chester, manchester on doorstep too.

Only place I know can be beach, mountains, city in a 10min radious.

BlueSkiesLies · 26/03/2019 12:09

Sussex has lovely countryside and a warm climate

Yorkshire, because, well, YORKSHIRE YORKSHIRE YORKSHIRE I'M RIGHT YOU'RE WRONG YORKSHIRE YORKSHIRE YORKSHIRE

WanderingAimlessly · 26/03/2019 12:12

Pembrokeshire! Always Pembrokeshire!

postiepostie · 26/03/2019 12:14

Yorkshire. Obviously

BigusBumus · 26/03/2019 12:24

I agree with Sharpkat - Rutland.

Tiny and mainly filled with a reservoir with loads of leisure things to do there. Three fab towns (if you count Stamford which technically is 1 mile over the border), Uppingham and Oakham being the other two. Great scenery, interesting restaurants and pubs with sophisticated food. Looks a lot like The Cotswolds without the crowds. No nasty bits at all!

willowstar · 26/03/2019 12:30

Aberdeenshire in Scotland, though don't know the west coast of Scotland very well.

I live in Norfolk and I love it here.

I also love hills though and Yorkshire and Cumbria win out there.

littlemissalwaystired · 26/03/2019 12:31

Somerset hands downSmile

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 26/03/2019 12:33

The Highlands, the Lakes or Yorkshire (where I live).

WhiskersPete · 26/03/2019 12:37

Staffordshire - Stoke-on-Trent is divine.

User10fuckingmillion · 26/03/2019 12:39

Cheshire. It’s beautiful.

RomanyQueen1 · 26/03/2019 12:49

I'm going to Shropshire and then into Wales on a road trip with dh.
I'm following the trail of my ancestors who moved between the two.
I know nothing about shropshire, so can't say it's my favourite but looking forward to it.

Dowser · 26/03/2019 13:21
