What's your favourite U.K county?

To live or holiday in. At the moment it's Devon for me although I have many counties still to visit so it may change. It's so beautiful, there's so much to do, I love the place names, the houses, the seafood and the independent shops.

What's your favourite county and why?

Cornwall. Most of my dad's ancestors are from Cornwall or just over the border into Devon. Had a beautiful, magical holiday there with dad, one of my sisters and DTDs summer 2017. Some places just have a feel of 'home'

Hiddenaspie1973 · 25/03/2019 20:05

Dorset
Devon

God’s own country

What's your favourite U.K county?
SurgeHopper · 25/03/2019 20:08

Yorkshire, obviously

RandomUsernameHere · 25/03/2019 20:09

London and Wiltshire

CremeEggThief · 25/03/2019 20:12

Probably Northumberland. I would have said Cornwall a few years ago, but Northumberland's coast and beaches are even more beautiful.

sanityisamyth · 25/03/2019 20:12

Somerset. Got rural areas, cities, towns, villages, hills, flatlands, beaches, moors, shopping, theatres, agricultural shows/fairs (bath and west etc), airports, motorways. What doesn't it have?!

BlackPrism · 25/03/2019 20:13

YORKSHIIIIIIRE.

Gods Own Country.

Basically, the countryside is insane, the people are friendly buggers, the pub quizzes are fab, the food is great, the walks are long, the pints are cheap and.... my mum is there Grin

ServelikeSerena · 25/03/2019 20:14

Not sure what county but Snowdonia is the prettiest place I've been to in the UK

BartonHollow · 25/03/2019 20:15

YORKSHIRE

ConstanzaAndSalieri · 25/03/2019 20:15

Somewhere with a mix of traits. So I like Cornwall, but Yorkshire has (if we merge them into one) Leeds, the coast, the Moors, York, the dales... I mean wow, the diversity.

Also come and look at Hampshire. We have cities and easy access to London, we have the South Downs and the New Forest, Winchester, the coast...

Yorkshire wins on the cheese though. Mmm Wensleydale...

Theworldisfullofgs · 25/03/2019 20:16

Could I have the whole of Scotlsnd? Nearly all of its lovely and if not lovely itself, near something lovely.

Creatureofthenight · 25/03/2019 20:18

Northumberland for reasons already mentioned.

ScribblyGum · 25/03/2019 20:20

Gwynedd.

PETRONELLAS · 25/03/2019 20:21

Heartwarming to see my beloved Yorkshire here so much! It’s just so nice. People places pubs. Not contrived like tourist heavy Devon, doesn’t take 8 hours to get there like Cornwall. Feels honest cultural and modern.

Audreyhelp · 25/03/2019 20:21

Hampshire. Devon fine for a holiday no way would I want to live there .

mydogisthebest · 25/03/2019 20:22

For holidays it has to be Northumberland. The beaches are beautiful and pretty empty plus castles, lovely scenery, lots of pretty villages.

Me and DH thought about moving there but it is too far from family and friends.

EastMidsGPs · 25/03/2019 20:25

Norfolk. My home county although currently in exile.

Love the N Norfolk coastline, especially around Weybourne where you can often have the whole beach to yourself.
Its the big skies, I miss. Tbh I miss it all.

Whynham · 25/03/2019 20:29

Somerset, still a bit way out west like Devon but less tourists.

parrotonmyshoulder · 25/03/2019 20:32

Devon, where I live.
Closely, very closely, followed by Yorkshire where I’d also be happy to live.

Jayneisagirlsname · 25/03/2019 20:45

Yorkshire, Norfolk, Sussex, Northumberland, anywhere in North Wales.

The South-East holds no appeal for me, my worst holiday was in Devon!

NoisesInTheNight · 25/03/2019 20:49

Devon is in the South-West.

Jsmith99 · 25/03/2019 20:51

Derbyshire, my home county. The Peak District is where I feel most at home, and it always will be.

Turquoisetamborine · 25/03/2019 20:51

I love North Yorkshire and Northumberland as they are both beautiful and not too far away. I will only drive 2.5 hours max for UK holidays so it’s always Scotland, The Lakes or Yorkshire (not so bad when there’s so many fantastic options there).

Zoflorabore · 25/03/2019 20:52

Merseyside to live in ( love it here ) and Lincolnshire for hols in the U.K as the place is lovely.

We've got some bloody lovely beaches here, a few miles out of the city of Liverpool and not many people realise that who just come to the city as tourists.
