So last night I was on FB and saw a decorate a post saying there were still places available on a cookie decorating workshop.

Well I love that crap, and sent a PM to say interested. The lady came back to me to say to reserve place I should pay. I duly did, and thought would introduce myself further.

The group was called first mummies club, but I assumed it was like Mumsnet so ALL mums welcome. Boy was I wrong.

"Normally, First Mummies' Club is aimed at Mums of primary school aged children and below.

When other Mums have approached me before who have older children, I've suggested alternative groups that may be more suitable."

Really?? I'm not welcome to do crafts as I have older children??

As you've paid me, I'd be happy to have you on this occasion.

Could it be a workshop to help mothers with younger children, inspire them with ideas etc so they can do craft activities with their children at home?

Not going by the pictures they used to advertise it. I'd be pretty impressed by child who could do that sort of icing! I'd be impressed with myself if I could (and I love all this stuff)

cookielove · 20/03/2019 21:11

@wartfordmummy

I have done a few cupcake classes at heaven is a cupcake! Always enjoyable :)

TheBigFatMermaid · 20/03/2019 21:12

Well, all the reviews apart from your are a bit, well..... netmums.

I think they actually see the sparkles and twinkles as they post, even though FB doesn't give that option!

Loved the way Lisa encouraged us to think about our families and the things we love. Envy Not envy.

Thought they were meant to be having 'me time' not focusing on the family they have got away from! Grin

I think you are better off out of it, to be honest, go look at adult education classes, which will be open to all.

Those rabbit cookies are beautiful.

I don't think I could keep them down, though, if I were surrounded by mummies pondering...what is joy?

watfordmummy · 20/03/2019 21:13

Yeah definitely more Netmums than us!! Grin

Please can I join the hot flush/menopause mummies club? However, I'm peri menopausal & haven't yet had a hot flush....but I do like eating cookies & swearing at life's absurdities... we could ice swear words onto cookies & take selfies with them whilst sticking the middle finger up & post them on our FB page? 😇

TheBigFatMermaid · 20/03/2019 21:17

Mumsymumphy that sounds perfect!

watfordmummy · 20/03/2019 21:17

@Mumsymumphy very welcome to our group- see I wouldn't exclude you even if you weren't peri!!

nicenewdusters · 20/03/2019 21:23

I don't think you're too old for the group OP, just not annoying enough. That video on the FB page, do people actually watch these things back?

I'm totally uncreative but I love tea, and eating. Come round to mine and we'll decorate a packet of Rich Teas to look like grumpy women of older children who get pissed in the afternoon. Brew Biscuit

KrazyKatlady · 20/03/2019 21:23

hahah I was just laughing at the (multiple) posts from Blessing James as well!

Mumsymumphy · 20/03/2019 21:29

Thank you for not excluding me from the breakaway group on the grounds of my not yet having a hot flush. Fully inclusive 👍🏼 However, I have looked at the FB link and fear I am approximately 200 miles away 😰

Theimpossiblegirl · 20/03/2019 21:30

OK, which one of you is Blessing James and is spamming the group with your testimonies?
Grin

TheBigFatMermaid · 20/03/2019 21:32

I am sitting on my hands to not comment that they are in the easiest stage of parenting too.

Babyhood is hard, they are demanding as they need their mum (usually) every second of every day. Then comes toddlerhood, when they are still very needy, know what they want and spend and awful lot of time being frustrated they cannot express their wants.

They they go to school they are reasonably articulate, certainly enough to make clear their wants and needs, BUT you know where they are and who they are with for most of the time.

Then they get that bit older, they can perfectly well express their needs and more importantly to them, their wants, they also are not always where you expect them to be, or with who you expect them to be with. Even if they are angelic darlings, you are at this stage, dealing with the nastiness of others in ways never experienced before.

They think they're stressed and need time out now! Grin

7circlemats · 20/03/2019 21:36

I watched two seconds of the 'joy' video and she is already the most annoying woman I've ever seen. You're better off without that bollocks OP!

watfordmummy · 20/03/2019 21:36

@Mumsymumphy we can include you via a video link, we will not exclude on distance!!!!

OP posts:
Namechangeforthiscancershit · 20/03/2019 21:38

I can't see Blessing James' posts. Am I being dense?

DistanceCall · 20/03/2019 21:39

I really, really want a man to ask to join the group.

THEN they will freak out Grin

Oblomov19 · 20/03/2019 21:39

You dodged a bullet OP! 🤮

Agree with pp:

watfordmummy · 20/03/2019 21:40

@Namechangeforthiscancershit you need to look at previous events, and then you'll see his wisdom Grin

OP posts:
watfordmummy · 20/03/2019 21:41

@DistanceCall but the man need to meet the school age children criteria!!

Crafts, wafts, draughts and laughs association.

Reters · 20/03/2019 21:42

Tosspots.

That is all.

ImperfectTents · 20/03/2019 21:49

Omg the blog www.firstmummiesclub.co.uk/blog/love-bombing

DaphneFanshaw · 20/03/2019 21:49

Oh fucking hell. I agree, you really dodged a bullet. Can you imagine turning up and having to talk all about your family, your feelings and all the things that you love when all you wanted was to decorate a fucking biscuit.
