I've just finished watching Behind The Curve on Netflix - a documentary about the Flat Earth movement. I remain unconvinced but still good fun to watch.

My favourite conspiracy theory though is the Titanic/Olympic one which I'm inclined to believe 🙈 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/RMSTitanicalternative_theories

The funniest dinosaurs never existed, that all the bones found were made and that the eart is 6000 years old..

Oh I heard that they were buried by Satan to fool the scientists.

I thought they were put there by the Christian god to test Christians' faith, along with all the other evidence for Earth being more than 6,000 years old.

A pupil told me about a rogue planet that was about to careen into the Earth and knowledge of this was apparently being suppressed by the scientists, who were controlled by Tony Blair and the bankers (this was a few years ago). Everyone in the world would shortly have a microchip injected into our arms to make the control complete. The really scary thing was that this was a supposedly-bright kid about to take his Science GCSEs.

Thatlibrarymiss it’s called niburu or Planet X, apparently it’s the end of the world every couple of weeks/months/ years as its orbit which isn’t like the other planets around nears the earth, it will change the electromagnetic force of the earth and basically poof! We’re dead. A “friend” of mine was trying to show me pictures of it he had taken... the amount of shite facts he told me about this and other theories (like the moon is fake, a projector apparently, we’ve never been to space and all footage from the iss are faked and done in a studio...) 🙄

There is a video of her dancing on Ellen with a suspicious package moving around in her trousers.

Mrs Clooney is also alleged to be biologically male.

Weirdly enough, the same people who think the iss is fake, that space itself is a hoax ( yes, really) and that the earth is flat are the same who believe in ancient aliens... now honestly not sure that other life forms exist somewhere though doubt the use us as slaves or that the queen is shape shifting lizard. Those fake iss videos are quite perplexing though... not sure if watching enough of them wouldn’t get me to think the iss is fake...😉

There is a podcast from This American Life. One of the recent episodes on conspiracy theories was eye-opening. They covered the damage that the "truth seekers" cause, including the awful pursuit of the family of a boy who died at Sandy Hook. Sad, awful people who torment grieving families.

They also covered the truth behind Alex Jones and tried to "out conspiracy" him.

An interesting listen.

Just to add my two pen'orth - I know someone who worked in the palace who told me with good authority the Andrew story, minus the aids bit, decades ago...

I always remember the Jamie lee Curtis rumour circulating in the 90s that she was actually a man or a hermaphrodyte or something...

That the medical companies have already found a cure for Cancer, but the money they make and the tax the government earn stops the news coming out.

Ok, the reason I called out the Michelle Obama story is because I think it can be considered racist. There is a difference between a genuine conspiracy theory and racist propaganda to discredit someone of a certain race. The Obamas put up with a lot of shit, like the birth certificate rumors, just because a lot of people didn’t want to see a black man as president.

I love conspiracy theories and actually believe it’s really important to question the truth of what people in power tell us, but I have no time for stuff like the Sandy Hook theories or holocaust deniers. They aren’t real conspiracy theories. They are just lies made up by white nationalist, basically. I have no doubt there will be loads made up about the recent New Zealand shootings too.

I don’t think the poster who posted the Michelle Obama story meant it that way, just it can be considered that way, so I think it’s better not to repeat those kinds of rumors or gossip.

I hope that makes sense. Not being mean to anyone. Just trying to explain my point of view.

My dad was serving in the army at the time, my friend's fathers were killed and injured as a result I'm well aware of the costs thank you. Doesn't make what happened right, doesn't mean I have to agree with your belief of what happened. Senior military leaders may have been "gung Ho" types the ones that would never be likely to see active service. I still believe there were serious political motivations behind the conflict happening.

On aliens - surely it would be weirder if our planet were the only one in the vastness of space with life forms, pretty unlikely isn't it? Think it also likely that even planets we're aware of never had life at some point, entirely possible they had their own global warming or similarly disastrous planet wide extinguishing of life event. Personally I think it'd be incredibly arrogant to assume ours the only planet with life either now in the last or which will in the future after we're long gone.

I love all the ancient astronaut crap - I binge watched a few series on maternity leave. It’s like reading stories your 5 year old has written!

Thanks for the heads up, I shall refrain from using such words as this in future, I have after all a collection, albeit small, of tinfoil hats myself 😉. It transpires that crystal skulls are a thing though have only glanced at sites, I will report once i’ve Had time to «research»... maybe they are onto something 🧐

There's also a conspiracy that tin foil hats aren't actually made of tin at all, but aluminium, and that there is no such thing as tin foil at all. Fancy that!
