Bloody Sunday prosecution

Somerville · 14/03/2019 11:57

Only one man will be prosecuted for murdering civilians at the Bloody Sunday civil rights march.

The long-delayed inquiry found that all the killings were unjustified, that every adult and child who was killed had been unarmed, and that no warnings were gven before soldiers opened fire.

British justice at it's finest, eh?

Nah they don’t matter

Nobody has said that. Not one person.

In fact upthread I mentioned Cpt Bob Nairac, he was my dad's best friend. DP is ex army. I have no sympathy with the IRA either.

What I do and will always have, is sympathy for innocent civilians caught and oppressed during a conflict that was not of their making and they never wanted or deserved.

It is not in question IF atrocities were committed by some British soldiers, they did. Not all of them, and some of them were victims.

You're mistaken and actually quite offensive to imply that anyone had minimised anything.

And I'm not being funny, being in Manchester the day before an attack doesn't qualify you to have a pop at other posters on here who lived through it all, daily.

Wind your neck in.

Imissgmichael · 14/03/2019 20:54

Nah you wind your neck in. Who the hell are you to tell people they aren’t entitled to an opinion. I’ve looked at some of the comments on here and there’s a lot of minimising.

Imissgmichael · 14/03/2019 20:58

Oh and you have no idea if I lost lost people in the Manchester cowardly attack or any other cowardly attack. Here’s a tip, yep I’ve lost people due to terrorism and war so you wind your neck in.

MutantDisco · 14/03/2019 20:58

Ugh Gavin Williamson's comment Angry this government is everything I hate about the UK.

Utterly disgraceful that there won't be justice for the majority of those murdered on Bloody Sunday.

Imissgmichael · 14/03/2019 21:08

Why is the government putting a member of the security forces on the dock whilst letting IRA known murderers off? Hello anyone.

LadyGregorysToothbrush · 14/03/2019 21:36

Why is the government putting a member of the security forces on the dock whilst letting IRA known murderers off?

Because that soldier unlawfully killed 5 people that day, as found by Lord Justice Saville. Shot people in the back, in the head, as they were running away and as they were trying to help others who were lying dying in the road. And he lied about it for 40 years, aided by the shameful coverup of Widgery, the MOD and successive British governments.

Don’t you expect members of the British armed forces to be held to a higher standard than those of an illegal terrorist group?

As for “letting off known IRA murderers”, what exactly are you referring to here? GFA prisoner releases? “On the run” letters?

FlaviaAlbia · 14/03/2019 21:43

No matter what atrocities were carried out, it doesn't give the army licence to kill civilians, including children, without consequences.

if that’s true

If? If? Are you really coming on this thread about the murder of unarmed innocent civilians without bothering to inform yourself?

LadyGregorysToothbrush · 14/03/2019 21:53

Your whataboutery is disgusting Imissgmichael

FlaviaAlbia · 14/03/2019 21:54

You think it's ok that the murder of children goes unpunished? That's an unusual opinion.

I’ve just looked at a report which stated 187 IRA terrorists were let off. You do realise that some of these poor baby’s were murderers.

Imissgmichael · 14/03/2019 22:19

Flavia where have I said that?

LadyGregorysToothbrush · 14/03/2019 22:21

I suspect the intricacies of the prisoner release scheme under the GFA are beyond your humble ken. Shame.

FlaviaAlbia · 14/03/2019 22:24

Right where it now says "Message deleted by MNHQ". Hth

iklboo · 14/03/2019 22:27

Nobody was killed in the Manchester IRA attack.

Imissgmichael · 14/03/2019 22:29

Well perhaps your right ken. I’m one of those odd people who thinks violence against people should be illegal. What a nasty bitch I am.

Imissgmichael · 14/03/2019 22:36

Of course your right lady. We should cower in the corner and cow tow to terrorists.

Amortentia · 14/03/2019 22:51

I’m no supporter of the IRA but the British military are an instrument of the British state, their behaviour should never be comparable to a terrorist organisation.

They were there to keep the peace, not lose control and kill civilians. Or, carry out a vendetta

Imissgmichael · 14/03/2019 22:52

libel

TooTrueToBeGood · 14/03/2019 23:00

We were at war and British soldiers acted accordingly

No, we werent and that is a fundamentally important point. The blame for the disgrace that was Bloody Sunday lies not with the soldiers. It lies with whichever lunatics decided to deploy the paras for what was a civil policing task. They are offensive combat troops, trained for aggressive attack. Assigning them to a policing role is like putting wolves in charge of the sheep. It was only ever going to end in bloodshed.

almondfinger · 14/03/2019 23:05

Imissgmichael, can I ask your affiliation in the North?

Imissgmichael · 14/03/2019 23:09

Derek wood, David Howes, mckurks bar bombing, Warrington bombs - I could go on and on. Oh i remember one girl losing both legs in an attack. Yet idiots on here don’t seem to care about the victims of terrorism.

BeGoodTanya · 14/03/2019 23:17

Oh, ignore imiss, or give him or her a basic reading list.
