I feel upset, sick and cheated by Leaving Neverland

I was one of those people who kept saying the men are out to make money. That there’s no evidence etc. But I finally watched the documentary yesterday and it’s hurt me a lot. I feel like I was lied to my whole life. I know it sounds so melodramatic and selfish but MJ was my idol growing up. I remember being 7 years old and dancing and singing his songs.

Now I feel sick to the core. If Wade Robson and James Safechuck are lying, then they’re incredibly good liars.

MJ was a paedophile.

I thought he was even before this documentary. Having said that, even if by some slim chance he didn't do anything, he is still guilty of manipulation and abuse.

He used his wealth and fame to manipulate families, to separate them and to get the boys on their own whether he abused them or not. Look at what his massive sense of entitlement did to Wade's family. His mum left Australia and took the 2 youngest DC with her. Then the eldest wanted a taste of that good life and went over there. Wade's dad was in a bad place and took his own life.

I believe MJ did all those things and more that we will eventually come to hear about. But even with the benefit of the doubt, he wrecked families and drove parents away from their DC. He was toxic.

LostwithSawyer · 13/03/2019 14:21

It wasn't just the recounts of Wade and James that convinced me, it was that creepy birthday message to Wade.
It literally made my skin crawl.
Who talks like that to a child, gushing about this amazing day they were born and he loves him! Confused
It's so wrong and the guy was a paedophile and a very clever one!

JustBloodyCold · 13/03/2019 14:23

I totally believe the documentary. Every word of it.

What I want to know is what the fuck was Lisa Marie Presley doing? What did she know and why hasn't she come clean on all this. Turning a blind eye makes her culpable in my mind. How can she live with herself?

Persimmonn · 13/03/2019 14:24

I did think he had children over for sleepovers innocently, because I never paid attention to it. I never followed his trials or what was happening. I made a decision that I liked MJ so he was innocent, and the court cases proved he was innocent and that was that.. I guess he had everyone seduced, which is why I feel so sick.

I’ve just looked at the link with the evidence found in his room and Christ almighty. Bloodied bed linen? Size 4 underwear? All those nude boy images and pornography. Ffs. That is not “art”. That’s actively feeding your desires. One of the sites he’d been visiting, I’m not going to type it here, but fuck. He had his own kids by then. Sick.

I really hope more men come out

I have some doubts about Wade but not about what he said, I just think he is quite grabby...but that’s another discussion.

I must admit the purpose of the documentary did confused me. I watched it not long after seeing the Surviving RKelly one, and they were starkly contrasting.
Firstly, there was nothing new in the MJ documentary was there? Despite Wade and James’ recollections there isn’t any new evidence that has come to light. Are they trying to take this through the courts does anyone know? I know MJ was acquitted of all charge in early 2000s after 15yrs of FBI investigations which is probably why so many people still say he is innocent. But surely without any new proof there can’t be another outcome?

I do feel sorry for MJs children and family. This must be horrific for them

Aeroflotgirl · 13/03/2019 14:32

Oh god LostwithSawyer that birthday message to a little boy was so awful. Not just 'Happy birthday, hope you have an awsome day' like a normal person would.

JustBloodyCold · 13/03/2019 14:32
  • I mean Priscilla. Not Lisa Marie. Brain dead, sorry
Aeroflotgirl · 13/03/2019 14:33

This yuck, the deep breathing and rasping, and inappropriate language used by MJ to Wade.

Aeroflotgirl · 13/03/2019 14:34

He has got this kind of suggestive look about him, when giving the message.

NooNooHead1981 · 13/03/2019 14:37

I used to love his music, bought his album as my first cassette, and had posters of him on my walls and watched videos like Moonwalker. I remember the way my DM said that I would love to meet him, she thought I was a real fan. I was only aged 7 at the time, no older than those poor boys were at the start of the abuse. And my DD is not much older than I was... the thought of anything happening to a child of that age is sickening and Heartbreaking. I’m saddened by it all, but not completely shocked. My DM always used to comment on his fake voice and persona, and she never believed he was innocent.

I’m going to have to purge my music collection tonight, and never see another Michael Jackson impersonator in concert again - sorry, Navi.

NewspaperTaxis · 13/03/2019 14:39

Jackson was the master of misdirection, it seems. All that stuff about the oxygen tent and Bubbles the Chimp and marrying Liz Taylor and the plastic surgery, all such crazy nonsense the paedo stuff almost seemed innocent in that it's just a nice celeb being good to kids.

I mean, having a bunch of kids over is misdirection too - surely he's not going to try it on with a load of kids in the room, that's protection of a kind? That's what I'd think. I haven't seen the doc.

At a massive church second hand book sale recently I happened upon an autobiography by Sir Jimmy Savile from the 70s. I flicked through it, thinking, well he won't mention his paedo tendencies! But he does. It's in full sight. He talks like it's a jolly romp with teenage girls and doesn't specify their age. They all come on to him, apparently. Plausible if you're David Cassidy or a Bay City Roller, but maybe not if you're the 40 something Saville. He even calls one his 'kidnapper' like he's the victim, but it's all described in a vague way like it's a 1970s saucy comedy, where he has to hide from interfering parents who suspect.

But the State is also good at this kind of misdirection.

RockyFlintstone · 13/03/2019 14:40

Listen to the spoken intro to 'I Just Can't Stop Loving You'.

Creepy or what?!

ciderhouserules · 13/03/2019 14:40

Like you, OP I also thought 'he never had a childhood, he is a child-like figure, he surrounds himself with children to recreate a childhood he never had...' - IF i thought about it at all.

BUT - of course he was not a child (nor would he have been tried as one, even as a 'celebrity' 'child') - he was a very adult, very astute business MAN. Who knew exactly what he was doing. Angry

It's scary how much 'celebrity' blinds people. Saville, Rolf Harris, even Trump are all viewed though the 'celebrity' halo. They can do no wrong in some people's eyes. Doesn't matter what or how much evidence there is.

ciderhouserules · 13/03/2019 14:44

I remember a few years ago when Savile was first accused - the posts on MN were horrific. Full of apologists; he was a 'wonderful man' who did so much for 'charity', why didnt these grabby girls make their accusations when he was alive, and he is no longer alive to defend himself, he should be left in peace...

I really hope those awful posters have woken up to it all now. It's everywhere. in plain sight.

Persimmonn · 13/03/2019 14:46

Northern I think the documentary showed the grooming process, and even Dan Reed said he wanted to show how an abuser encapsulates the victim and the family. It wasn’t anything new, but hearing it from the victims directly about how the relationship began rather than news stories or online gossip magazines really hit home.

I don’t think I ever believed because I remember MJ always saying that he’s always picked on by the media and even his songs used to be about people putting him down etc. I really believed he was bullied or whatever because that’s what his songs were always about.

That birthday message makes me shiver. Horrible. “Your mother and father who conceived you” wtf?! Absolutely weird.

Aeroflotgirl · 13/03/2019 14:47

Watch this Police video of him being asked if he is a paedophile, he looks like a creepy clown, he is squirming and his body language is quite telling.

stairway · 13/03/2019 14:47

What MJ did behind closed doors is hard to prove. He probably was a abusing. I’ve seen the documentary. My only issue is both Safechuck and Robson have previously managed to convince a jury that MJ was innocent, therefore they would have been very convince in court. All parents involved liked the money let’s be honest particularly Safechucks mum. She clearly has a massive house and has had several facelifts.

HeritageCarrot · 13/03/2019 14:50

aeroflot flipping heck that birthday greeting is as creepy as fuck. Who the heck speaks to a child like that and in that way.

Aeroflotgirl · 13/03/2019 14:54

I know HeritageCarrot yuck, who says that to a child. I think Stairway the most compelling evidence was the material found recently at his Neverland Ranch, I have never been so shocked.

Palominoo · 13/03/2019 14:57

He's dead, it should all have all been dealt with whilst he was alive.

The ones coming out of the woodwork now are motivated by money and greedy lawyers.

Aeroflotgirl · 13/03/2019 15:00

Right Palomino so we should not be discussing it, like we shod not be discussing Saville then!

MaybeitsMaybelline · 13/03/2019 15:03

I was an adult when all the original allegations came about. I never ever believed he was innocent even in those days when people were less aware of, or able to talk about abuse.

Sorry, but I always thought he was a weirdo, and one that got weirder with every year that passed.

I was never a MJ fan, so I had no feelings towards him either way. His behaviour just felt wrong, even then.

I believe MJ fans have been seduced, groomed and manipulated in the same way as his victims and their families.

Persimmonn · 13/03/2019 15:04

He was so hidden in plain sight. I am really angry about being deceived all these years. Like with Rolf Harris too; I watched Rolf’s cartoon club and tried to draw like him. What utter fuckers.

I really wonder how many of them there are in showbiz these days.

OP posts:
Patroclus · 13/03/2019 15:04

I feel lke it was easy for me to believe, being born in 1989 I only ever knew the creepy MJ with crap weird music. I was amazed to find out he was actually black and had good music when i got older and would say I am fan of the jackson 5. Is it just the fact people are big fans and dont want to believe it in a lot of cases, or have they been groomed as well?

MadgeMak · 13/03/2019 15:06

Knew it wouldn't take long for the paedo apologists to join this thread. Vile.
