Tonight , I reversed into a parked car...can I have your stories to help me feel better

Just that really. Trying to line up with a parking bay and just took my eye off the ball
Went too far back on a not very wide road and heard the sickening crunch.

Gutted.

I know it’s too late now but get parking sensors fitted ASAP. Was there much damage ??

I reversed into DHs car. Parked outside the garage instead of in it and I backed without looking as I didn’t expect it to be there

I reversed into a street name sign. It was at knee height, so I couldn't see it in the mirror.

I smashed DF’s wing mirror after he kindly lent me his car. Tried to park beside the garden wall and ripped it right off. I lied and told him it happened in the car park! He tried to bundle me back in the car to return to the car park and retrieve the mirror so he could fix it. So I had to come clean otherwise he’d have had me wandering round the car park all night.

I reversed into a pillar in a multi story. I just didn't see it. In my defence it was stone grey and there were a lot of scuff marks on it already from cars hitting it, but I made a good mess of my boot door.

RandomMess I do that regularly because the bin men leave the bin right behind my car and it’s below window height so I don’t see it and reverse into it!

Me And husband were oohing and ahing over the reversing camera in his new car. ‘So clear’ we exclaimed! ‘Such good alwrting’ We gasped. ‘The car begins looks so close’ And then we hit it 😬😂 no damage though thank goodness!

I parked the Big Car nose-in too close to a high kerb and hooked it over. Took off Something Important reversing off. Oopsie.

I reversed into a post (very dark grey post in the dark) in the work car park twice in 3 months. Not just a little scrape either. Massive dents both times
My friend drove into a post. Got home after picking her car up from being fixed and drove into the same post Grin

Ah these things happen!! We are only human. I was at work and had such a good day. When I clocked out, I got into my car at our rear car park, put my music on full blast. I changed my gear into reverse and at full speed reversed back into my managers car. I couldn't believe it Grin. I jumped out, luckily nobody saw. I double checked over both of our cars and not a scratch. I was lucky because the sound it made was as if something terrible had happened!!! I am even giggling about it now.. ! Halo

I reversed into our porch! New car with parking sensors that I ‘didn’t need’! DH was stood on the drive as I did it as well! Thankfully no damage as I was going very slow 😅

Sat my driving test. My lovely dad had driven me there in his car and when I said I'd passed he threw me the keys and left to catch the bus. I got in the car and reversed straight into my driving instructor's car.

If that doesn't make you feel better not much will.

Scraped my company car along those bollards with stones set in them - caused £800 of damage serves then right for the MH problems they gave me

Newly passed test and I drove several mates to a party - one girl's (17yo) mum begged me to watch her all night and not to let her drink and I said I couldn't stop her from drinking but would make sure she got home okay, which just about passed muster. She was wrecked almost immediately, but sobered up enough by the time we drove home with my dog's water bowl on her lap just in case. Pulled in, parents came out and seemed pleased that daughter back in one piece, reversed to turn, saw girls dad looking concerned at his car and had to ask - I hadn't even realised I had hit their car! Shock They said it was okay, I got home and cried to my dad and got him to take me back there in the daylight to check - luckily friend's dad was still lovely about it and singing my praises for getting his daughter home, sooo Confused Blush

Bought a new (to me) car, shiny, clean, very expensive.
Parked at Costa and reversed into a pole, dented my lovely new boot and knocked the pole over
I cried Blush

Yes I did this when I’d just passed my test and was trying to see if I could judge how near I could get to my neighbours car while parking Blush.

Not only that but he was an utter knob about his car (spending hours cleaning it every weekend while ignoring his child who desperately wanted to play with him) and his wife was looking out of their bedroom window at the time Shock

He deliberately did the same thing to my car at least twice after that. I felt so sorry for his wife, being married to such a knob..

One of my best friends knocked the wing mirror off a police car on one of her driving lessons. I think they were very nice about it. Wasn't me honest! Although I did reverse into DH's car while he was sitting in it in the parking space behind mine. Blush

DH had pulled onto a single yellow line outside the supermarket in town to wait for me. Taxis and disabled regularly park there. He waited while I chucked the stuff in the boot and jumped in. There hadn't been anyone behind when I was at the boot. He threw it into reverse and shot back into the car of an elderly woman with a blue permit. The tow bar smashed her radiator and water flooded out, and pedestrians gathered round to gawp.
Fucking idiot but there was no point saying so or we'd have had a massive row on top of it all.
Anyway, mostly I am glad it was just a radiator and not the legs of some pedestrian walking between the cars. HmmAngryWine
And she was a very sweet old lady who sent a thank you letter to thank him for his help in sorting it out!

The night before last, this nonsense happened:
I bumped a neighbour's car (I’m a twat, I know). The cap on my tow bar caught his car emblem and they both popped off (sounded dramatic but no damage). The...common...lady a few doors down came storming out making a huge drama of it because her car was parked in front of mine (I didn't touch her car). Went to apologise to the dude who's car it is. Turns out he’s a proper laid back stoner. He said, and i believe this is verbatim, “is that it?” We popped the emblem back on. OH and stoner dude made chit chat as common hung out of her bedroom window waiting for the drama to kick off. He was like no harm done, no worries. She kicked off because there was no drama, shouting at OH and stoner dude. She can't stand me for some reason and we made a new friend in stoner dude. So, overall, bumping his car was overall for the best Grin

Ive done this two times

One was in pitch black darkness and i heard something break

I just wanted to drive away but i was parked at the back of some houses and as it was dark couldn't see the damage so i walked up the path and knocked at the back door and explained what id done

The lady of the house started yelling at me saying how coukd i be so stupid and i just said 'you know I could have just driven off and youd be none the wiser'

The husband agreed with me and i gave him my number

He rang me the next day and said id just broken the badge and he was happy with £20, so the following week i popped back up and gave him his £20 and his wife a bunch if flowers Grin

It is a horrible thing to happen Flowers
