Just that really. Trying to line up with a parking bay and just took my eye off the ball
Went too far back on a not very wide road and heard the sickening crunch.

Gutted.

I nearly always take our little MX5 to work and park with no problems in the multi-storey car park, which has quite tight turns into the ramps/spaces. One day I had to take the much bigger Mazda 6, parked fine but on the way out misjudged the left turn onto the down ramp, and scraped half the passenger side on the safety barrier. Have had to get a new door and a new rear panel, insurance company only just about agreed to pay for repairs rather than writing it off. Blush

Love the Robert Plant spread across the bonnet story!

I also, aged 17 and barely driving scraped a car in a Waitrose car park. It was a 2CV with those sticking out wheel arches. The lady who owned it was on her way back to it with her trolley and was so lovely. Another chap was hopping up and down with his hand in the air, saying 'I saw her, I'm a witness, here's my details' etc. Meanwhile the driver just brushed him off saying 'I don't think that will be necessary' and to me 'let me discuss with my husband and get back to you'. This was pre-mobile phone days, and I was away from home. That evening, she rang my dad and said to just forget about. 30 years later, I remember that kindness and hope that it any new driver ever did the same to me, I will pay it forward.

Drove into the neighbors perfectly stationary white van. Thankfully no damage to the van, but I destroyed my headlight.
The neighbor was lovely and said that it might just be the impetus to make her DH finish paving their drive and stop parking on the road.
I also drove into a bin outside McDonalds. They're next to where I used to work. The car park was darker than usual as lights were out. The big plastic bin was usually placed on a narrow verge, but for some reason it had been placed next to it and I clipped it with my wing mirror. Large bin then went tumbling down the car park.

I've just remembered my dad once drove his moped "under" a barrier as it rose up to let him through. Except of course he misjudged it and actually smashed his forehead into the barrier and needed stitches. And it was at work. On cctv. And he had to report himself.

He didn't have the moped for long after that Grin

I reversed into a post, I have parking sensors but my dog was barking and I couldn’t hear them. So technically it’s not my fault it happened.. it’s the dogs

I reversed at some speed into my best friends car. Whilst it was parked on my drive. I was driving my husbands car. I had to text my husband to tell him what had happened. He was travelling back from visiting his dying father. It was not a good week. I did about £2000 of damage to her car.
