What did you use to love as a child that you can't see the attraction of now?

I was looking back to when I was a teenager on a school trip to the Barbican to see, I forget, probably The Importance of being Ernest. And before it started a group of us had a grand old time riding the lifts. Confused A friend of mine who used to bunk off lessons regularly would find it great fun to hide under the stage during assembly. Why??? It was dark, damp and full of creepy crawlies. She shakes her head and laughs at herself now.

I also tried a cough candy the other day (which I used to love on the rare occasions I had them). I couldn't finish it. Too much sugar in one go (probably just as well).

Anyone else want to share their remembered pleasures which turn out to be a bit meh, or 'WTF was all that about?' as an adult?

The Flumps. Thought they were the bees knees when I watched them as a child.

Bought my DC the DVD. Watched about three minutes of the first episode. WTAF was all that even about???

Played for hours and hours and HOURS on The Sims. Got a version of it for the Xbox recently and lasted 20 minutes before I got bored!

hopeishere · 26/02/2019 16:27

Baked beans. Cannot stomach the thought of them now!

Johnny depp and Orlando bloom when they were in pirates of the Caribbean.

Pot noodles, they are rank

I agree with the Sims I loved it as a kid, couldn't play it now though.

I used to eat a whole tin of 8 hotdog sausages with 4 slices of dry bread. The thought just about turns my stomach now.

I adored them. Now they just seem filthy and irritating.

Horses. Stereotypical horse mad girl begging parents for a horse.
They are stinky and scary and I’m disappointed in my parents for forking out the money to fund my fantasy.

EstrellaDamn · 26/02/2019 16:55

Really sugary food - Coco Pops and Nutella. I can't touch either now, can't believe they were standard food in the 80s.

AtleastitsnotMonday · 26/02/2019 16:58

I used to love the very few occasions when mum went out and dad was responsible for dinner. We would always have pasta with baked beans and melted cheese which I would then dump a ton of white pepper on. Replicated it a few times in my student days, but the thought now turns my stomach.

Meet0nTheledge · 26/02/2019 16:59

Angel Delight

GummyGoddess · 26/02/2019 17:01

@RosiePozie to be fair, Sims 2 was amazing, 3 was meh and it's all been shit since then.

I used to like having short hair as a child, do not like it at all now!

Meet0nTheledge · 26/02/2019 17:01

I don't recall Coco Pops being standard food in the 80s any more than they are now (we never had them or Nutella). Maybe I just had strict parents - the Angel Delight was a rare treat.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 26/02/2019 17:01

Pigeon street and Button Moon.Do not YouTube them if you were a fan,it ruins it

Slippershoes · 26/02/2019 17:02

Boyzone. I had so many posters in my room it looked like bloody wallpaper.
Not my cup of tea now at all.

SilverySurfer · 26/02/2019 17:06

Muffin the Mule Grin

RiverTam · 26/02/2019 17:06

oh, and Campbell's meatballs, loved them as a child but I did try them again as an adult - they'd make a good cure of constipation is all I'll say...

TheWaiting · 26/02/2019 17:07

YY to staying up late. Why???

But I must disagree with @ScoobyCan. I also bought my DCs The Flumps on dvd and I sat alongside them, mesmerised by the whole thing. They loved it!
