What did you use to love as a child that you can't see the attraction of now?

I was looking back to when I was a teenager on a school trip to the Barbican to see, I forget, probably The Importance of being Ernest. And before it started a group of us had a grand old time riding the lifts. Confused A friend of mine who used to bunk off lessons regularly would find it great fun to hide under the stage during assembly. Why??? It was dark, damp and full of creepy crawlies. She shakes her head and laughs at herself now.

I also tried a cough candy the other day (which I used to love on the rare occasions I had them). I couldn't finish it. Too much sugar in one go (probably just as well).

Anyone else want to share their remembered pleasures which turn out to be a bit meh, or 'WTF was all that about?' as an adult?

Pets. My DD loves cats, so we have three, I could live without them. I imagined when I grew up I'd have a house full of cats.

Food wise, tinned mince with mash. Liver and onions, with mash and gravy. Ulster fry, unless they've changed the recipe.

Birdsgottafly · 26/02/2019 17:49

MacDonalds fries. I want them to taste as amazing as I remember but they’re just meh.

I’ve become very squeamish about spiders and insects and creepy crawlies as I’ve got older. I was much braver as a child.

@RosiePozie I’ve just been playing the sims. Started playing when I was 11 which means I’ve been playing it for over half my life Shock. I’ve never liked it on consoles though.

Hushnownobodycares · 26/02/2019 20:44

Oh and snow.

So exciting as a child. So fucking annoying and inconvenient now.

roundtable · 26/02/2019 20:50

Going on swings.

Used to love going really high and making the chain raise up and then thump down.

Just sitting on it and moving millimetres makes my stomach feel funny.
