It's my pfb first world book day at nursery, so I'm excited. I expect the novelty will have worn off by next year, and I'll hate it Grin

Our school say either dress up as a character or go in pyjamas so mine are wearing pyjamas with their favourite book characters on and they will get more use out of the pyjamas afterwards than a costume.

We have Newt Scamander, Minnie and Minx and Dennis the Menace. I give precisely no fucks that they aren't book characters. We have 100s of children's books, making them dress up does nothing to encourage reading.

DD2 once went as Tiga Whicabim from Witch Wars (an actual book and she looked fab) and was teased because no-one in her class knew the book.

Oh.... our school aren't just doing NORMAL world book day.... oh no.

You have to send them dressed as their favourite word. I shit you not.

I am not making a statement with the word I'm sending DS as. Honest. 😉

@givemummythewhizzer, you are not sending in your DC with a poo emoji cushion by any chance, are you? 😉

One of my Facebook friends posted some photos of her family at a fancy dress party a few months ago.
Her 7 yr old son was dressed in a poo emoji costume. 💩 So like a giant poo with hands and feet and his head sticking out. They’d even found a poo emoji hat from somewhere. 🤷‍♀️

Thank you @ZebraOwl I think that's what I'm going to do, for both the penguin and the lion from the Lion, Witch and Wardrobe book. I refuse to buy costumes that get worn once and then thrown away - for one thing, I just don't have the money!

Their school really hasn't thought it through very well - they have to go as a character from their class novels. Yrs 5&6 are reading "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas"...

I wonder if they have been doing some Word Aware type training. It was a suggestion from one of the trainers in a training session we had recently. We are, however, doing a normal WBD.
