It's my pfb first world book day at nursery, so I'm excited. I expect the novelty will have worn off by next year, and I'll hate it Grin

*Hermione.

She annoys me so much I can't type her name! Grin

donkir · 25/02/2019 19:11

My 4yr old is going as Charlie from Charlie and Lola and I'm going as Luna from Harry Potter.

TheWitchwithNoName · 25/02/2019 19:11

Another percy Jackson here, his camp half blood t-shirt is winging its way by Pegasus now 😁

My twins are both going as spies from Spy Quest. They are identical so will be trying to trick people all day! Last book day for us tooGrin

Juanbablo · 25/02/2019 19:27

Ds2 wants to be the snail from The Snail and the Whale. Dd and ds1 have no ideas yet.

WaterlooElephant · 25/02/2019 19:28

Female Mad Hatter.

SausageSimon · 25/02/2019 19:43

DS is going as the scarecrow from the wizard of oz, I banned superheroes Grin

Kokapetl · 25/02/2019 20:52

DD is going as Princess Pearl from Zog and the flying doctors which as someone said unthread is easy once you've got a white coat and doctor set.

DS wants to be Mortimer Keene and has some glasses that should do so we'll get him a white coat too and maybe some science stuff (test tubes or something).

Didiplanthis · 25/02/2019 20:52

Same as they have for the last 2 years - white rabbit and tiger who came to tea. Hand me down onsies that just happen to fit the brief. Still got growing room so a few years yet I reckon !

chilledteacher · 25/02/2019 21:29

DS1 school not doing it. DS2 going as Dennis in The Boy in the Dress (any excuse to wear football boots). DS3 is only a baby but is going to wear a Woody costume to baby group because Mummy is a sucker for a novelty costume. I'm on maternity leave this year but loved being the Very Hungry Catterpillar last year with my little bump. DH is going as Robin Hood- again. 3 children and 2 teachers- we seriously get sucked into theme days. Although I prefer them to bloody Comic Relief cake sales where I end up cake baking for 4 separate schools and I support nursery next year too.

SillyYak · 25/02/2019 21:38

DD is going as Ivy from Ivy and Bean. Nobody will have the first clue who she is but she'll enjoy telling everyone.

cushioncuddle · 25/02/2019 21:42

Captain underpants.

nowlook · 25/02/2019 21:44

I'm glad those days are behind me! DS was always a very reluctant participant, so we had 5 years or thereabouts of Charlie Bucket (normal clothes; golden ticket)

heymammy · 25/02/2019 21:51

Ds 6 wants to go as Messi. The footballer. Who is not from a book.
Hmm

badwedding · 25/02/2019 21:54

DD is going as Katie Morag. Feel very smug at asking my DMIL to knit the jumper last year after I tracked down the pattern. Easily teamed with a kilt and wellies!

feejee · 25/02/2019 21:59

My 5 yr old wants to go as Little Skeleton from Funny Bones. I'm trying to convince him to be big skeleton so I can make a mask with a hat.

Nnnnnineteen · 25/02/2019 22:08

Last one dd did, she went as the dark haired one from the lion, the witch and the wardrobe. I want to say Lucy... regular clothes, some kind of vial for the life saving whatever.

Ilovewillow · 25/02/2019 22:12

My son is going as Zog as he has a onesie Zog! My daughter is at junior school and they don't dress up but in the past we have done Winnie the witch, Matilda and Hermione and my son was the hungry caterpillar last yr!

Laiste · 25/02/2019 22:17

@JumpOrBePushed - thank you :) That's a good and simple solution actually.

Easier than bloomin' Headwig really, which i had to create with only 12 (night time) hours notice for DD2 Grin I should count my blessings.

lucysmam · 25/02/2019 22:32

Dd2 is currently reading the My Secret Unicorn books, so is going as...a unicorn!

That's if I can work out how to make some boot covers & wrist warmers as quickly as possible, and if her tail skirt thing I've ordered turns up in time.

If not...who knows!?

No idea what I will be yet...we were all going to dress up (dinner ladies) as the kitchen staff usually do, but no-one seemed keen any more when I mentioned it today :(

MrsDeanWinchester75 · 25/02/2019 22:33

Belle from Beauty and the Beast, I know it was a film first but she has the book and most importantly for her gets to wear a yellow dress (she loves anything yellow)

It's also on her 6th birthday so she's even more excited.

MissBPotter · 25/02/2019 22:38

The mermaid from the singing mermaid.

KatamariDamacy · 25/02/2019 23:00

Big one is going as Pippi Longstocking - blue dress with patches, odd socks, plaits and freckles.

Little one as Peter Rabbit - rabbit ears headband, blue hoodie, whiskers and a carrot.

I try hard not to overthink costumes. They’ve got to wear them all day.

ohtheholidays · 25/02/2019 23:31

The Queen of Hearts,we've been lucky enough to find her a costume in her size she's still in primary but she's taller than her teacher so we have to go for Adult sized costumes and we've managed to find one that doesn't look like it was made for a hen night.

TitchyP · 26/02/2019 00:03

Each class in my DC school is given an author, kids have to dress up as a character from their books. A right pain in the arse it is too 😀
