It's my pfb first world book day at nursery, so I'm excited. I expect the novelty will have worn off by next year, and I'll hate it Grin

Thor is originally from Norse mythology. I’m sure children’s versions are available in book form somewhere.

Marvel just borrowed the character and put their own spin on him.

LuluJakey1 · 27/02/2019 18:44

DS is going as Max ‘King of the Wild Things’ from Where The Wild Things Are. He is 4.

Fulltimemummy85 · 27/02/2019 20:59

flowersaremyfave · 27/02/2019 21:44

My 4 year old is going as little red riding hood. She already has the costume and book so win win! No last minute dash to the supermarket for me 👍🏼😂

Cwtches123 · 27/02/2019 21:46

Dc loves the funny bones books so he is going to school in a pair of skeleton pajamas.

wildone81 · 27/02/2019 22:05

1 year old is obsessed with ‘that’s not my..., books, so these will do the job!

MadMum101

Hansel, ordinary clothes for wandering in the woods, and a bag full of gingerbread and sweets to eat through the day.

Owlettele · 27/02/2019 22:09

Cave baby and Mary Poppins this year.

Kez0777 · 27/02/2019 22:14

My 9 year old is going as Matilda and 7 year old was meant to be going as Maude from the worst witch but has now decided she wants to be Cinderella! At first I cared but now I don't give a shit as it's easier and she'll be happy Grin I work in a school and I'm going to go as Dennis the menace if I can get hold of a wig. I hate dressing up Sad

blockedbywho · 27/02/2019 22:38

Fulltimemummy85, Wednesday Addams was originally from a book! The Addams family first appeared in cartoons by Charles Addams, they didn't get names though until later on Smile

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 27/02/2019 22:51

Sending DD in as Katie Morag. My favourite outfit as it means I can escape fighting over hair brushing for one day.

Sophisticatedsarcasm · 27/02/2019 23:08

Belle, it’s her favourite princess 😊

jellycatspyjamas · 27/02/2019 23:36

I’m delighted that our school give the option of going in pyjamas (for bedtime stories), so I’m not scrabbling about for an obscure costume and my kids get to go to school, in pjs, and are delighted about it.

mustdrinkwaternotwine · 27/02/2019 23:52

Fantastic Mr Fox (Fox onesie & a blue jacket over the top; may try & make a top hat) and Paddington (Paddington onesie) here.

Kez0777 · 28/02/2019 06:53

I've just remembered oldest dd has to do a potato too 😤 found a mr bump one that
looks nice and simple but I'm sure she'll have more interesting ideas!

Aragog · 28/02/2019 07:07

Not got a primary aged child but I work in an infant school. I'll be dressed as a professor from Hogwarts school. I even treated myself to one of the 'real' cloaks on our last visit to the studios.

My sixth form age Dd volunteers at my school and is in on the day - she's quite excited having not done it for years. She's also going to be a Hufflepuff student - she already had the cloak and various Wanda anyway.

BibbityBobbityEars · 28/02/2019 07:16

Percy Jackson - normal clothes and possibly carrying a sword.

Ds hates dressing up with a passion. Thank goodness this is the last year of primary school!

Ffsnosexallowed · 28/02/2019 07:19

Thankfully dd's school has stopped the dressing up thing - instead they're doing a bedtime story theme, so everyone comes in their jammies with a favourite book

anniehm · 28/02/2019 07:35

They sell costumes now! It was really small and new when mine were small - most kids seemed to go as Harry Potter characters as it was new out!

ImportantWater · 28/02/2019 07:42

Ours are not dressing up this year. They have to dress potatoes up instead. DS wants to take in an undressed potato and say it is Paul the Potato from the Beano.

In the past they have been Dennis the Menace, Harry Potter and Hiccup.

Sophisticatedsarcasm · 28/02/2019 07:45

DS won’t dress up, he claims year 6 is too old to do it.... he has ASD so I will pick my battles 😂

ShoeJunkie · 28/02/2019 07:50

The gingerbread man - brown jogging bottoms and a brown long sleeve top from Amazon!

jigsawmaniac · 28/02/2019 07:59

Zog but can I find a costume?! Going to have to make something and that's not really one of my skills!

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 28/02/2019 08:01

@JumpOrBePushed brilliant thanks
