For me...

Finding out my newfound major celebrity crush is 35 years older than me... I thought he was only 40 odd. I'm extremely deflated.

And thinking I'd found a double youlked Haribo to win a holiday prize but I was pranked.

Lastly, my DS now saying Daddy and putting arms out to daddy. Until now, he's done my head in by constantly only ever wanting me. I feel quite upset now he's all for DH.

Polenta.
Florence.
The crap Yankee candle I bought for Christmas. 15 quid and smells of nothing.

Paddy1234 · 24/02/2019 19:23

Nandos
Don't get it at all

Mmmhmmokdear · 24/02/2019 19:24

The Greatest Showman. Went on my own in the day so I could fully enjoy it and not share my sweets. Absolute drivel. Had to go back home & pretend it was really good so DH wouldn't know I'd wasted my day and money!!

BartonHollow · 24/02/2019 19:24

Yes @slightlysnippy at least they gave us a proper ending. Sigh.

franke · 24/02/2019 19:28

The chocolate cake I've just made. A local cafe does a yummy buttermilk chocolate cake so I thought I'd have a go. Mine is solid and not very chocolatey Sad. So if anyone has a recipe for a buttermilk chocolate cake that is very chocolatey and light as a cloud, please let me know.

Kpo58 · 24/02/2019 19:30

The giant ferrero rocher that is sold at Christmas isn't one giant sweet. Sad

ForOldLandsEye · 24/02/2019 19:33

So so much. Life is one long disappointment and seems to be caused by everyone’s lack of arsedness in terms of cleaning, litter picking, maintenance, attitude and service levels.

Malta. = Llandudno with sun.
Manchester xmas market = normal market just more expensive & with music
The Lowry = boring and stark
Boden clothing = todler clothes, sized up
Charlotte Tilbury magic cream = no magic was witnessed.
Course of skin tightening treatments = skin is no tighter

Sigh. Very few things meet or exceed my expectations. I can only think of three. Game of Thrones, Disney World, Glen Coe.

slipperywhensparticus · 24/02/2019 19:35

Life in general I thought being an adult would be more fun I don't even get to have sex anymore Sad

TrainSong · 24/02/2019 19:42

Wales and Devon. You are too rainy and expensive. Brighten up or halve your prices. Or both.

Mamma Mia - unspeakably bad. Second only to Sex in the City.

I Capture the Castle - novel. It's everyone I know's favourite book from adolescence. I;ve been told I MUST read it so many times. So I did, and it's OK. Ish. Lots of very boring people and synthetic cheer at all sharing a jolly delicious egg between five of them because narcissistic bone idle father has forgotten to write anything for twelve years despite being a genius author. God I wouldn't want to bump into any of them on a long train journey.

norrismcwhirtersfridgemagnet · 24/02/2019 19:50

New Zealand. (North Island). Soooooo dull; Scotland nicer and closer.

KnittingSister · 24/02/2019 19:55

La La Land oh I'm so glad I'm not the only one! It looks lovely but there's no substance to it.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 24/02/2019 19:56

Marriage

Steamfan · 24/02/2019 20:10

Chester Christmas Market - same old, same old. (but the Cwm Deri Vineyard stall was wonderful!) In fact, Chester as a tourist town is just so sad. Shopping in the Grosvenor Mall is pitiful, the amphitheatre is an unloved hole in the group, but the Market has a lot of really good food stalls.

MrsDeanWinchester75 · 24/02/2019 20:22

Scottish Highlands, we'd always gone to the Lake District and decided to do a week in the highlands staying at Loch Awe, I naively thought they'd be similar but it's so vast with miles of nothing, no quaintness or prettiness .
The mountain passes are really wide with proper fast roads through them and it was impossible to find anywhere to park and walk the dog because it's so boggy.

I did however think Arisaig was fabulous.

Had my first bath bomb recently. Very underwhelming experience

Oh no, this reminds me of being a little girl and trying a bath bomb for the first time. My DMum told me once it fizzed a little in the water, it would bounce around the bathroom! Alas, it did not.

My celebrity crush is way too old, lives in America, and very happily married to a woman who is like a better version of me in many ways. All of those things are a little disappointing, but they do keep the daydreams in check

I Googled any ex partners/wives straight away to discover if I had a chance Grin

user No, definitely Fiennes! I stumbled upon his loveliness in Schindler's List... I watched it once before in my early teens but don't remember finding him memorable then. Just a deeply saddening film, leaving me speechless at the end. I rewatched just recently and got butterflies within 5 minutes of Fiennes appearing. My Jewish ancestry would be unimpressed.

Charlotte Tilbury magic cream = no magic was witnessed

Howling at this. A few Instagram ladies were promoting a Bobbi Brown lippy a couple of months back, it looked fab on them. Made me look like I didn't suit lipstick.

No summerisnearer they just float around, discarding their contents as they go and leaving a scummy film on the surface. Grim.

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 24/02/2019 20:45

Adulthood in general - so much fucking responsibility!

But specifically,
Showers - always seems like a good idea till I get out freezing
Cookie dough anything - not as nice as I expected
Posh chocolate
My washing - it never smells as lovely as I expect it to
Season 2 of Stranger things

TubbsAndEdward · 24/02/2019 20:50

The ending of Dexter.
Hours of my life for that !!

Largepiecesofcrookedwood · 24/02/2019 21:01

Last weeks daffodils turned out to be white Hmm
In the big scheme of things I acknowledge this is not an issue, but they pissed me off immensely and I was glad when they died
The week or so if ill disguised rage I endured was entirely disproportionate to the actual issue Grin

n0ne · 24/02/2019 21:21

Milan - my first trip to Italy, was so excited.
It's boring, there's nothing to do or see except the Duomo. And it was a nightmare trying to find a pub!

Toronto - ugly, boring, full of shopping malls and freeways, terrible food, ridiculously uptight about drinking (I'm not an alcoholic, promise! But getting evils off of bar staff when ordering my 3rd HALF pint... Fuck that)

Champagne - yeasty, not as nice as Cava or Prosecco etc

Caviar/Oysters - salty, fishy yuck

Driving! Finally passed my test at 34, thought it would open up the world to me, absolutely fucking hate it. Avoid it at all costs!

TheNavigator · 24/02/2019 21:27

I can't believe someone said cunnilingus! You need a different person doing it, I think - you can't have given it a proper try.

However I violently agree with cupcakes and krispy creme donuts & bathbombs - all just a bit meh.

LellyMcKelly · 24/02/2019 21:33

Hotel chocolat and Montezumas - would rather have a bar of Dairy Milk any day.
Massages - an hour of a complete stranger rubbing you then trying to sell you products at the end.
Giants Causeway - much smaller than expected. Done in an hour. National Trust have gilded the lily to within an inch of its life and then oversold it - see also Stonehenge.
The Greatest Show - the greatest songs but the storyline was a cringefest
Gin in an enormous glass. It’s basically 85% ice.
