Crazy and/or deluded OPs we have loved

I thought it might be fun to start a reminiscences thread about the craziest or least self-aware OPs from past threads. My favourite one of all was the supersoaker mum who was absolutely ADAMANT that her darling offspring should be allowed to take his supersoaker to another child's party in the park, even though it was a bit chilly, the party mum hadn't been keen and about a billion posters united to tell her she was BU! (I think it's in classics if anyone fancies a laugh Grin)

What have your favourites been?

OP posts:

Not crazy/deluded, but I still wonder about the OP who was having terrible abdominal pains on a train - I think the thread was called 'Am I going to die on the train?" but I can't find it now. I think she'd managed to alert the guard who was arranging medical help for her but she never came back :(

DobbinsVeil · 18/02/2019 12:02

The one where the OP had the genius idea to warm plates in a tumble drier, think it was in chat so possibly gone now.

I could really relate, having once convinced myself my bedroom would stay light if I switched the light off even though it was about 1am, as the walls were painted a light colour. And demonstrated this to my boyfriend at the time. "watch this - oh" Blush

x2boys · 18/02/2019 12:07

Yes I can't tinkly the posters name either billy but she was interested publicaly when a zombie thread revealed her to be childless or sonethung?...

StopMakingAFoolOutofMe · 18/02/2019 12:08

The thread about the lady who signed the consent form saying that she doesn't want her children in any photos taken by the school who then got upset because her children felt left out for not being in any photos Grin

Gloriously batshit.

x2boys · 18/02/2019 12:09

Think and outed ,stupid tablet changing words Hmm

DobbinsVeil · 18/02/2019 12:10

ah I remember that one too billy & x2boys. She also claimed to be a nanny and always maintained all babies should sleep through from 6 months and just needed a bit of a rub and pat to get them to sleep.

BartonHollow · 18/02/2019 12:12

Oh gosh I've just remembered the woman who started a thread about another woman who was falsely claiming to be the wife of a minor but quite well known British actor

It was 👀 and bonkers and other posters who had encountered the same woman in the same situation emerged

Then people started ruining it by naming her and it got pulled

Meralia · 18/02/2019 12:45

Ohh! There was a hilarious thread with a woman asking about baby names and whether a certain boys name could be shortened to something else? It couldn’t, but the replies were full of amazing puns!

For the life of me I can’t remember what name it was or where the thread is. If anyone remembers do please link.

BartonHollow · 18/02/2019 13:33

It was Hugh i think

What is Hugh short for ?

chocolatebuttonsandcheese · 18/02/2019 13:44

Who was the woman who used to post pictures off the internet of her 'swimming pool' to prove she was real?

Atrifleconfused · 18/02/2019 14:53

Oh my gosh I have just found the wonderful place that is NM’s classics!!

I have just finished the “villagers” thread but the next part has been removed and I now feel like ending it all...

What happened?!

Which other ones are worth a read?

itssquidstella · 18/02/2019 15:09

@BusySittingDown whatever happened to LaQueen? I loved her and her massive Georgian house.

HankNPat · 18/02/2019 15:25

spiderlight, I remember the OP with abdominal pains on the train. She wasn't a Londoner and asked for the nearest hospital to Marylebone station and another non-Londoner had Googled and suggested Moorfields (!) - fortunately she was also told St Mary's Paddington. IIRC the guard had phoned ahead for an ambulance to meet the train. She was whisked straight to StM's and kept in for a few days - I don't think she updated on her health problems though, I hope she's OK now.

DobbinsVeil, I was going to post about tumble-dryer-plate-warming OP too! That was so funny and she didn't get the immediate jokes and amused remarks until someone spelled it out for her "you know what happens inside a tumble dryer? It tumbles and all your plates will be smashed". She took it all in good humour - probably with a Blush.

Atrifleconfused. The villagers. It all started turning very sinister for the OP as she was posting on the second thread so she decided to go to the 'real' police in her nearest town for some proper help and got thread 2 deleted. Hope she is OK too.

weleasewoderick22 · 18/02/2019 15:40

One of the best for me was the woman who considered herself a very good interior designer because she and her df had bought and renovated a few properties. She had a massive hump because her sil didn't want her to do her house and the op was appalled because she considered the sil to have no style. The woman was completely deluded and the thread got pulled sadly.

CurlsandCurves · 18/02/2019 15:56

There was a thread a few months back with the incredibly overbearing mother who appeared to want full control over her adult sons life.

She was proper bonkers. Wouldn’t let him go to certain universities, didn’t like the girlfriend, etc.

Meralia · 18/02/2019 16:30

Ha! Yes thank you it was Hugh!

I’m going to try and hunt for the thread now!

BusySittingDown · 18/02/2019 16:33

@itsquidstella, I don't actually know Sad. There were a few theories floating around when she left.

Some said that she was a troll and was banned. I'm not sure if she was outed and therefore left or just simply left.

pootleposeyperkin · 18/02/2019 16:35

The op who was outraged that their oxford student dc was being taught by a tutor who had been to 'the likes of Manchester' and had a northern accent ! Someone asked if it was Brian Cox !

BirdieInTheHand · 18/02/2019 16:44

About ten years ago there was a woman on the relationships board who'd been dumped. There was talk of an OW but on the whole the bloke had treated her not unreasonably in the circumstances of a split.

It was very sad but with the encouragement Hmm of a number of posters she decided she was going to stay in his property.

As I recall there were no DC involved, it was a relatively short relationship and they werent married so she just started getting on with the business of throwing g his stuff out of his house.

It was bloody odd.

DobbinsVeil · 18/02/2019 16:55

That's what made the tumble thread so great HankNPat the OP was good humoured about it and nobody went for the jugular either. That I saw anyway

This one made me Grin.www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2481642-To-talk-to-this-girl

Ragnarhairybreetches · 18/02/2019 16:59

Oh all things Phyllis, come back Phyllis, indeed to know how your Christ child is doing.

BreakYourselfAgainstMyStones · 18/02/2019 17:54

I remember one from a few years ago where the op had seen a mum with a new baby walking around a supermarket.

The baby was crying and the lady was getting something from a shelf so the op offered to carry the baby around the shop for her. Lady declined.

A few seconds later the ladies mum appears and they get on with shopping.

The op was so worried this lady had post natal depression because she didn't immediately pick her baby up that people were suggesting reporting her to social services, and up wanted to go back to the supermarket to check the CCTV and get her number plate to track her down and/or call the police.

It was absolutely bonkers. I wouldn't be letting a stranger carry my baby around a supermarket either.

GunpowderGelatine · 18/02/2019 18:05

@MiddleClassProblem the necklace thread was comedy gold! She just couldn't grasp that she owed money for a more expensive one! I actually started to doubt myself on that thread because she was so confident she was right

GunpowderGelatine · 18/02/2019 18:05

I can't find it though unfortunately

Hushnownobodycares · 18/02/2019 18:29

The poster who had a row with the MIL culminating in the OP calling the MIL a carcass Grin
