Crazy and/or deluded OPs we have loved

I thought it might be fun to start a reminiscences thread about the craziest or least self-aware OPs from past threads. My favourite one of all was the supersoaker mum who was absolutely ADAMANT that her darling offspring should be allowed to take his supersoaker to another child's party in the park, even though it was a bit chilly, the party mum hadn't been keen and about a billion posters united to tell her she was BU! (I think it's in classics if anyone fancies a laugh Grin)

What have your favourites been?

@HankNPat thank you!!Thanks

EmmaGrundyForPM · 17/02/2019 15:45

definitely the poster who was looking for the book which she'd lent to the PRINCESS of TONGA. I'm fairly certain she was genuine as it was just so bizarre. Or should that be BIZARRE?

BettyUnderswoob · 17/02/2019 15:46

Jacques I was also disappointed that Tristan and Molly was called out as crap before the poster had written the conclusion.
They were all going to gather back together in Scotland while the posters husband told them the full truth of what he had seen/had happened to him that fateful, snowy night.

As if the poster wouldn’t have been ribbing him literally every single day to find out before then.😄

GerryblewuptheER · 17/02/2019 15:48

Yikes Grin

reallybadidea · 17/02/2019 15:49

@MrsSchadenfreude that makes sense, nobody is really called Brian, apart from in books, radio and so on.

Stickmangate · 17/02/2019 15:55

One of the first threads I read the op hated that their neighbour had painted their (the neighbours) side of the fence a colour I think or brown. Op wasn’t happy had recently moved back in to the property due to flooding thought they had the right to paint both sides of the fence a colour of their choosing. She didn’t like having to look at the different colour for the 2 seconds when driving passed.

Needadoughnut · 17/02/2019 15:59

I remember niteandfog but I think she was hated rather than loved.

Gentlygently · 17/02/2019 15:59

I remember one OP who had a business idea involving a cafe for parents, selling organic sandwiches, and a lovely play area, with upmarket nice toys rather than the ‘soft play’ ones. She seemed certain it would do very well, and that people would pay a premium for it. A number of people tried to inject a little more reality into the situation. I didn’t follow to a conclusion, if indeed there was one.

HankNPat · 17/02/2019 16:07

The stroller thread has to be one of the funniest for me www.mumsnet.com/Talk/general_advice_tips/752184-hauck-stroller-pound-25-Asda, not least because the OP's NN was so apt Grin

RedHatsDoNotSuitMe · 17/02/2019 16:15

I came on to say PhyllisNights, mollibu

Can't remember how she spelt it. I often wonder how her amazing baby turned out. He's not running the country yet, but I guess there's still time!

StoorieHoose · 17/02/2019 16:16

The fabulous mitmoo and the security light

ALongHardWinter · 17/02/2019 16:22

I absolutely loved the 'Snapped and farted' one. I was sniggering about it for days afterwards I'm so childish. Can someone enlighten me about the 'Sharon' thread? I don't recall seeing that. Is it a recent one?

HankNPat · 17/02/2019 16:26

There were a few Sharon threads - but from some years ago now.

PutyourtoponTrevor · 17/02/2019 16:43

I didn't get snapped and farted, the hilarity went right over my head. Plus it was definitely a typo

MiddleClassProblem · 17/02/2019 17:16

Snapped and farted wasn’t a typo which was the weird thing. The OP admitted so. Very funny. I’m not sure I can think of Elle Woods in the same way.

There was one which was probably a troll but I know people who would have the same level of mathematical skills so could be true. Her sister was selling 2 necklaces (say 1 for £100 and another for £200) and OP bought the cheaper one. She then decided she wanted the more expensive one but felt her sister was out of order for asking for the rest of the money for it. In the OP’s mind she had given £100 to her sister and was giving her another £100 by returning the first necklace so the £200 was already paid off.

I loved the shared bear one as it was real and very much a part of their family.

LilQuim · 17/02/2019 17:33

I have to say, I just read all of a thread in Classics that was more gripping than any novel I've read of late. I was so invested!! It's the one about the anonymous note from "the villagers". With special mention to the use of the word "fascinate".

Pinkiii · 17/02/2019 18:40

The poster who wanted to send Pizza to her kids 6th form because it was their birthday Grin

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 17/02/2019 18:57

The very wealthy Young woman who kept asking, I think for advice about staff, and managing several houses etc. I dont think she understood how real life worked.

BartonHollow · 17/02/2019 19:03

@Pinkiii

I think she DID send the Pizza and was spoken to by the school and couldn't see the problem.

Might not be recalling correctly

BartonHollow · 17/02/2019 19:04

Wasn't there a woman who posted quite a bit about her "hugely successful business" involving Elsa from Frozen

GreenThing · 17/02/2019 20:28

Oh Hank that stroller one was a classic.

Beauty in simplicity. Grin

pootleposeyperkin · 17/02/2019 20:32

The v rich young woman is Beanie I think ? Usually posting some nonsense about private jets and diamonds

Graphista · 17/02/2019 22:18

I'm relatively new but saw this one referenced a lot and I was lurking before I joined in properly, so this is the one I know.

Maui

"I remember niteandfog but I think she was hated rather than loved." I remember her too and agree bloody awful woman!

CatinMyLap · 17/02/2019 22:23
