I have learned that someone, somewhere is taking deep offence at all those innocent chatty comments most of us say. Every week on here there will be someone complaining how someone insulted them or upset them by saying something harmless and chatty.

OP posts:
Pinkiii · 16/02/2019 11:15

That everything can be fixed with a spa break Smile

heidivodca · 16/02/2019 13:07

That there are other ways of looking at issues!

Freezyderm is fab! Really grateful for that S&B recommendation- thank you 🙏

I have been very lucky and have a great life which I (hopefully) fully appreciate!

It isn’t just my DF who is irritated by David Attenborough (who knew!)

ilovesooty · 16/02/2019 13:13

A lot about additional needs. I'm really grateful to those who have made me more aware.

Decormad38 · 16/02/2019 13:16

That some people are lovely and kind and others a bit shitty and mean!

overtheirishsea · 16/02/2019 13:16

That I'm generally unreasonable..

Felicia4 · 16/02/2019 13:19

That there are some very angry people out there.
And that people don't understand the difference between opinions and facts.
And that there are equally some very lovely supportive people in this world.

YogaWannabe · 16/02/2019 13:19

That there are other gender critical people about. I don’t know a single one in real life.

That no is a complete sentence Wink

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 16/02/2019 13:20

That using a towel more than once makes you Stig Of The Dump but wearing a bra for weeks on end is fine.

And tumble drying a dirty bra for a few minutes 'freshens it up'.

DarAdal · 16/02/2019 13:35

A lot of people have anxiety.

JingsMahBucket · 16/02/2019 13:35

That some people have a really difficult time distinguishing between the words “bought” and “brought”.

Also that most of the English posters genuinely think that the UK is just England.

slipperywhensparticus · 16/02/2019 13:37

Pineapples grow in bushes

redexpat · 16/02/2019 13:38

A lot of people have piss poor comprehension skills.

How fabulously articulate some are.

The flaps at the end of the clingfilm box hold the roll in place.

The arrow points to the side of the car that has the petrol tank.

That not all disabilities are visible.

Echobelly · 16/02/2019 13:39

That there are some really shitty men out there. I mean I kind of knew that but luckily it hadn't really happened to anyone in my life.

ImAMouseduhhh · 16/02/2019 14:04

The first person to comment 'Did you cancel the cheque?' (on a thread with lots of likeminded individuals who keep posting the same advice) is a comedy genius.

resipsa · 16/02/2019 14:12

That the concept of undertaking an informed risk/benefit analysis then acting on the findings is unknown to many more people than I expected.

Sparklingbrook · 16/02/2019 14:12

There are people that exist who thought Penis Beaker was funny.

YeOldeTrout · 16/02/2019 14:19

A lot of people are very anxious (& vocal about it).

A lot of people are a lot more cautious (that me) about everything, and they believe that following rules is important to make sure the right thing gets done. They actually believe in the power of bureaucracy & paperwork to make the world a better place.

People believe that risk can be controlled or eliminated.

Many women measure their self-esteem by the size of their breasts.

Capacity for self-deception is huge.

That people don't listen (read)... and they project their issues onto other situations that are nothing like their issues (or at least, not proven to have anything in common).

That projection thing is huge, actually.

A lot of people don't understand that cats are territorial. Confused

Unhappy people are the loudest people.

How much British people like to moan, and like to celebrate group moaning.

(flipside): many people are amazingly creative & witty, much more than me. Many comprehend guts of situations much faster than I can.

Bananalanacake · 16/02/2019 14:20

Oooh, loads of stuff....
Sunlight bleaches out poo stains.
Don't ever Google dragonbutter.
Don't watch 'A Serbian Film'
The existence of Cocklodgers, grief thiefs, flying monkeys, narcs. Had no idea such awful people existed.

AlwaysSomethingThere · 16/02/2019 14:20

That most people on here seem to be absolutely fucking minted compared to me!

DramaAlpaca · 16/02/2019 14:22

Lots of new swear words.

UnfinishedUsernam · 16/02/2019 14:23

People who ask AIBU? don't actually think they are.

RedHatsDoNotSuitMe · 16/02/2019 14:28

That I'm invisible Grin

Lots of interesting stuff.

Lots of funny things.

That posters quite rarely take advice.

How funny a flounce can be.

That some people are ridiculously germ-phobic

That there are people on here with the most wicked sense of humour and most amazing writing style.
And some complete idiots!

Jinglejanglefish · 16/02/2019 14:28

How much housework and laundry people do, they’re either lying or they literally never sit down for a break.

A lot of benefits? UC and poverty, made me more of a socialist than I was already.

How humourless many are, so much so that you have to put ‘lightheated’ on any joke thread otherwise you’re ripped to shreds.

That men can do whatever they want and still be considered a ‘good dad’.

Jinglejanglefish · 16/02/2019 14:29
  • a lot about benefits and UC, not sure what happened there
notacooldad · 16/02/2019 14:29

A lot of people have anxiety.
and they only disclose it once there is a unanimous consensus that they are being unreasonable over something!
I agree with OP about people getting offended by every day chit chat conversations!
