What have you learned from MN?

I have learned that someone, somewhere is taking deep offence at all those innocent chatty comments most of us say. Every week on here there will be someone complaining how someone insulted them or upset them by saying something harmless and chatty.

OP posts:

That you can actually make money from surveys

UnfinishedUsernam · 16/02/2019 14:34

Red hat is invisible whereas I am the dastardly killer of threads.

Willyoubuymeahouseofgold · 16/02/2019 14:38

That there is an excuse for EVERYTHING! No matter how damning the scenario, someone will jump in quickly with extenuating circumstances.....
I have learned I am rather
more judgemental .😂
I have also learned how little people expect of their friends and family... no birthday gifts , no Mothers Day... Days Out organised that blatantly hurt people .. Fuck that shit!
I have learned I am therefore too grabby with an inappropriate expectation of loyalty and care and consideration from friends and family Grin

tilder · 16/02/2019 14:44

That some topics never go well.

Toilet brushes
Towel changing
Sahp/wohp
Private/state

tilder · 16/02/2019 14:44

Oh, but vaccination threads are now more sane than they used to be.

RedHatsDoNotSuitMe · 16/02/2019 14:44

You and I should join forces and become unlikely superheroes, UnfinishedUsernam (what a GREAT name!!!!)

Sparklingbrook · 16/02/2019 14:47

tilder the absolute fury on bathroom bin threads and whether you allow shoes in the house is also hilarious.

Plus the obession and time spent monitoring where people park in a supermarket car park is worrying. Grin

TwitterQueen1 · 16/02/2019 14:48

The flaps at the end of the clingfilm box hold the roll in place What? Really? Seriously? I didn't know that! I need to go and look at my box.

That there is a deeply nasty, vicious, hive mind amongst some MNers
That some people are incredibly kind and supportive
That lots of people can't or won't appreciate that other people's perspective on things is often just as valid as their own.

UnfinishedUsernam · 16/02/2019 15:14

Red hat I bet you look great in a red superhero outfit. I'm too fat for spandex and/or lycra.

I've just learned on Mumsnet that Cliff Richard has a range of perfumes.

IJustLostTheGame · 16/02/2019 15:18

Spa breaks are the answer for everything
Well paid part time jobs that fit in with school terms are abundant. And if they aren't just get a nanny.
Any misbehaving child must have SN

Justanotheruser01 · 16/02/2019 15:24

That under no circumstances do you do anything for your husband you will be a 1950s pinny wearing housewife if you do.

notacooldad · 16/02/2019 15:27

Spa breaks are the answer for everything
Tbf this solution to problems doesn't seem to come up as often as it used to.

tilder · 16/02/2019 15:38

Sparklingbrook ive not come across a bathroom bin thread yet. Will look out for oneGrin

I have been known to post on a dog poo thread. The utter irrational mouth frothing that goes on is incredible and I just can't help myselfBlush

MightyAtlantic · 16/02/2019 15:42

That baby vests can be pulled down over the body to take them off as well as up over the head.

Sparklingbrook · 16/02/2019 15:45

OMG tilder you have missed some treats. People offended that a visitor might put something in their bathroom bin. Shock

Oh and people who don't have one because they have nothing to put in it and sod the visitors.

SummerHouse · 16/02/2019 15:46

Some view leggings as an undergarment...

AmIthatbloodycold · 16/02/2019 15:58

That proper adults use words like "yum" "mean" and "horrid"

That some posters mistake mumsnet for their own little group chat

And that many, many posters are genuinely very funny

NotMyUsualTopBilling · 16/02/2019 16:00

I saw a cracker of a spa break recommendation last week.

Pregnant woman living in a tiny shoe box with her lazy partner and toddler up to their eye balls in debt living hand to mouth. - "Leave him to deal with the toddler for the weekend preferably book a pamper break for yourself" 🤔😂

tilder · 16/02/2019 16:09

I might have to advance search one Sparklingbrook

Would also add that time spent reading MN classics is rarely time wasted.

Boyskeepswinging · 16/02/2019 16:09

I learnt from MN that I did not need to pander to my deeply unpleasant MIL purely because she is DH's mother. I have now very little contact with her and it's bliss.

notacooldad · 16/02/2019 16:11

I saw a cracker of a spa break recommendation last week
Oh I missed that one! I hoped that shitty piece f advice had died a death.
Nothing wrong with a soap day, indeed I enjoy going with Dp followed by afternoon tea but a pamper session is not a remedy for a crap relationship situation!

CurcubitaPepo · 16/02/2019 16:27

That a lot of people have social anxiety (as do I, but I’m getting better).

I lot of people are living with complete arse holes.

That it’s ok to not be ok.

And that is all!

notacooldad · 16/02/2019 16:32

Blimey! My typos are appalling!!!
I really should wear my glasses!

Parsley65 · 16/02/2019 17:41

To be very grateful for the little corner of the world that is my life.
That there are a lot of people on here with unimaginably difficult lives.
That there many very good people out there trying to help others.

BlahXXBlah · 16/02/2019 17:46
