What weird thing do you get complimented on?

Not a stealth brag. I have had numerous people say how wonderful my pushchair looks, "ooh! I've never seen one like that before, they weren't like that in my day" kind of thing (so mainly people that haven't recently had kids, and also by a pregnant lady). Thing is, what they are amazed at is a bog standard infant carrier car seat on a very basic metal pushchair frame!

I did have a nice carrycot (tweedy type) on it once that a very hipster bloke complimented me on as a 'mix of vintage and modern'. But it's always the car seat. I don't get it.

Anyone else get anything like this?

Last night I went out with work colleagues and my line manager told me that I looked great in what I was wearing and I should wear it to work.

Only, I already do (wear it to work), at least once a week. She and I share an office and have done for over 3 years. I completely didn't know what to say to her.

My ham sandwiches Grin

My handwriting- surprisingly often!

I don’t know why because if I rush it’s sometimes barely legible, but it does all slope in the same direction which gives it an appearance of neatness I supppose.

My cups of tea 😬

My cheese sandwiches (the only ones fussy kids will eat)
My nan once said 'Juni always looks so clean' which I'm still not sure how to take.

I always get complimented on my perfume, which I get embarrassed about when I'm wearing Chanel (it was a gift and I'd never spend that sort of money on perfume) but I love it when it's an 8 quid bottle of Blush by New Look Grin Oh and also the aldi Jo Ma-phoney Lime, Basil and Mandarin.

When people come to my house they compliment my living room, which looks dead stylish but more or less everything is from Aldi or Home Bargains Blush

ScrumptiousBears · 10/02/2019 23:28

My child's hair mostly. People stop me in the street/shop/restaurant to comment. It's rather random.

QuimReaper · 10/02/2019 23:39

I want to know the secret to these amazing sandwiches!

My friend of 17 years recently came out with "I've ALWAYS been envious of your nail beds" ConfusedGrin

What my children look like,my Mum and Dad and Aunties and Uncles used to say that we always looked like we'd just stepped of a catwalk and I get complete strangers stop me to tell me how beautiful they think my DC are,I tend to agree with them on that one.

They are all very tall, slim(the girls, the boys are well built)and they all have olive skin and big almond shaped eyes.

RamblinRosie · 10/02/2019 23:48

My ankles.

PlasticPatty · 10/02/2019 23:57

My mother (now late) once said 'You don't bother worrying about things you can't change'.

Ahardmanisgoodtofind · 11/02/2019 00:02

Dd's hair, I've never been anywhere with her where someone hasn't commented on her hair.
My teeth, which is really weird because they're just teeth, not whitened not white at all or anything special.

Xmasbaby11 · 11/02/2019 00:03

Dd's striking blonde ringlets. Strangers comment on her hair a lot. Neither me nor dh has curls so she does stand out. I laugh inwardly as it's a total pain to look after, but it is pretty.

Walnutwhipster · 11/02/2019 00:29

How good looking my children are. I'm a three/four on a good day but have managed to give birth to three stunning offspring. One is adult now and has an incredibly beautiful girlfriend. I don't wear makeup and although I'm very petite, I'm not girlie at all nor have I ever been interested in people's looks. I get uncomfortable when I'm out with my adult DS and women and girls stare and do double takes. Some comments over the years have been hurtful but even subtle comments are obvious when said often enough. Everywhere we go the comments are always on their looks, never intelligence or personality.

nancy75 · 11/02/2019 00:39

My massive curly hair, apparently it’s amazing Hmm I hate it & think I look like I’ve got a giant birds nest on my head most of the time

CharDeeMacDennis · 11/02/2019 00:57

My neck, "elegant", apparently

wotsittoyou · 11/02/2019 01:59

The behaviour of my children. They're home-ed and 66% autistic. People seem regularly surprised that they're not savages.

OrigamiZoo · 11/02/2019 02:03

My eyes, which can be Bette Davis/Emma Stone or a Goldfish, depending.

Freyanna · 11/02/2019 02:07

The way I walk!

I have one leg slightly shorter than the other which gives me a distinct walk.

Fusioluxe · 11/02/2019 02:08

My DC’s intelligence. Just everyday things that they say but are apparently genius lol!

CaptainWales · 11/02/2019 02:17

My confidence.

I don't actually have much confidence I just force myself, it's actually courage.

WarpedGalaxy · 11/02/2019 02:23

Young checkout girl at the supermarket today complimented me on my cardigan, said it was really cute! Very gratifying considering I’m 55 and it’s one I’ve had years and rarely wear since my husband said it looks like the pelts from a bunch of murdered and skinned teddy bears went into making it. Yeah like he knows anything about fashion, asshole.

I told him when I got home and he said the girl was obviously fucking with me. She wasn’t though, my superpower is being able to spot teen sarcasm waves from fucking space. It’s now my new favorite cardigan and I shall wear it until it falls apart.

Oh and our janitor at work always compliments me on my perfume, she says she always knows when I’ve arrived because the office immediately smells lovely.

MrsCatE · 11/02/2019 02:31

The shape of my head. Random very posh lady in upmarket wine bar said how she liked that my haircut emphasised the lovely shape of my head. I should have bought a drink and become BFFs instead of stammering thanks very much.

FenellaMaxwell · 11/02/2019 02:34

DS’s hair here too. It’s a riot of red gold curls and it’s quite striking. Although he has the same hair as me, and I’m always being told his is lovely whilst growing up I was always told mine made me look unkempt Hmm

I did once have a couple pay for our lunch in a pizza place because they said the way I spoke to DS was “charming and endearing”. He was about one at the time. I think I was talking to him about pizza and the fact we were off to get his hair cut - nothing special at all - but it was a very sweet thing to compliment, and I was very touched!
