What weird thing do you get complimented on?

Not a stealth brag. I have had numerous people say how wonderful my pushchair looks, "ooh! I've never seen one like that before, they weren't like that in my day" kind of thing (so mainly people that haven't recently had kids, and also by a pregnant lady). Thing is, what they are amazed at is a bog standard infant carrier car seat on a very basic metal pushchair frame!

I did have a nice carrycot (tweedy type) on it once that a very hipster bloke complimented me on as a 'mix of vintage and modern'. But it's always the car seat. I don't get it.

Anyone else get anything like this?

My hand writing apparently I have perfect teacher writing which is funny as I’ve just retrained as a teacher.

At uni I was always the scribe as I have the best writing.

I regularly get told by people how they admire how laid back I am. In truth I don’t think I am laid back at all. Constantly stressing and procrastinating about one thing or another but it’s obviously all in my head as I seem to give off that vibe.

People always admire my handwriting and how I gift wrap presents, I think I'm just very neat handed. Apparently, I also have very elegant shoulders and clavicle.

My ability to quickly google anything. I know. Not exactly a superpower. But I've got this weird reputation as a X-Files style Lone Gunman.

Apparently DM was complimented by the midwives on her copious breastmilk supply while in hospital after having me. The phrase, "We've got a real Jersey Milker here, girls!" was bellowed out.

She takes great pride in this and re-tells the story as often as possible while everyone else in the room cringes slightly.

I was once complimented on my blood pressure. Apparently I have an 'athlete's pulse' which is handy and the only athletic thing about me.

TokyoSushi · 11/02/2019 17:50

I have a favourable cervix and excellent nail beds - lucky me! Grin

Potplant · 11/02/2019 17:53

How nicely my hair blow dries, only by hairdressers though. When I do it myself, it looks like I've just got out of bed, and not in a sexy ruffled way.

I've been told I'm really laid back. I'm not.

My... Just being me, oddly enough, and in 3rd person.

I've this one more senior man at work who just loves to do this thing where he talks about me to others in a very complementary fashion but within earshot of me. I always feel very awkward about it, especially since a) his choice of words is always pretty over the top and b) he's never said "you're an absolute rockstar/bombshell/[similar term]" to my face, but he keeps on saying it to others while making damn sure I hear it. I'm no shrinking violet at all but the way he goes about it makes me flush tomato red and panic about how I'm going to have to live up to the expectations he just set for me all at the same time.

Lovely colleague in all other situations, mind.

A friend once told me that I had a comfy shoulder to lean her head on 'like a sofa'. We were in college then and it still makes me laugh many years later

Angeladelight · 11/02/2019 18:42

My teeth. Every guy I’ve dated has always said it’s one of their favourite of my physical features and I get compliments off of friends and family often enough for me to notice. I had braces growing up but my teeth so they’re reasonably straight but they aren’t particularly white or anything Confused

vintanner · 12/02/2019 17:02

On being to 'nice' !!!!!

spinabifidamom · 12/02/2019 17:08

I’ve gotten comments about DS before. One day several months ago when DS was six months old I took him to a local park.
I heard a lot of remarks and comments that day. People complimented me on him but little did they know the full story. I’ve also had my share of unwanted compliments at restaurants etc. I just smile in response.
People love to make unhelpful comments and suggestions when they find out.

katseyes7 · 12/02/2019 17:09

How calm l am. l don't always feel it, but l've had a lot of people say that l'm very chilled out, and they feel calm when they're with me.

mrsdolittle · 12/02/2019 17:16

When DD was new born the midwife told me I had perfect nipples for breast feeding. So proud!

Racecardriver · 12/02/2019 17:19

Pale skin Hmm
Not even that pale for the record. Just surrounded by weirdos apparently.

kaytee87 · 12/02/2019 17:22

My eyes by both sexes and my eyebrows by women.

MiaowMix · 12/02/2019 17:23

My voice (speaking NOT singing). Practically every day. I'm seriously trying to monetise it.
My name. My daughter's name. And my husband's name. We give good name!

MakeItAmazing · 12/02/2019 17:24

I had chatted to the till worked in Marks and Spencer's and when I walked away I heard her say to the lady next to her that I had a lovely voice and she'd enjoyed talking to me.

thatsmyspace · 12/02/2019 17:30

My figure. Most people are shocked when they find out I've got 5 children. Tbh I preferred my figure after my 3rd, it's changed a lot since the other 2 dc came along 😩

Tara336 · 12/02/2019 17:49

I’ve had compliments on the shape of my nails and nail beds, I’m a bit confused by this as to me they look no different to anybody else’s

Ezzie29 · 12/02/2019 17:57

I know someone has pointed out that being told you have nice teeth isn’t necessarily weird, but it can be, depending on the teeth! I’ve been complimented a few times on my “lovely white teeth” and I find it bizarre, my teeth are gappy and wonky and definitely not white, I have to be really careful when choosing a lipstick shade as a lot make my teeth look really yellow. But I get the white teeth thing a lot, so I do think it still counts as being weird.

fartfacemcfartfaceface · 12/02/2019 18:05

Yes people like my pushchair too it's cosatto giggle in pixellate and is bright colours. Everything else about my physical appearance is entirely plain and the push chair is literally the only thing I get complimented on Grin

@walnutwhisper

That behaviour from your DH doesn’t sound appropriate at all. In fact it sounds pretty abusive....
