What do you remember watching on a Sunday as a kid?

Daughter and I have had our bath and I just had a flash of memory back to the days of watching Bullseye, songs of praise and Howard's way on a Sunday nights.

I even went on YouTube to put a bit of Bully on.. what is it with 6yr olds that don't appreciate old TV?

Antiques Roadshow
All Creatures Great and Small
The worst...Last of the Summer Wine.
Open All Hours.

These programmes are the worst. I hate them.
I did enjoy The Two Ronnies. I remember laughing so much at the phantom raspberry blower of old London Town.

Laredo, Rawhide, Bonanza, Black & White Minstrel Show, Sunday Night at the London Palladium

MissMarplesKnitting · 03/02/2019 18:08

Smokey and the Bandit in the afternoon
Antiques roadshow
Bullseys
'Allo 'allo

Most of the above. And Weekend World, University Challenge and Tales of the Unexpected. Yes, my dad monopolised the TV, but we were allowed to watch Worzel Gummage.

ChristmasSnow · 03/02/2019 18:16

Im sure birds of a feather and one foot in the grave was on, on a Sunday

HoobleDooble · 03/02/2019 18:16

Sunday morning was Thunderbirds as a kid and The Walton's/Lost in Space as a hungover teenager.

Sunday evenings = Songs Of Praise, Highway (with Harry Secombe), That's Life (talking dogs and rude vegetables), Last of the Summer Wine (how many times can you laugh at old men going down a hill in a bathtub?). The theme tune to Open All Hours still gives me the back to school gloomy feeling.

When I was very small Sunday night would mean bath night, clean pyjamas and back downstairs to watch The Muppet Show with my cuddly Kermit.

I forgot to mention Police 5 and Catchphrase!

Mari50 · 03/02/2019 18:18

CaurnieBred I thought Tenko was on on a Thursday night. But then that clashes with the tomorrows world, top of the pops- unless it was on at 9pm.
Dallas on a Wednesday (wasn’t allowed to watch this), mash and Paul Hogan on a Friday.

Dandelio · 03/02/2019 18:19

The Waltons, That's Life

IndigoSpritz · 03/02/2019 18:19

Black Beauty, The Phoenix and The Carpet, Stars On Sunday, Howard Sway, Shoestring, Campion, House Of Cards (original UK series) and Ski Sunday. The latter isn't nearly as good as when David Vine was the presenter. Too much yakking, far too much snowboarding and never any ski jumping.

KeptTheBeachesShipwreckFree · 03/02/2019 18:19

Bullseye, Songs of Praise and Antiques Roadshow at my nan's and then, if we were allowed, Last of the Summer Wine at home.

Was catchphrase on a Sunday? That feels like it was a Saturday early evening thing between Blind Date, Baywatch and Gladiators.

I remember the usual songs of praise and antiques roadshow. Heartbeat and when I was a teenager it was Ballykissangel and Where the heart is. I loved Ballykissangel and still have the book about the show.

twinnywinny14 · 03/02/2019 18:22

Was the wonder years on a Sunday?

FrenchyQ · 03/02/2019 18:23

Gummybears on a Sunday morning
Reruns of lost in space or land of the giants on channel 4 at lunch time
Mum always watched Bullseye at teatime and heartbeat

FrenchyQ · 03/02/2019 18:23

twinnywinny14 yes it was, think about 6pm on Channel 4

zen1 · 03/02/2019 18:24

WeeTinkerMonkey Yes, it used to be on at 7.15 after Highway. It may have moved to a Saturday later on though (I know it ran for quite some time!).

concretesieve · 03/02/2019 18:25

Lots of these. And yes - University Challenge. I was surprised it hadn't been mentioned early on in the thread, but see from wiki that days and times varied a lot between ITV regions - who knew? Smile

Yogagirl123 · 03/02/2019 18:26

Open all hours
Bullseye
That’s life

iloveredwine · 03/02/2019 18:27

yearinyearout · 03/02/2019 18:27

The adventures of Black beauty. Always visited grandparents on sundays and watched it there after eating cake all afternoon. Happy days.

I know it ran for a long while, bit it was rubbish after Roy Walker, he was Catchphrase, no one else could say,
"Say what you see" like him.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

goose1964 · 03/02/2019 18:28

The clothes show, someone mentioned House of Eliott earlier but I'm sure that was on Saturday. Last of the summer wine
