And why

I would want Jacob Rees Mog , best person at the moment imo

I'd say Kier Starmer, it's a good leadery name. My boyfriend has hopes pinned to Corbyn. As a left field suggestion I'd suggest Patrick Stewart, Picard will guide the way "make it so"

Mumek · 26/01/2019 00:18

Caroline Lucas....by miles

Amber Rudd is the only Conservative I rate

boatyardblues · 26/01/2019 00:18

Keir Starmer or Caroline Lucas. Def not Yvette Cooper. Where has she been during last 2 years where we've had a disgracefully weak opposition? I reckon she's completely (and disappointingly) self-interested.

Take the time to find out a bit more about Yvette. She is one a small number of MPs leading the charge on modelling the disproportionate impact of austerity cuts on women and has been holding the government’s feet to the fire on this. She’s done more about it than her colleagues on the Labour front bench. I think she’d do a much better job than Corbyn and his acolytes.

CormoranStrike · 26/01/2019 00:38

Keir Starmer is a good shout actually.

pascalstriangle · 26/01/2019 00:40

Zac Goldsmith for me. I would rather like seeing more of him and he is such a lovely bloke despite his aristocratic background.

Scandaloso · 26/01/2019 00:47

After his shameful mayoral bid Goldsmith should keep a low profile until the end of time.

notangelinajolie · 26/01/2019 00:55

Jacob Rees Mogg
Boris Johnson
David Davies
Dominic Raab

There are a lot of people who don't understand how it works. If Mrs May resigns a Labour MP cannot be PM. You'd need a GE for that. Why are people saying Labour MP's? The Conservatives would elect a Conservative PM.

Urwotu8t · 26/01/2019 01:12

Doesn't David Lammy want to bring back smacking children, thus evoking a ltb from most of mums net?

Choccywoccyhooha · 26/01/2019 01:13

Michael Rose

If it has to be a politician then Yvette Cooper.
If it has to be a Tory then Ken Clarke.

mantlepiece · 26/01/2019 01:13

Corbyn for me. Really like his ideas and I think he genuinely cares.

Don’t like Yvette, if I had to choose another I would say Starmer.

Stripyhoglets1 · 26/01/2019 01:33

Yvette Cooper. Shamelessly pushed back onto back benches by Corbyn and his bunch.
I know we'd need an election yo have a Labour pm. I'm not daft but the question was who would you like to see as PM. So that's who.
If it had to be a Tory - Ken Clark.

ilovesooty · 26/01/2019 01:42

I'm sure everyone posting on this thread knows exactly how it works

hellsbells99 · 26/01/2019 01:52

Not JRM, Gove or Corbyn
I don’t really know who would be good and suitable

FriedaTheBreeder · 26/01/2019 02:00

Given it has to be a Tory as they won the last election I will go with Sarah Wollaston. She is the only Tory with any integrity that I can see at the moment.

If it was a Lab government I would go with Yvette Cooper. I like Hillary Benn too.

HelenaDove · 26/01/2019 02:03

Larry The Downing Street cat.

theduchessstill · 26/01/2019 07:31

I really want the person who said Chuka is as bad as jrm to come back and say why- I'm intrigued.

If we were not limited to the current Westminster lot I would definitely have Tony Blair. None of this shit would have happened with him in charge.

boatyardblues · 26/01/2019 07:34

I ungerstand that Yvette is seen as “too Blairite” to ever be acceptable to her party, which is a shame as she seems to be popular with the wider electorate and a highly capable politician. Labour need to decide whether they actually want to be in government so they can change things or whether they want to continue pissing about and playing politics at the margins. And I say this as a former Labour voter.

crikeycrumbsblimey · 26/01/2019 07:41

Also Jo Johnson is a good shout - firstly can you imagine how pissed the big brother would be....

Also after the brexit vote he contacted all universities to ask them to inform them of funding research and recruitment of researchers. Firstly showed he understood how uni worked (Lammy has never managed it) but also was listening about the impact.
But mainly cos it would really annoy B!

RoseAndRose · 26/01/2019 07:46

I wouid go for William Hague.

I think his experience is preferable to someone who has never held one of the great offices.

eurochick · 26/01/2019 07:47

Dominic Grieve is acquitting himself pretty well at the moment. He's not charismatic but could be the safe pair of hands we need to steady the ship. If there were a general election and it went Labour's way, I think Kier Starmer is probably the best candidate.

EdtheBear · 26/01/2019 07:48

Yoda, Gandalf or Dumbledore. 3 wise old heads. Grin

Seriously John Smith or Mo Molam and we wouldn't be in this mess.

Ruth Davidson is the best of the current bunch but just had baby.

The question is who the heck actually wants the job? I'm convinced that is the reason Teresa May survived the vote of No Confidence a few weeks ago.

artisanscotcheggs · 26/01/2019 07:55

Oh do fuck off.

TheTeaFairy · 26/01/2019 08:55

Burpsandfustles · 26/01/2019 09:30

The duchess if you do some reading... You will see that actually Tony Blair it's the biggest reason probably that we are here!

SinceYouAskMe · 26/01/2019 09:37

Of the existing cabinet Rudd and Grieve appear at least to be grownups. Wollaston seems likeable and trustworthy but hugely unqualified for this specific task.
