Most random find in a new house?

ContraryToPopularBelief · 17/01/2019 22:37

So we picked up our keys for our new house today. The sellers have been so nice. The house is super clean and they've left thoughtful things like a hedge clipper and lawnmower. All good.

However... on the back of one of the bedroom doors there is a sheep's skull!!!! 😱

Utterly random! So what's the most random thing your found when you moved in to a new house?

When we bought our current house, we got left an astounding amount of filth, degree certificates, 1980's topless calendars, and shite (not actual shite, but general rubbish). Oh, and a continual string of mail which is still arriving years later 😬

motortroll · 19/01/2019 15:06

1970s Paddington bear teddy on the lift. I sold him on eBay for £25.

motortroll · 19/01/2019 15:06

In the loft!

steppemum · 19/01/2019 15:09

motortroll ha ha, I had visions of Paddington riding up and down by himself when the house was empty.....

Schmoobarb · 19/01/2019 15:11

I could have done without the skidmarked toilet and bath puff filed with pubes at the side of the bath.

They were also extremely tardy at fucking off out of the house when they had the money. Eventually I just told the estate agent I was going to the house and would just take the keys off them there. They still had the whole kitchen to pack and they had the cheek to ask us if we wanted to buy their table and chairs! I told them they had to get out and the stuff stayed on the lawn till they moved it later on. They then had the cheek to come back and ask for the cutlery insert out of the kitchen drawer. It was a no ;)

A great big kiln. We moved in August and it was in the outhouse, wired up to the mains with a wheel and clay inside. I cannot shift it, it's heavier than the moon.

Also, a GoPro and set of weights....and a baby scan photo.

Weirdarse people.

CoraCoo · 19/01/2019 17:28

3 mobility scooters in the shed. We sold them and they paid for our new windows!

why12345 · 19/01/2019 17:38

A blow up sex doll 😂😂😂

PurbeckCally · 19/01/2019 17:38

A sex toy, hidden at the back of the airing cupboard . ………...

trudytapas · 19/01/2019 17:39

A very old breast pump, children's swimming costume and a pair of swords under the stairs Hmm

Handmethegin · 19/01/2019 17:40

A hideout under the eaves, complete with rope system on the back of the door to stop it being opened from the house side, a duvet and about a dozen large pop bottles full of urine.

Later on when we moved a black bin outside that had soil and grass growing out the top of it, we emptied it as it was too heavy to move and under the soil found lots of dirty bloodstained clothes.

Totally. Weird.

We found some fantastic/super ugly 1960s wallpaper samples in the loft. We’re at least the 4th family to live here since the 60s so I’m guessing nobody could bear to throw them out, social history and all that. We put them back in the loft for someone else to discover in future.

Tomboytown · 19/01/2019 18:02

Bottle of lube in the bedroom cupboard

waterhorse123 · 19/01/2019 18:02

Two of my friends' stories.
Friend One :- bought a house to renovate in France from a couple of old people going into a home. Found two dogs tied up inside it. Took the dogs home. The old female had cancer and lived not too long but had a good home, the male one day in the garden just went for my friend and hospitalised her she was so badly bitten out of the blue. The gendarmes wouldn't put the dog down or take it away and her partner had to shoot it before she came home from hospital. Horrible.
Friend Two :- found what she thought was a rather odd blue handbag in a cupboard but later found out was her own husband's masonic apron. She showed it to me before she found out what it was and it did indeed look like a handbag. Makes the Masonic rituals sound a bit camp.

ellesworth · 19/01/2019 18:04

DH found a strimmer put in our (unlocked because there's bugger all to steal in it) shed. Brand new in the box. Not ours because obviously we would have remembered buying one. No address on it so not delivered to the wrong place. Neighbour doesn't have a shed. Had a feeling it may have been nicked and stashed but no one ever came back for it.

Notquiteagandt · 19/01/2019 18:05

A friend found the most heart breaking thing in her loft. A pram, carseat, full nursery furniture set and boxes and boxes of brand new baby clothes with the labels on. Literally a fully kitted out nursery still in the boxes 😢 she said took her a while to clear it so she totally understand why previous owner left it.

opinionminion · 19/01/2019 18:05

Loads of used (ear wax )cotton wool buds shoved between the toilet cistern and the wall Hmm

Murinae · 19/01/2019 18:08

We found this when we took off the tiles in the kitchen. Also we have a shed full of rubbish including mole traps, roof tiles and old windows as well as about 10 large chimney pots

Two things, one was a gold crown off a huge back tooth, I knelt on it while I was ripping up the dreadful swirly and obviously not hoovered bedroom carpet, the second was a typed out prayer to protect the house against storms and hurricanes I bet they wish they had taken it with them because it was the year of the big storm!

flingingmelon · 19/01/2019 18:23

Holes in the garden, where the vendor had taken some plants and shrubs with her.

Too much hassle to sue, I hope they all died 🤬

NettleTea · 19/01/2019 18:36

bags and bags of marijuana.
That was a good day

motortroll · 19/01/2019 18:38

I'd love a kiln and wheel!

I'm moving to a new build so I'm hoping I won't get loads of rubbish!

nyu82 · 19/01/2019 18:46

Kurri Kurri
How lovely your sister sounds...hope the dog is still with her and giving her lots of love....

nyu82 · 19/01/2019 18:59

The vendors of our first house had taken all the light fittings but left their cat...we drove to their new house , just a mile away and gave them back their pet and told them that as they had broken the terms of the sale we would be pulling out..this was on the moving day, they went white , cursed ,then rushed back to fix everything back in...they were horrors...we found out they had put a big sheet of plastic under the leaky roof when we had a waterfall a few months later.

Tlypotterton · 19/01/2019 19:03

Hubby was a manager in a bar with a managers flat upstairs,we didn't take the managers flat as we had a house in the suburbs and didn't want to downsize to a flat nor live in the city centre.

The previous tenant of the flat had left behind furniture-2 beds complete with bedding ,a sofa, some free standing units, mirrors along with odd shoes,a punchbag and a pile of porn magazines under one of the beds.

The place was also completely filthy and rundown with half of the floor missing from the what was supposed to be the second floor of the flat.
