Most random find in a new house?

So we picked up our keys for our new house today. The sellers have been so nice. The house is super clean and they've left thoughtful things like a hedge clipper and lawnmower. All good.

However... on the back of one of the bedroom doors there is a sheep's skull!!!! 😱

Utterly random! So what's the most random thing your found when you moved in to a new house?

6 pairs of men's shorts on a high shelf in the wardrobe. I guess that guy lost his whole summer wardrobe.

LemonGirl · 18/01/2019 08:52

This house loads of crappy bits. Broken coat hangers and hairy lipsticks in the bottom of the built I wardrobes, a nice coating of fake tan around 2 of be bedroom door frames, a diet plan and weight loss chart/meal planner inside a wardrobe door - only completed for the first 3 days, dirty cup spoon and bowl in the dishwasher, dog toys everywhere, dog food (wet meat type) scattered in random places all over the house including upstairs bedrooms and bathroom, myd splatter up all the white walls in pretty much every room, congealed rice mixed with leaking cartons of Ribena in the kitchen cupboard and very general high level of filth.

In our old/previous house we found half a Christmas tree in the attic snd a small bundle of love letters that were complete filth! One line from those letters that has stayed with me is " every time i look at you I almost cum in my pants"!!

Our house was immaculate when we moved in, clean, empty, with flowers left on the breakfast bar along with a binder full of useful information and even a list of the neighbours’ names and children.

And then one solitary pair of boxers in the airing cupboard!

Ifangyow · 18/01/2019 08:56

A whole human skeleton hanging by a hook in top of its head in the cellar.
A whole engine for a corsa, also in the cellar.
A random kitchen drawer in the loft.
A load of 70s porn mags under the bedroom walk in cupboard carpet. I swear you could have modelled topiary on some of those ladies bushes. 😂

This was all in 1 house, so I imagine the owner was interested in biology with a hobby of tinkering with cars.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 18/01/2019 09:28

Behind the drawers in a bedside cabinet, I found a book about serial killers with a screwfix catalogue.
They must have been looking for a good deal on cable ties and plastic sheetingGrin

Used cotton ear buds in every room, in drawers, on top of cupboards, on windowsills. Even under carpets when we've redecorated. Dirty sods.

A cousin of mine moved into a house which had a wholesale amount of fisherman’s raincoats and chains in the basement Confused

A friends uni house had a WW2 grenade in it and had to get the police out to dispose of it

Previous owners were a traveling family (settled down), but it was why we were able to buy the house cheap in a desirable area.
They did 'booby trap' the house when we moved it.
They had removed the fuses, taken all the bulbs.
Left dead dogs in the garden (they had loads, but couldn't take those).
Kept coming back to demand stuff from the shed.
We stopped letting them in after a week.
They pinched the clothes line.
Still turned up for mail (they were traveling again, so no forwarding address).
Had mail for over 8 years, but it was all final demands, bailifs ect.
Whilst we were at work, our NDN said that the man would sit outside our house in his van for hours Shock.
But the whole street were glad that we had taken on the house as they were a family from hell and had burgled most of the houses on the estate.
We've been here 19 years now and managed to make the house beautiful.
Now we keep finding horse bones in the garden...

Dummies
Dummies
And more dummies

On top of kitchen units
Behind plumbing
Behind the bath panel
On windowsills....

We had a loft full of stuff in a very unloved house we moved into. Mostly rubbish but one suitcase was filled with letters. Engagement cards. Wedding cards and photos. We spoke to the neighbours who had been there years and managed to track down the couple involved. They had been in the forces, had moved a lot and didn't know where they had lost this case. They came round to pick it up and were so happy to get them back. Bought me flowers and wine.

A snail in the dishwasher.

wannabebetter · 18/01/2019 11:33

An old air raid shelter hidden in the overgrown garden! When we ventured inside there were steps going underground and down there we found an old birdcage and a gas mask!

SparklingSaskia · 18/01/2019 11:46

VHS tapes hidden in the chimney. We didn’t have a player, so binned them. A pick axe in the cellar and a plush toy (rabbit) under the floorboards to round that up.

weegiemum · 18/01/2019 11:53

A 6' long sword on a top shelf in the garage!

We'd been here 6 years and were clearing out the garage to turn it into a kitchen/diner. Found it on the top shelf of the garage wall, in perfect nick. We have no follow on address for the previous people so it's currently sitting in the shed!

Tonightstheteriyakichicken · 18/01/2019 11:59

A massive metal beer barrel (empty) buried in the back garden. Dad had fun digging that up. Grin

x2boys · 18/01/2019 11:59

Coat hooks everywhere which have actually been quite useful really

fuckwitseverywhere · 18/01/2019 12:08

First house, loft full of crap that I ended up having to empty when I sold it.

This house, broken drawer full of tea towels and some frilly knickers behind a radiator
Also a disgusting oven that had to be immediately replaced!

SheeshazAZ09 · 18/01/2019 12:16

Revolting old stained and stinky duvets and bedding in cupboards. Along with yellow sticky residue all over the walls from past owners' chainsmoking habit. We employed some chaps to sugar soap all the surfaces and chuck all their nasty stuff in the skip, and the house scrubbed up lovely ( :

Racecardriver · 18/01/2019 12:16

A Halloween themed plastic table clothing, tiny wine rack (four bottles worth), and hundreds of tins of paint.

MrsJayy · 18/01/2019 12:19

Debt letters behind the hotwater tank just beside the copy of 50shades and a bottle of massage oilBlush

pallisers · 18/01/2019 12:21

The mast of a boat in the basement.

Thecomfortador · 18/01/2019 12:28

A heroin spoon on the roof of the utility room. Overlooked by our bedroom. Not sure if it was thrown out the bedroom window or thrown up from the garden. Or whether they had actually sat on the sloping roof to shoot up?

Gemgems1518 · 18/01/2019 12:42

Nothing really shock worthy but they left behind all their pots and pans/baking trays that where caked in grease and old food. Left them in the equally disgusting oven. DH cleaned it 5 times and nothing budged so we ended up calling an oven cleaning company who preformed a miracle on it and DH threw the kitchenware out.

We also discovered they'd left the outside general waste bin full to the brim and it wasn't due for collection for another two weeks, we moved in the day after it should have been collected. Neither of us wanted to touch other people's waste so ended up doing 3/4 tip runs with out own rubbish until it was emptied. Nice way to start living in a new home with rubbish bags all around the kitchen!

reallyanotherone · 18/01/2019 15:38

I walked into my new house to find it completely untouched. Sofas, beds, sheets, dining room table, wardrobes, the lot. Garden tools still laid out for cutting and pruning.

Rang the estate agent I’d just been to pick the keys up from, they rang the sellers who said they had been too upset to come and clear the house (it was their mum’s which they were selling as she’d died)

Fortunately as it was my first house and i was a post grad student i had not a stick of furniture, all i had was my case of clothes, a portable tv and a car load of odds and ends.

Most of it was nice enough and decent quality (m&s etc) so i quite happily lived with it for several years until i graduated and could afford to buy my own. Saved me from a life of sleeping/earing on the floor!

Tara336 · 18/01/2019 15:49

Crutchless knickers in the airin* cupboard and fag butts tucked in a recess behind the bathroom sick, oh and a cat (they moved and left her behind! We found a bed lined with newspaper in a lean too shed)
