Who would you vote for in a General Election?

If there was a GE tomorrow, which political party would you vote for?

Personally I would vote Labour as I want to see an end to austerity, more money invested in public services and less inequality.

Voted Labour all my life but no longer. I hold Corbyn (almost) as culpable for Brexit as the Tories and as for Labour's misogyny and anti semitism! How can I vote for a party that trashes values that I hold dear.
And as exLtEveDallas points out, I won't vote for any party that identifies a woman as anyone who says they are.
So I am one of many women who considers myself to be politically homeless.

UrsulaPandress · 13/01/2019 22:06

I’d rather spoil my vote than not vote at all.

Not voting = can’t be arsed/don’t care
Spoilt vote = I want my dissent registered

ZenNudist · 13/01/2019 22:08

Labour but only because i hatd the Tories, lib dem self destructed and i live in a safe Labour seat. If it wasn't safe id have a harder time choosing but essentially i am voting not Tory, anything but scumbag Tory.

I dont want a GE. I want a referendum on the deal. I dont trust Jezza to do the right thing by the country. Hes a brexiteer.

I want labour to get a new leader from their rsnjs of sensible serious politicians i know still exist.

Yes, this. It's the only way to feel we still have a voice.

Corbyn has turned out to be such a massive disappointment Angry

StartedEarly · 13/01/2019 22:09

I lean towards left of centre but I shiver at the thought of Corbyn and Co in charge.
Would probably look at each local candidate and their views.

I'm not convinced that "safe" seats would be safe after the last couple of years.

TheFallenMadonna · 13/01/2019 22:13

Don't know.
I would vote. I think spoiled papers only matter to those who spoil them, rather than the candidates/parties who see them.
Probably Lib Dem. Reluctantly.

terfinginthevoid · 13/01/2019 22:14

Definitely not the conservatives, their policies are destroying the social fabric of the nation, and this is the most incompetent and corrupt government I have ever seen. I WANT to vote for a party that will keep us in Europe, but that understands why so many voted to Leave, and will act to reduce inequality and create opportunity for everyone, and ensure the benefits of EU membership and free movement accrue to everyone, not just a privileged group in the South East. But I will not vote for anyone who doesn't know what a woman is (an adult human female).
So I've no idea at present.

Huffleypuff · 13/01/2019 22:21

Surely the best way to make your point re the definition of a woman is to elect the candidate who most aligns with your views on ALL matters and then contact them repeatedly on the trans debate.

It’s better to have a voice on some of the things that matter than no voice at all.

Brittanyspears · 13/01/2019 22:21

I’m usually Lab but would rather have May than Corbyn Shock
So no one!

WickedGoodDoge · 13/01/2019 22:22

SNP despite being completely against Scottish independence. With the shitstorm that is Brexit, I can’t vote either Tory or Labour and I do really like our current SNP MP (just not the whole independence stance. Grin )

SuperSuperSuper · 13/01/2019 22:26

Can't bear the thought of current inept Labour being in charge.

Can't bear the thought of more Universal Credit foul-ups for benefits claimants.

My seat is a Lab/Con marginal. :-( I am considering a spoilt vote but would never abstain.

My constituency is a Labour / Lib Dem marginal. We have a Labour MP and he's pro-remain (he had to be, given that we were one of the constituencies with the highest proportion of votes for remain). So I might vote for him despite JC and Labour's spectacular failure to take the right position on Brexit. I'm not sure though, it would depend on the candidates, their manifestos and voting records.

I'd like to see a Labour / Lib Dem coalition, but it's not going to happen. What I really want is electoral reform (FPTP is shit) but that's definitely not going to happen any time soon Sad

Hen2018 · 13/01/2019 22:42

Tactical voting here, as always, in an aim to oust our scandal embroiled Tory MP. Though obviously I’d vote against a non-scandal Tory as well.

VERY well said!

glitterbiscuits · 13/01/2019 22:43

I'm politically homeless. I live in a safe Tory seat.
My closet fit is Lib Dem
I wish they would spring into action!

UrsulaPandress · 13/01/2019 22:43

The right position on Brexit?

In your opinion.

Hen2018 · 13/01/2019 22:44

I’ve worked in elections for 23 years (including election nights) so I can tell you no candidate or anyone else reads or gives 2 hours about spoiled papers. You’d just be wasting your time.

Hen2018 · 13/01/2019 22:44

2 hoots

scaryteacher · 13/01/2019 22:45

I would get my Mum who has my postal proxy to write a very rude word across the ballot paper before she sends it back.

Beerflavourednipples · 13/01/2019 22:46

We are remarkably fortunate to have a say in who runs our country, spoiling a ballot is like a toddler having a tantrum! The politicians won’t care about the number of ballots spoiled they’ll care about those who actually voted. It would be a disgrace to democracy if only extremists had their voices heard.

I don't want to vote for any of them. I really don't. So what do I do?

Beerflavourednipples · 13/01/2019 22:48

It's not just about the trans thing for me, although the way that certain parties have reacted to certain things to do with the issue tell me an awful lot about those parties.

They all just seem so fucking useless.

smorgasborgen · 13/01/2019 22:48

Labour... How anyone could vote differently with the amount of blood on this government's hands, I don't know.

AnotherEmma · 13/01/2019 22:48

Oh and I have never voted Conservative and never will. They are all scum. In my opinion Smile
