My wife is dying

My beautiful, wonderful wife is only 33 and I'm sitting next to her bed in the hospice tonight watching her die. She's had cancer for a long time and I knew this was coming, but it's so very hard to watch.

Thank you for your support; it means a lot - an awful lot - that so many people who we've never even met are thinking of us. I've been coming back to this thread throughout the day.

My darling wife is still hanging on; she's always been so brave and I don't think she's giving up easily. She's still just asleep and breathing very slowly. She occasionally mutters something incoherent, but earlier she told me that she wouldn't know what she'd do without me. I honestly don't know what I'll do without her.

I can’t even begin to imagine how you must be feeling. Hold your baby boy tight, your gorgeous wife will always be with you both. I’m a firm believer that loved ones are always with us in spirit. You may not think it right now, and will probably think ‘this mumsnet stranger is a nutter’, but there will be times when you least expect it and she’ll show you. It may be a scent, a light, a noise, a tickle on the back of your neck.....she will show you that she is with you and your little one guiding you both and looking out for you.
