I'll start:

Vienetta's especially mint
Viscount biscuits
Nesquik milkshake

I had a childhood apparently obsessed by foods my parents declared not for daily consumption!

Heinz Coleslaw in a tin.

Croquette potatoes from Bejam.

Foonababoonalagoona · 12/01/2019 11:01

Pasta

Pinkhorses · 12/01/2019 11:02

Agree with the Vienetta

...After eight mints

finn1020 · 12/01/2019 11:02

Garlic bread, the height of sophistication.

Expatworkingmum · 12/01/2019 11:02

There was an ice cream shop near me that sold ice cream cakes. I always thought one day, when I was very rich, I would buy myself one. Went back within the last few years....they were £7!

EmpressJewel · 12/01/2019 11:03

Sarah Lee chocolate gateaux

It once came with a free cake slice as a gift - we always used a knife so a cake slice was really posh!!!

Quarepants · 12/01/2019 11:04

Angel Delight.

My mum is a fantastic cook and cooked from scratch with the healthiest of ingredients. She was ahead of her time but I was ever envious of my friends who had Angel Delight and a deep fat fryer. We also never had shop bought biscuits so I still think they are the ultimate treat food!

ThunderOnlyHappens · 12/01/2019 11:05

I've just remembered, Heinz puddings in a tin. We used to get so excited when Mum got one out of the cupboard. Might have to buy one when we go shopping today. Grin

Garlic bread
Chinese takeaway
Parsnips (we had turnip only )
Fresh orange juice
Nescafe coffee

ScreamingValenta · 12/01/2019 11:05

Vitalite margarine.

And another vote for Vienetta. I remember my sister and I begged for one as part of her special 10th birthday tea!

beforeihit30 · 12/01/2019 11:06

I came on to say Vienetta and After Eights Grin I now want some!

Also chicken kiev, and pate, because we only ever had these on special occasions eating out (usually at pub restaurants).

MorningsEleven · 12/01/2019 11:07

Anything from M and S.
Arctic roll.
Pizza.
Quiche (my aunt called it quitchy).
Vesta chicken supreme.
Fresh fruit juice.
Any fruit that wasn't an apple or from a tin.

Rubusfruticosus · 12/01/2019 11:07

Fish from the fish and chip shop, rather than just a big parcel of chips to share
Tropical fruits such as lychees and blood oranges

Sparklingbrook · 12/01/2019 11:08

If the restaurant had a sweet trolley that was wheeled to your table I thought that was very posh.

ShatnersBassoon · 12/01/2019 11:08

Liquid soap. Handwash and shower gel were aspirational.

Lavender00 · 12/01/2019 11:09

We grew up on meat and 2 veg with fruit for pudding.
I thought a pot noodle was a fancy treat - my dad was only allowed one occasionally and we'd have a spoonful each.

BooksAreMyOnlyFriends · 12/01/2019 11:11

Squirty cream

MissMarplesKnitting · 12/01/2019 11:12

Fray Bentos pies.

I still love them hangs head in shame

mynaughtylittlesister · 12/01/2019 11:12

Yoghurts! I can still remember the day my DM bought a tray of them from the market!

Igottastartthinkingbee · 12/01/2019 11:15

Little chef!

potatoscone · 12/01/2019 11:17

Sarah Lee chocolate gateaux

Yes!!!

I thought these were the poshest cakes ever and a real treat. Imagine my disappointment when I realised they were just frozen crap Grin

Rosewilliam · 12/01/2019 11:19

Fresh fruit juice (we only had it at Christmas)
Pringles
Vinetta

Itstartedinbarcelona · 12/01/2019 11:20

Stopping to eat in a service station rather than eating sandwiches in the car park. Schloer because we only had it at Xmas.

PoptartPoptart · 12/01/2019 11:23

Prawn cocktail as a starter Smile

Redcliff · 12/01/2019 11:24

Avocado with prawns and any sort of takeaway - we had four a year - one per family members birthday
