I’m talking the ridiculous ones, so not meaning to offend anyone. If you remember the story how you heard it please include that too!

Mine Grin
When I was in hospital after my c section 6 weeks ago, lady across from me was talking to a nurse. The conversation went like this-

Nurse “he’s gorgeous! Does he have a name?”
Lady “yeh he’s legend king, after my dad”
Nurse “ooh....lovely!”
Lady “yeah named him after my dad as my dad died yesterday, same day e was born”
Nurse “oh I’m so sorry!”
Lady “it’s alright happened years ago, he was stabbed never liked the bastard serves him right!”
Nurse “okay! Right you can have these pain killers...”

😂😂 know I shouldn’t laugh but me and my mum told everyone at Christmas.

Names and stories please!

Ocean-Storm. Makes me cringe every time.

AhoyDelBoy · 10/01/2019 12:01

I watched that when it aired here last year howtobehuman. Seems loxley isn’t a made up name then. Sounds very silly with the last name though which is also an ‘ey’ ending.

My son had three Amelia's in his class. Well, two Amelia's and an Amyleah. I was told off by Amyleah's mum when I spelled her name wrong on a party invitation 🙄

Eric, benedict and Hugo are the ones I've met recently and I think there awful names

purpleelk · 10/01/2019 12:09

WhyDidIEatThat, well I wasn’t in flipping Brasil speaking Portuguese and the kid in front of me was pretty confident in how his name should be pronounced. Grin

Aethelthryth · 10/01/2019 12:14

Beau. Ghastly enough for a boy; but this was a girl. I had to bite my tongue to refrain from pointing out that beau is masculine

HoyPolloy · 10/01/2019 12:17

Philissitie

Seen on our regional news programme a while ago, I initially thought it was Philistine!

Nothisispatrick · 10/01/2019 12:18

I don’t understand the hatred for Beau?

toastyarmadillo · 10/01/2019 12:23

Pirate
Amore
Montana
Lex
Mouse

That's just a few I've encountered during my children's time at school

Lobsterquadrille2 · 10/01/2019 12:26

Love Aiofe. And Caiohme.

MyFamilyAndOtherAnimals1 · 10/01/2019 12:32

Sky, River, Cinnamon, Breeze, Storm, Tulip, Paisley, Summer, Bluebell, and Rain are all BEAUTIFUL names, which give off gorgeous vibes. Unlike some of you lot on this thread... Hmm
...and although some of the others are not to my taste, I think it's lovely to name a child creatively, in a way which is fitting to your likes and lifestyle.

FallenSkies · 10/01/2019 12:35

@ohmygodtheykilledkenny was your friend from Gloucester?

MikeUniformMike · 10/01/2019 12:41

I would have guessed Amyleah to be pronounced Amy-lee-uh

mouse26 · 10/01/2019 12:42

Fleurdelis-Rose makes me think WTF every time I see it

TheTroutofNoCraic · 10/01/2019 12:45

@Lobsterquadrille2 If you plan on using those names at any point, please spell them Aoife and Caoimhe!!

Nixen · 10/01/2019 12:47

Tiger-lily

MemoriesOfAnotherFuture · 10/01/2019 12:49

Leo-Messi (like the footballer)

Lobsterquadrille2 · 10/01/2019 12:49

@TheTroutofNoCraic apologies!! And I pride myself on my spelling.

The cat next door is called Aiofe. Mine is Cordelia. A person moved in below and said "only in Tunbridge Wells".

Lobsterquadrille2 · 10/01/2019 12:50

Sorry again. Auto correct Shock

TheTroutofNoCraic · 10/01/2019 12:52

@Lobsterquadrille2 No offence taken...just didn't want you to expose any of your future children to ridicule, should they ever visit Ireland! Wink

Cordelia was my dream name as a child! Massive Anne Shirley fan!

ShagMeRiggins · 10/01/2019 13:05

Will someone explain the Robert Barr and Robert Bell hilarity? Even shortened to Bob, these names sound fairly traditional to me (but I’m not British).

AuRevoirAdios · 10/01/2019 13:13

Child at Dnephew's nursery - Prince Innocent

HalfBloodPrincess · 10/01/2019 13:17

@ShagMeRiggins
Bob Bell said quickly = bobble?
Don’t know the other one

HalfBloodPrincess · 10/01/2019 13:19

Unless it’s shortened to Rob, then it’s Rob Barr = robber?
