I’m talking the ridiculous ones, so not meaning to offend anyone. If you remember the story how you heard it please include that too!

Mine Grin
When I was in hospital after my c section 6 weeks ago, lady across from me was talking to a nurse. The conversation went like this-

Nurse “he’s gorgeous! Does he have a name?”
Lady “yeh he’s legend king, after my dad”
Nurse “ooh....lovely!”
Lady “yeah named him after my dad as my dad died yesterday, same day e was born”
Nurse “oh I’m so sorry!”
Lady “it’s alright happened years ago, he was stabbed never liked the bastard serves him right!”
Nurse “okay! Right you can have these pain killers...”

😂😂 know I shouldn’t laugh but me and my mum told everyone at Christmas.

Names and stories please!

My FIL is called Woolf. I think it's a lovely name, his mum was Russian.

HarrySnotter · 26/03/2019 17:12

I know a Woody, which I LOVE and wish I'd thought of it.

cantfindname · 26/03/2019 17:20

I have heard of a couple of Phaedra's recently. Which is fine, except that they are both boys and it is most definitely a girl's name. She was the wife of King Theseus of Athens, and had an affair with her own stepson.

Just after I'd given birth to DS I heard the following convo through the papery curtain of the wards:

Mum: I just had your mum on the phone telling me we should rethink DS' name!
Dad: err yeah.. I think they have a point.
Mum: Rex is a fine name, I don't get it.
Dad: it's just Rex with our surname, babe.
Mum: Rex Clement, what's so bad about that?
Dad: well it kinda sounds like excrement, babe.

DP and I were doing everything we could to not burst out laughing. Rexclement. I think about it every now and again and have a laugh.

So sorry Mrs Clement if you are a MNer. You were also really bloody loud talking on your phone at 3 am both nights so I'm also not that sorry.

I once worked with a lovely Chinese lad. He was a student over here and a truly lovely guy, he was beautiful and very trendy. Dressed immaculately always cool designer stuff looked like he was in a magazine. He chose his English name because he loved the tennis.... Rodger. He just didn’t look like a Rodger at all! But he was lovely and I loved him and I will never forget him

ShowOfHands · 26/03/2019 19:45

I love some of the names on this thread.

Kittykatmacbill · 26/03/2019 19:55

To carry on the Chinese boys named Kenny, I was at school with one in the 1990s, he would about 39 now. Think he moved to hongkong and became something glamourous in the movie industry....

Quite like Winnie-Sue.

katseyes7 · 26/03/2019 20:23

There was a little girl in my cousin's youngest's class called Sharlit….

katseyes7 · 26/03/2019 20:27

A few years ago, my eldest stepson rang me to ask if l'd tell his mum he'd changed his name.
His original name was Christopher. He hated it. He changed it, by deed poll, to 'Xtian'. (He's a Goth).
l refused to tell her, so he did. He's 25 now, and he's stuck with it, says he loves it. She still calls him Christopher, though.

Blompitude · 26/03/2019 21:00

I once came across French girls called Prune and Cerise.

A French baby boy in the birth announcements column sported the name Hyacinthe Bastard...
