I’m talking the ridiculous ones, so not meaning to offend anyone. If you remember the story how you heard it please include that too!

Mine Grin
When I was in hospital after my c section 6 weeks ago, lady across from me was talking to a nurse. The conversation went like this-

Nurse “he’s gorgeous! Does he have a name?”
Lady “yeh he’s legend king, after my dad”
Nurse “ooh....lovely!”
Lady “yeah named him after my dad as my dad died yesterday, same day e was born”
Nurse “oh I’m so sorry!”
Lady “it’s alright happened years ago, he was stabbed never liked the bastard serves him right!”
Nurse “okay! Right you can have these pain killers...”

😂😂 know I shouldn’t laugh but me and my mum told everyone at Christmas.

Names and stories please!

I went to school with a girl called Bacardi Confused

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 25/03/2019 11:18

"There is a Kenny as well which is fairly unusual, but he is Chinese and this is his western name."

Is it really that unusual? Kenny G, Kenny Thomas, off the top of my head. I knew someone at Chinese school also called Kenny

It is for a 9 year old!

Tiptoetiptoetiptoe · 25/03/2019 11:34

Jack-Daniel - Honestly, I thought she was kidding at first. Both names are fine on their own, but come on!

A friend’s sister is called Rainbow and I know a woman who’s child is Oceana.

At work I’ve seen the name ‘Arthur Cockshot’ I did think that was quite funny.
My sister once worked with Yvonna Drinkwater - she was from a different country and there is nothing wrong with the name, she just married into a very normal surname for this country. I’d have kept my maiden name personally.

A baby called Barclay - rather disappointingly he wasn't wearing a pinstriped babygro and tiny bowler hat

mamaoffourdc · 25/03/2019 12:08

My daughter is called winter 🌸

Nowthenforever2019 · 25/03/2019 12:08

Luckyduck88 · 25/03/2019 12:10

outpinked · 25/03/2019 12:12

Twins called Meadow and Willow and a Pedro in my DC’s school which always makes me think of either Peppa Pig or Napoleon Dynamite Grin. Also a Tulisa which is ghastly...

LittleKitty1985 · 25/03/2019 12:12

sunshineandshowers21 · 25/03/2019 12:18

it’s not terrible but a few weeks ago there was a woman at soft play with a little girl called winnie-sue. she must have shouted the name out about fifty times! 😂

RedCrab · 25/03/2019 12:31

Such a mean spirited thread! I personally don’t care for all the traditional or standard English names but I don’t go around mocking or judging other people’s names! It’s just plain nasty.

Also - a lot of people are demonstrating a lot of cultural ignorance on this thread Hmm

Soubriquet · 25/03/2019 12:39

A friend of mine has a little boy called Spike.

anomoony · 25/03/2019 12:43

Candida. Yes I know it originally means pure and white, but many people do associate it with yeast infections.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 25/03/2019 13:57

Nowthen I think the Iveigh-Mae Lacey thread was a joke? At least I hope so.

I know of a baby called Winter, which i think is pretty dreadful but the mum likes it and that's all that counts really.

RussellSprout · 25/03/2019 14:02

I know of a Winter who was born in June.

Never did quite understand that one

RedCrab · 25/03/2019 14:04

June Whitfield was born in November - what’s your point? 🤷🏻‍♀️

RebootYourEngine · 25/03/2019 14:18

I really like the name Winter. I would only call my child that name if it was born in any other season but winter because then it looks less like you had no imagination and more like you like the name.

slug · 25/03/2019 15:41

Trevor!! One for the Kiwis (and the Australians)

cptartapp · 25/03/2019 16:08

It is for a 9 year old!

And one day he won't be a 9 year old. Or is the issue that he is the only one in his year called Kenny?

stayorgonow · 25/03/2019 22:48

@Tiptoetiptoetiptoe I think Rainbow is a beautiful name - my youngest DD's middle is Rainbow, named after the rainbow we saw just after she died.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 26/03/2019 13:42

Jesus, there’s no issue @xsquared. This is a thread about children’s names - it is unusual for a child to be called Kenny. That was and still is literally my point. Just like it’s unusual for a child to be called Trevor at this age. Or Gary. Both of which have been pointed out on this thread.

(Yes I’m aware it’s titled ‘worst names’ but my first post was that I don’t know any kids with ‘out there names’.
