I’m talking the ridiculous ones, so not meaning to offend anyone. If you remember the story how you heard it please include that too!

Mine Grin
When I was in hospital after my c section 6 weeks ago, lady across from me was talking to a nurse. The conversation went like this-

Nurse “he’s gorgeous! Does he have a name?”
Lady “yeh he’s legend king, after my dad”
Nurse “ooh....lovely!”
Lady “yeah named him after my dad as my dad died yesterday, same day e was born”
Nurse “oh I’m so sorry!”
Lady “it’s alright happened years ago, he was stabbed never liked the bastard serves him right!”
Nurse “okay! Right you can have these pain killers...”

😂😂 know I shouldn’t laugh but me and my mum told everyone at Christmas.

Names and stories please!

We know of a Loki and Maui.

OH pointed out that Maui might grow up feeling he is the 'black sheep' of his family as his brother is named after a God and he named after a mere demi-god.

I know two sisters, Lyla and Lola - both nice names but quite confusing in the same family?

Finnished · 15/01/2019 11:08

Persephone as "perse" means arse in my native language (Finnish - NC for this) Grin

Camille Lydia.
Totally pleasant and inoffensive names, but together sounds like an STI.

Tuppence

I hope she doesn't meet some of the MN'ers from here. They'll insist on calling her Vulva! Grin

Some people call their children Lee. And Gary. And Ken.

MikeUniformMike · 15/01/2019 15:12

What's wrong with Lee, Gary or Ken?

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 15/01/2019 15:22

Quite a lot of that didn’t happen on this thread.

They're not Harry, George and Oscar, are they Mike? so obviously they're terrible. Hmm

LowbrowVictoriana · 15/01/2019 15:31

Exactly, Don

If I hear about La-a again I'll break something.

MikeUniformMike · 15/01/2019 15:37

Thanks Lowbrow. Harry and George are OK. Oscar is ok for a cat.

When I go to the shops I hear the parents call out the names of their children sometimes. I wonder if the little girl in Poundland was Chanel or Shanelle?

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 15/01/2019 21:04

I've just remembered DH's niece has a Lewis-John Trevor. All fine names on their own, but Lewis-John is too much like John Lewis, and Trevor is unlikely for a baby! She also has a daughter called Summer-Julie. The middle name was changeable - she had plans to call a girl either Summer-June, Summer-Julie or Summer-Augusta depending on when she was born, from before she even got pregnant. I didn't ask but assume she had similar seasonal themes if she had had a daughter at a different time of year Grin

Lycanthropology · 15/01/2019 21:49

and Trevor is unlikely for a baby

Everyone who has ever been called Trevor was a baby once. Hmm

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 15/01/2019 22:48

But how many 3 year old Trevors do you know?

xsquared · 15/01/2019 23:06

Perhaps that's why they chose it.

x2boys · 15/01/2019 23:50

Well a few years ago Alfie would have been terribly old fashioned but now there are lots of little Alfies, maybe Trevors due a revival?

GunpowderGelatine · 16/01/2019 00:47

In the town where I live there's a girl called Silver. I don't know her but I see her now and again at the shops or soft play and I know it's her because her parents are usually screaming "Silverrrrr pack it in" at her. She has very orange hair which makes her even more unsuited to her name, poor love

FinnegansWhiskers · 16/01/2019 00:58

One of my dogs is called Trevor. I met a young couple, a few months ago with their baby son. We got talking and I asked DS name. "Trevor". Ah lovely, 😊 I said. I didn't have the heart to tell them my dog was called Trevor 😁

x2boys · 16/01/2019 01:01

I had a grey rabbit called silver.

CatWhisker · 16/01/2019 01:15

Blessing, Lucky and Praise....... now that's a family who feels fortunate to have kids smile Aww lovely. It's like the name Joy. Makes you think their parents were overjoyed to have them.

SusieQ5604 · 16/01/2019 01:32

A colleague has twins, Storm and Stone. I call them Dust and Dirt....

SusieQ5604 · 16/01/2019 01:35

Beau is a common French name here in Louisiana
