I’m talking the ridiculous ones, so not meaning to offend anyone. If you remember the story how you heard it please include that too!

Mine Grin
When I was in hospital after my c section 6 weeks ago, lady across from me was talking to a nurse. The conversation went like this-

Nurse “he’s gorgeous! Does he have a name?”
Lady “yeh he’s legend king, after my dad”
Nurse “ooh....lovely!”
Lady “yeah named him after my dad as my dad died yesterday, same day e was born”
Nurse “oh I’m so sorry!”
Lady “it’s alright happened years ago, he was stabbed never liked the bastard serves him right!”
Nurse “okay! Right you can have these pain killers...”

😂😂 know I shouldn’t laugh but me and my mum told everyone at Christmas.

Names and stories please!

Most of the hyphenated names aren't that bad- they can drop the second name as they get older.
Others on this thread are horrible.

HoraceCope · 13/01/2019 10:03

Chardonnay,
what next? Prosecco?

4forkssake · 13/01/2019 10:20

Eva Toni Ann - names ok in general. But say them all together! Obviously mainly found in the Liverpool area (& not from reds fans)

The last three babies born to people of my acquaintance have all been named Isabella. Feel so sorry for them as I have a name that was trendy at the time and I was one of four in my year at school!

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 13/01/2019 10:40

If these awful names are as yooneek as they seem, it's awfully outing posting them! I once worked in a school with a Curtis Curtis, but he was a little toe rag and I became quite fine of his name, it suited him!

snowybird1 · 13/01/2019 10:55

Charleighgeorgia. No, not Charleigh-Georgia but without a hyphon. Hmm

Drivenmad80 · 13/01/2019 12:43

KirstieandPhil · 13/01/2019 13:32

Zinedine is an Arabic name.

Milan is also a common boys in Europe

pootleposeyperkin · 13/01/2019 13:35

Sisters Chilli and Pepper

TopicalUseOnly · 13/01/2019 17:45

Valentino is a great name, but what do you call him for short? Not Val, surely?!

MikeUniformMike · 13/01/2019 18:17

Tino?
I though Milan was an asian name.
Noting wrong with Zinedine if you have maghrebi connections.

Snappedandfarted2019 · 13/01/2019 18:22

Derfogail

pandoraphile · 14/01/2019 12:12

Godfrey. I'd forgotten about that one! He's about 6 months old now.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 14/01/2019 12:35

With three kids in school, the most ‘out there’ one I can think of is Summer. And that’s hardly unusual!

There is a Kenny as well which is fairly unusual, but he is Chinese and this is his western name.

I work with a Letasha. Or might be Latasha. I think it’s quite pretty although shame it’s marred by that ridiculous story!

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 14/01/2019 12:39

I checked, it’s Latasha.

BarbaraofSevillle · 14/01/2019 12:48

once heard a mum scream Zinadine

Er, like Zinadine Zidane, a former French national football player, of north African heritage I believe? I don't know anything about the popularity of the name, but it could well be a perfectly normal and popular name in some cultures for all I know.

Some of these posts serve mainly to illustrate the ignorance of different naming traditions in other countries and cultures as many of the examples given will standard names in other countries.

MikeUniformMike · 14/01/2019 12:55

The boy was probably not of North African descent and was probably named after the footballer. Zizou would be a cute name for a pet.
I wonder if there has been a recent spike in the name Geraint?

LowbrowVictoriana · 14/01/2019 13:01

Xenon / Zenon

Er, that's a real name. It's Greek in origin, popular in lots of European countries, and means coming from Zeus. My grandad was called Zenon (he was Polish). The X spelling is Spanish.

More bashing of names from other cultures... makes you look a bit stupid.

BarbaraofSevillle · 14/01/2019 13:05

I also know of a Zenon who, going by his last name, is likely to be of Eastern European origin.

Overseasmom100 · 14/01/2019 13:06

Everyone's choice what names they want to pick.

These are names at school that are different and stand out I thought..

Chardonnay (girl), Kylon (boy), Cheniece (girl) and a Dieasel (girl), Lequiox (boy) Laren (boy)

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 14/01/2019 13:34

I know of a Xvie, pronounced "Keevey" apparently. Hmm

ememem84 · 14/01/2019 13:46

I wanted to call ds Thorin. But dh vetoed it.

Currently pregnant with dc2. Hoping I’ll get my way this time! Haha.

There’s a ziggy at ds’ nursery. He’s one of ds’ friends. The only other ziggy I’d heard of in real life was a polish guy who did the admin for the college where I sat my work related exams.

NameChangeNugget · 14/01/2019 13:47
