I’m talking the ridiculous ones, so not meaning to offend anyone. If you remember the story how you heard it please include that too!

Mine Grin
When I was in hospital after my c section 6 weeks ago, lady across from me was talking to a nurse. The conversation went like this-

Nurse “he’s gorgeous! Does he have a name?”
Lady “yeh he’s legend king, after my dad”
Nurse “ooh....lovely!”
Lady “yeah named him after my dad as my dad died yesterday, same day e was born”
Nurse “oh I’m so sorry!”
Lady “it’s alright happened years ago, he was stabbed never liked the bastard serves him right!”
Nurse “okay! Right you can have these pain killers...”

😂😂 know I shouldn’t laugh but me and my mum told everyone at Christmas.

Names and stories please!

@FallenSkies Not Gloucestershire, but not a million miles away (Worcestershire)

xsquared · 10/01/2019 20:22

What's wrong with Hugo, Eric and Benedict?

I knew an Aoife at uni and she was lovely.

I remember my first day at high school and hearing the name Bernard called out. I still find it hilarious. My son has a Bernard in his year, too. As well as an Oswald. Trad. names, obviously but I can't imagine giving baby Bernard a cuddle! Reminds me of Nursey in Blackadder!

longwayoff · 10/01/2019 20:31

HippyChickMama · 10/01/2019 20:43

I remember watching the American version of One Born Every Minute and there was a baby girl that was named Kevinisha because dad's name was Kevin.

45andahalf · 10/01/2019 20:49

A friend’s wife wanted to call their child’s Thor or Wolf if it was a boy. Luckily they had a girl.

CottonSock · 10/01/2019 20:55

How the hek do you pronounce Pheobe?

Walnutwhipster · 10/01/2019 20:57

TidaQuel · 10/01/2019 21:00

@OneStepMoreFun

I actually know a Chevron (male) so maybe Chevroneece is the feminine version?

Millie2013 · 10/01/2019 21:00

rebelrosie12 · 10/01/2019 21:05

rebelrosie12 · 10/01/2019 21:06

Oh and heard a mum calling a toddler named Elvis today

Frosty66611 · 10/01/2019 21:08

@rebel haha my cousin’s middle name is Elvis. So awful!

WakeUpFromYourDreamAndScream · 10/01/2019 21:14

I know of a Honey-Blossom a Phoenix and an Indigo. All in the same school as my DS

bumpitybumpbump · 10/01/2019 21:23

I always wanted to call a boy Decimus. It's an actual name - there was a well known English (i think?) architect called Decimus - but pretty sure it would be called out on threads like these, particularly after Gladiator! We settled for naming our brutish looking Landrover Decimus instead - but if I had my baby making time again...🤣 . I would so love to shout "Decimus" across a supermarket aisle and I wouldn't give a cr*p what anyone else thought 😬.

Dorabean · 10/01/2019 21:26

Tiger-Lily

whatsnewchoochoo · 10/01/2019 21:27

@Poppylizzyrose but you see, while you'd wanted 'not real names' ..

1 every name ever was a made up name at some point
2 it's not nice when people are horrible about the name of someone you care about, is it?

Which is why I don't like these threads - they're just not nice

Ps. As for other posts I love the name Elvis. I'm sad we didn't use it as a middle name because MIL adored Elvis and it would have been a real tribute to her memory.

whatsnewchoochoo · 10/01/2019 21:33

@llangennith - you realise an opinion isn't pointless just because it's not your opinion?

llangennith · 10/01/2019 21:39

Clearly you've misunderstood my post.

fartwhenyoustandup · 10/01/2019 21:47

Just remembered, there's a Krystal-May at my daughter's school. Her parents are horrible chavs, and I don't care if you judge me for saying that. 😊
I just hope she never loses her coat ... 'Have you seen Krystal-May's coat?'
That kid deserves to get to the Crystal Dome and collect all the gold tokens.

fartwhenyoustandup · 10/01/2019 21:52

This post was just a virtue signal then?

'Oh no, I didn't want the names you all find amusing/interesting. Just the really hilarious/horrid names that I would find amusing'. Hmm

UnicornPug · 10/01/2019 21:56

My favourite ever names from my teaching career....
Scarlett-Elizabeth-Pocahontas (shorten that at your peril)
Blessingfromgod (all one word.)

and my all time favourite...
