I’m talking the ridiculous ones, so not meaning to offend anyone. If you remember the story how you heard it please include that too!

Mine Grin
When I was in hospital after my c section 6 weeks ago, lady across from me was talking to a nurse. The conversation went like this-

Nurse “he’s gorgeous! Does he have a name?”
Lady “yeh he’s legend king, after my dad”
Nurse “ooh....lovely!”
Lady “yeah named him after my dad as my dad died yesterday, same day e was born”
Nurse “oh I’m so sorry!”
Lady “it’s alright happened years ago, he was stabbed never liked the bastard serves him right!”
Nurse “okay! Right you can have these pain killers...”

😂😂 know I shouldn’t laugh but me and my mum told everyone at Christmas.

Names and stories please!

A childhood friend of mine always said he'd name his son Loki (as in Thor's brother in Viking mythology) and he did

Loki is actually Odins brother in Norse mythology - Marvel have taken quite a few liberties 😡

Balonz. Grin

Midwife friend told me of a birth she did. Asked if there was a name yet.
'Chevroneece'
'OK - how do you spell that?'
'Dunno. Just made it up.'

Number of babies with a name that occurred once in 2017
18,950 (5%) 23,982 (7%)

Number of babies with a name that occurred twice in 2017
6,216 (2%) 7,956 (3%)

Well given the above which was just from 2017, that's a lot of names only used once that year so a lot of scope for yoonique or just very unusual names

SleepingStandingUp · 10/01/2019 16:12

72 baby Loki's in 2017, 13 Thor's but a massive 72 Odin's in UK

SleepingStandingUp · 10/01/2019 16:15

I had a friend called Star at college. Her parents were hippies. Her brother was called Oak.
I know a little boy named Wolf.

Dixie

No the parents don't live in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia- they live in the South of England!

x2boys · 10/01/2019 16:29

We used to live next door to a Theon sleeping, his family were from India

sayanythingelse · 10/01/2019 16:46

Birdsgottafly Ahh I think that's the problem. Lovely name for a rabbit ... not so much for a grown woman.

Ottermum23 · 10/01/2019 16:46

Honestly most people hate my DD’s name which is Halia.

waxy1 · 10/01/2019 18:32

Tommy and his wife went to register the birth.

“We’re just going to call him wee Tommy,” said the proud mother.

I probably don’t even need to tell you any more.

uhtredsonofuhtred · 10/01/2019 18:42

Also I know a couple that named their twin daughters Ronnie and roxy 🙈

Also know a Dakota, Valencia, Louisiana and a Bonny blue

longwayoff · 10/01/2019 18:42

I know 4 which are both horribly unreasonable and sadly identifying as they really are individual and afford much merriment to school staff. So am just venting. WHY do this to your kids?

MikeUniformMike · 10/01/2019 18:47

How do you say Halia?
Is it Hahl-ya, Hal-ee-a or Hail-ya?

Ownerofalittlechimp · 10/01/2019 18:51

Idris was on our list for ds2, lovely Welsh name

JugheadismyHero · 10/01/2019 18:55

recoveryishard · 10/01/2019 19:01

I was having my nails done once and the woman next to me was pregnant- she was yelling the technician she was having a girl and was going to call her Shakira Beyoncé 🙄

Also know a few other weird ones but I'm afraid I may be outed if I say them!

Poppylizzyrose · 10/01/2019 19:53

Okay I should have been more specific, I wanted really unusual names which aren’t ever usually names...the blankets velvets ect

Some of the posts have disappointed me and my god son is called idris.

However some posters have got my theme to a tea ☕️

Idris is a fabulous name! It was also on our list for dc2 (not used because she turned out to be a dd!).
