Looking for some inspiration...

Is there something that is relatively inexpensive (£100 max) that has had an good impact on your quality of life?

I have vouchers that need used.

@Thishatisnotmine £16 on Origins website!Shock

Strawberry2017 · 31/12/2018 11:02

This thread is awesome, thanks for the fantastic suggestions x

mmmgoats · 31/12/2018 11:08

@thishatisnotmine sadly it’s now £16! although I picked it up during a 20% off and am now stockpiling. if the zombie apocalypse or rationing hits, I will have super clear skin even If I have nothing else Grin

mmmgoats · 31/12/2018 11:09

Oops cross post with @lotusbell

this thread is a nightmare, instead of cleaning my house I am adding things to my shopping basket! keep them coming though... Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/12/2018 14:57

NewName wins the thread with daffodils.

MadisonAvenue · 31/12/2018 14:58

I couldn’t be without my Instant Pot.

Which air fryer would people recommend?

winsinbin · 31/12/2018 15:04

A little plastic egg that you put in the pan when you are boiling eggs. It changes colour to tell you when the eggs are soft/medium/hard boiled. Perfect dippy eggs every time.

A Readly subscription (£8 a month). Loads of weekly and monthly magazines delivered straight to my iPad).

Kindle’s - I will never, ever again be fearful of being stuck somewhere with nothing to read. I used to take a book a day when I was on a beach holiday and my luggage weighed a ton. I travel much lighter now (although I always pack a spare kindle and charger - just in case).

MillicentBeauchamp · 31/12/2018 15:33

@Remus I agree

certainlymerry · 31/12/2018 15:42

Motion sensor bulbs - I did not know these existed . There seem to be loads, is it possible to link to those recommended?

What is a dot journal?

I'm learning so much here!!

Mumberjack · 31/12/2018 15:46

A beanie hat with a headlight that can be recharged using usb. Great for running in the dark and only a fiver.

I know they are evil tax dodgers etc etc but amazon prime meant I could do all the Xmas shopping without losing the plot.

Torsz · 31/12/2018 15:55

I didn't realise I had so many until I read this thread!
Under £100:

  • instant pot
  • soup maker
  • heated throw (I got mine from boots about ten years ago and it's still going strong)
  • echo dots
  • motion activated lights
  • electric blanket

Over £100:

  • hot tap
  • insinkerator food waste disposal
  • sonos speakers

May have to invest in some origins spot stuff now!

DistanceCall · 31/12/2018 16:38

@certainlymerry, a dot/bullet journal is a method of organising yourself (using, erm, a journal):

certainlymerry · 31/12/2018 16:47

Far too exhausting for me!!

sukieinthegraveyard · 31/12/2018 16:52

My steam mop. Very boring but has been worth every penny for cleaning our floors mostly, but also for doing windows, and cleaning mattresses after inevitable childrens bedwetting accidents!

TeenTimesTwo · 31/12/2018 16:52

teabag tongs!

UncomfortableBadger · 31/12/2018 17:07

My best Christmas present this year cost £9 - it’s called a Supoon!

It’s a skinny silicone teaspoon which you can use to get into the corners of awkward jars and containers, to get every last drop out. Perfect for Nutella and peanut butter jars Grin

DistanceCall · 31/12/2018 17:20

@certainlymerry, absolutely! I get exhausted just from reading it!

certainlymerry · 31/12/2018 18:19

susie - what make is your steam mop?

beanaseireann · 31/12/2018 18:42

A motion sensor light thingy from Lidl ( or Aldi ?)
I put it on the loo in the ensuite so you have a bit of light but don't disturb dh and don't wake up fully if you have to go in the night.
Plus you could see anything lurking in the bowl- I had read that rats can come up toilets. Shock

Magenta46 · 31/12/2018 18:47

A proper old fashioned dutch pot from an Asian shop plus an iron skillet I've had for 35 years.

beanaseireann · 31/12/2018 19:10

I've a Contigo travel mug. Leakproof and dishwasher safe

IndieRar · 31/12/2018 19:14

Fold up USB plug for on the go. Amazing! Themu.co.uk

moonbells · 31/12/2018 20:10

Ali1cedowntherabbithole can you tell me please: is the mesh for the Breville coffee machine coloured plastic, or metal?

I've got a permanent mesh machine I've had since uni but it's not going to last forever and the plastic mesh is superglued to the frame at one point... Grin
