How’s your Christmas morning going?

It’s just me, DW and DMIL this year chez nous. It’s 10:25, I’ve been up since 9:00, made DMIL her morning cuppa at 8:40 and not a movement upstairs yet. DW put her head round the door at about 9:30 to check that DMIL had had her morning cuppa and went back upstairs.

We’re having Christmas dinner this evening, so not much to do on that front just yet. I’m tempted to go out for an hour on my bike, given the complete absence of any Christmas atmosphere. Merry Christmas all!

Now I'm ill as well as ds. Cancelled our lunch and dinner plans and we're both in bed feeling like death. Sad

Right now we are watching white Christmas in honour of MIL who passed away this year. (her favourite movie and we always watched it at Christmas when she was here) I can almost see her in the chair opposite me with her cuppa..

I do miss her but memories are a wonderful thing too.

Currently hiding in the bed room at in laws house from eldest 11year old dd who has been vile all day! Ungrateful ratbag.

My 5 year old has been angelic but I've just put her to bed.

Just 10 year old fell somewhere in between the other 2 all day and dh has decided he doesn't need to parent today and has been grumpy as fuck (a few health problems but don't affect his ability to be dad!) so I'm hiding so he has to bloody deal with it all!

Other than that has been a good day as I have been required to do bugger all! I haven't done bugger all but it's nice not to be expected to do anything!

👋 waves back! Merry Christmas!

Your DH is French isn't he? What does a French Christmas dinner look like?

PenguinPandas · 26/12/2018 01:09

Similar to UK but can be goose instead of turkey. So champagne / canapes, then starters, then goose / turkey, roast potatoes, green beans, carrots, gravy. Dessert omelette Norwegian.

DH made ours today and made a very British one - prosecco/prawn starters then turkey, pigs in blankets, cranberry sauce, Yorkshires, roast potatoes, boiled potatoes, cabbage, carrots, cranberry and red wine sauce for meat, followed Yule Log DS and him made - that's French, its called Buche de Noel. It's plain cake with lots of chocolate swirled everywhere.

PenguinPandas · 26/12/2018 01:11

The dessert is like Baked Alaska

Philomensapie · 26/12/2018 21:35

It all sounds lovely! We had chicken with all the usual, the DC and I had chocolate and salted caramel Christmas cake for pudding. Xmas Grin

SantaBabycharly · 26/12/2018 22:17

We had undercooked meat , over cooked sprouts, frozen roasties that were boiled by mistake, pavlova mush , and the bottle opener broke off in the cork .[santa]

Philomensapie · 26/12/2018 22:57

Xmas Grin oh dear Santa! 😂
