Is it hideously crowded or not too bad?

adultcat · 23/12/2018 13:36

Not as bad as I was expecting! Been to Sainsburys and Waitrose for last minute bits!

Rulerruler · 23/12/2018 13:37

Much better than expected!

PowerhouseOfTheCell · 23/12/2018 13:38

Went to Costco. It was literal hell on earth, no baskets and 30+ min queues for the tills

U2HasTheEdge · 23/12/2018 13:39

Aldi was fine. I got through the till straight away.

Asda was very busy. Not as awful as I expected. I used the scan and shop thing and managed to pay in 5 minutes but the tills were pretty busy.

Stephisaur · 23/12/2018 13:39

DH went to Asda.

His top tip is to use self scan if you can. Said it could have been worse but it was still busy as expected.

Flutternotsoshy · 23/12/2018 13:41

Went to farm shop followed by local Tesco at 11 today.
Was very civilised when I was there.

Tesco was getting slightly manic when I left at about 11:50 though. So glad I didn't leave it til later

Crunchymum · 23/12/2018 13:44

Sainsbury's was fine. Quick moving queue for self check-out.

Was busier than usual but not unbearable. I

BlytheSpiritsSpirit · 23/12/2018 13:46

I'm going to Costco tomorrow. Thinking of getting there early and camping out at the door .....

Doje · 23/12/2018 13:46

Did Asda this morning. A pretty full car park, but not too crazy. Busy aisles were the fresh stuff and booze.

Cheesycheesytwist · 23/12/2018 13:48

Called into waitrose for one thing as was walking past. Gridlock in the carpark and awful inside, huge queues and frenzied cross people everywhere Shock

Jb291 · 23/12/2018 13:48

Yes I've been this morning to collect my turkey from marks and some other bits from Waitrose. It was

PrincessDando · 23/12/2018 13:49

Yes and I lived to tell the tale! I was at Sainsburys and it was pretty packed, it was harder trying to get things off the shelves in the aisle than queueing up to pay.

Forgot a couple of things and couldn't face going back in... we'll survive without them.

Poppy1968 · 23/12/2018 13:49

My Husband just went to Aldi and Lidl for a few things we had forgotten and said they were both fine, he wasn't gone long at all.

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 23/12/2018 13:49

The self scan had stopped working in both Waitrose and Sainsbury’s. luckily we got one in Waitrose before they broke. We had to go to Sainsbury’s for a few other bits and it was carnage.

We didn’t bother with Costco as only wanted Reeses and got ds2 the giant Lindt ball instead.

Jb291 · 23/12/2018 13:49

Posted too soon. It was carnage. I'm home now but it wasn't a pleasant experience

PigeonFromHell · 23/12/2018 13:52

Just tried Sainsbury's, couldn't even park, I've never seen it so busy. Came home and we'll try again later or tomorrow.

cowfacemonkey · 23/12/2018 13:54

Waitrose was terrible this morning. Only went in for tea bags! Need to go to Aldi for wine but might leave it now

Squatternutbosh123 · 23/12/2018 13:55

Asda trafford bad, they have people out on the road directing traffic...trafford centre doesn't help though. Glad I sent DP 😁

DoneAdulting · 23/12/2018 13:55

We went to M&S for when it opened this morning, it was chaos! Queue for the till went all around the store and when we left they were queuing to get IN as staff weren't letting any more people in as it was so packed! However, everyone was smiling and in good spirits. Poor staff were fraught though.

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 23/12/2018 13:56

M and S is open at 6am tomorrow. 6AM!! I'll probably be there Blush

soupmaker · 23/12/2018 13:56

Sailed through Aldi this morning. Did a big shop too. Was apparently bedlam about 10am but was quiet by 11am when I arrived. Did a quick in and out in Asda for the bits I couldn't get in Aldi. Was fine apart from the fresh veg and booze aisles which thankfully I didn't need to buy from. Got the last jar of duck fat mind. Hate to think what hell it will be tomorrow.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/12/2018 13:57

Ours was the worst we've ever seen for a Christmas food shop. Must have struck it lucky in previous years.

PuppyMonkey · 23/12/2018 13:57

I went to Morrison’s at 9.45 (so before it’s actually supposed to be open) and it was packed but perfectly manageable. The tills opened on the dot of 10am and were already about three deep.Shock

It was a nice atmosphere though. The air cadets were helping with the packing. I had to ask a woman on the next queue to move up so I could squeeze past with my trolley and she said: “ooh sorry, it’s my fat arse.” I said (which was true): “no no, just your bag.” Thus, We sort of bonded Grin and all the people behind giggled and we started chatting. It was lovely. Xmas Smile

mommybear1 · 23/12/2018 13:59

DH went to Morrisons for some baby medicine thankfully they have a separate pharmacy he said it was hell- no parking spaces, no trolleys and no baskets.

BertieDrapper · 23/12/2018 14:00

Our local M&S's are a nightmare apparently and all the ones in my local towns. People queuing for hours to pick up orders only for them to be out of stock or not have a record of them...
