Is it hideously crowded or not too bad?

It sounds a bit of a nightmare. I'm off to brave Tesco, but might leave the main stuff until tomorrow....
Puppy, you made me laugh :)

It was very busy by usual standards but idyllic compared to where we used to live GrinGrinGrinGrin

MakeUpGirl · 23/12/2018 14:01

Morrison’s was insane by 10.30 this morning. People had trolleys jammed full of stuff and queues were halfway down the aisles. Shelves were rapidly emptying, glad I didn’t leave it til tomorrow

isseywithcats · 23/12/2018 14:03

went to aldi this morning about 11am after i finished work and it was the same as any other sunday not over packed they had plenty of anything we wanted and only one person in front of us at the till

Crookedcolours · 23/12/2018 14:03

Tesco was awful.. nobody could move!

speakout · 23/12/2018 14:04

I went to Morrisons at 8am this morning, lovely and quiet, huge stocks of everything.

OH is just back from Tesco- it was just like a normal Sunday in terms of business.

PattiStanger · 23/12/2018 14:05

Obviously this is of no use to you at all unless you live near me or are prepared to drive to my local town but neither Tesco nor Sainsburys were any busier than normal a couple of hours ago.

110818baby · 23/12/2018 14:06

I'm just back, it was busy but more organised than I expected. Nobody was hoarding boxes of eggsGrin

Aneira11 · 23/12/2018 14:07

Arrived at M&S car park at 9:30am this morning and got one of the last spaces. The food hall queues were crazy and all around the aisles...I took my basket through to the tills in the clothes bit and paid straightaway.

The Tesco Extra next door was very busy, long queues at tills, but no queues at self checkout

furrymuff · 23/12/2018 14:07

I feel like I was a bit blessed this morning Grin sailed straight into a parking space at Waitrose, noticed as I was shopping that the self scan was really busy with a huge queue, but by the time I'd finished there was no queue at all! Was lovely if bloody expensive!

Heismyopendoor · 23/12/2018 14:07

I went to M and S at 6. It’s was pretty busy already. Family friend is in Costco Glasgow. Several queues going from the tills all the way back to the butchers :s

DuchessAnnogovia · 23/12/2018 14:09

Sent DH to Tesco earlier, car park was completely full, so he gave up (he lacks patience big time when it comes to traffic) and went to the local shop.

We went to Tesco at 6am yesterday, it was very busy too.

LeonoraFlorence · 23/12/2018 14:10

M&S was fine here! Took 2 DDs, left 3 at home and was in and out in under an hour. There was two things I couldn’t get but nothing important.

Justwaitingforaline · 23/12/2018 14:12

Sainsbury’s was awful. No one looking where they’re going, shoving and queuing for 30 minutes + Hmm

Rayne22 · 23/12/2018 14:12

I went to Sainsburys to collect some last min things I forgot. Got to car park for 9.30, it was pretty full already. Got to check out for 10.30 and it was pretty busy by that point in the shop and people queuing to get into car park.
Worst part is when I got home, I had forgotten to get the main thing I went in for! No way am I braving it out again though.

DailyMailFail101 · 23/12/2018 14:12

I Went to Booths, it wasn’t too bad but they didn’t have any nice desserts left so I’ve got to brave Sainsbury’s now 🙁

viccat · 23/12/2018 14:14

Only the small-ish Co-Op and it wasn't busier than usual weekends.

MyCarHasBrokenDownAgain · 23/12/2018 14:15

Our Morrisons was mega busy this morning, but it was do-able. Only fly in the ointment was some stupid bint, who, I kid you not, was letting her toddler crawl round the floor, then asking people to be careful and not run him over with their trolleys! Yes, I did do a FFS eye roll ... obviously little Tarquin had to be allowed to to explore, and was way to evolved to be expected to sit in a trolley seat for 30 minutes.

trevstation18 · 23/12/2018 14:16

My sister went to Asda and was queuing all the way to back of an aisle!
She said it was manic

CaptainHammer · 23/12/2018 14:19

@bertiedrapper I was about to say the same thing (Essex?). I’m at work so it’s not affecting me but just seen it on the local Facebook page.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/12/2018 14:20

I got into town just after 8am to get a good parking space, DH went to the gym and I pottered about (had coffee) till Sainsbury let us in for browsing (I got in about 9.45)

Hardly any trolleys , none of the shallow ones at all.

Got everything I needed (it was just last minute things really)

Not even thinking about going to the shops till next Friday Xmas Grin

cherryhealey · 23/12/2018 14:20

M and S foodhall at 10-30am and collection counter all quiet.
Waitrose at 12 busier than a normal Sunday but loads of stock and quite a lot marked down.

All done .
Fridge filled .

derxa · 23/12/2018 14:20

Horrible. I went into Waitrose for a few things. The man in front of me on the till had done self scan but it didn't work so he was hauled off somewhere else. Lots of dithering dopes everywhere leaving trolleys abandoned in the aisles.

BlueJava · 23/12/2018 14:21

M&S was absolute chaos. I have never used their online ordering service before and I never will again! We had to queue to collect order (fair enough) but they give put everything in your trolley and you still have to queue, get to the normal checkouts and pay + get a refund of your deposition for ordering online! What a mess. I was expecting to go there, pay the balance, walk away with 4-5 pre-packed bags, but no. I was really pleased I had one of my DS with me but at times it was literally gridlock.

morningconstitutional2017 · 23/12/2018 14:21

I went early to try and avoid the worst of it. I change my shopping venue around two weeks before Christmas as the big Tesco gets too manic. I parked near Lidl and walked across the road to M&S. I arrived about ten minutes before it was due to open, along with around 100 other people. The doors opened and we all pushed forward. It wasn't too bad, the aisles were very crowded and I felt sorry for one poor woman on crutches who got bashed accidentally in the ankle by a lady behind. It could have been so much worse. I got home within an hour as I didn't have much to get but it must be hell for those with small children or the elderly/infirm.
