Is it hideously crowded or not too bad?

I went into tesco for cream and a loaf igot cream and a loaf the shop was heaving though but it is to be expected really.

DragonMamma · 23/12/2018 15:07

Our Tesco was chaos but we had done a C&C - there was police directing traffic. It’s not helped by the fact that it’s right next door to a big retail park so it’s Christmas shoppers as well as food shoppers.

Tesco subbed/didn’t deliver a wedge of my things (namely my cheese Angry) but I will pop to the Co-op instead!

MrsJayy · 23/12/2018 15:08

Went to Asda yesterday with my mum it was mobbed but civillised no deranged paniking at all.

cadoth · 23/12/2018 15:08

Tesco was utter carnage and Waitrose even worse ... don't do it Confused

BertieDrapper · 23/12/2018 15:14

@CaptainHammer yep essex. The pictures look horrendous x

HollyBollyBooBoo · 23/12/2018 15:17

Tesco was fine and we managed to get everything except for strawberries!

April241 · 23/12/2018 15:18

Went out yesterday and today, carparks are worse than the actual shops which were fine.

PiggyPlumPie · 23/12/2018 15:22

Asda was fine this morning, not exceptionally busy. We used shop and scan so that helped.

BUT some genius decided that it would be a good idea to have a Pipe Band wandering around playing their bloody bagpipes! I'm not joking, they stopped in the middle of the store playing Jingle Bells!

Most of us were HmmConfusedShock!

DavetheCat2001 · 23/12/2018 15:28

Sainbury's near us was horrendous according to OH who popped in there earlier for a couple of things.

People were taking trollies to the self-service bit in desperation so the whole place was bedlam.

twilightcafe · 23/12/2018 15:31

I was pleasantly surprised by my local Waitrose. Calm, no crowds - I was out of there in under an hour.

Buttercupsandaisies · 23/12/2018 15:40

Went to aldi last night as I expected queues in the day - was quiet. Just nipped tesco for a few bits and whilst car park was busy it was only 3 deep at the tills. After 7pm is best to shop ime

constantpain · 23/12/2018 15:45

Went to M&S at opening time, queues through every aisle, bloody nightmare Although staff were giving chocolate to everyone in the que and we’re lovely as always. I queued for an hour, got home and realised a lot of the stuff I’d picked up (couldn’t reach shelves properly) go out of date tomorrow! So need to go again tomorrow. Sad

ShowOfHands · 23/12/2018 15:47

I went to Aldi and it was busy but not horrendous. However, they'd sold out of garlic, camembert, goose fat, cream, custard, brioche and a few other things. So I went to Tesco... oh sweet baby Cheesus. They were all there. I saw a toddler rammed into a display of crackers by the trolley of a woman who was screeching about cranberry sauce and frothing at the mouth. The queues were without end and people had started bickering over the last trolley. I gave up and went home for a lie down.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 23/12/2018 15:48

Asda yesterday was hell on earth especially the car park, Waitrose today was fine.

TheBaltictriangle · 23/12/2018 15:50

Went to M&S at 11:30 am and they were operating a two out & two in policy at the door staffed by the security guards. It was absolute carnage in there, not helped by a couple doing their ENTIRE Christmas dinner shop & arguing at the tills. Ffs people it is just one day & if you think your partner is a twat you screamed it all over the shop then shop online next year & have it delivered. Nobody wants to witness your common, wankerish behaviour.

formerbabe · 23/12/2018 15:50

I just went to Lidl...it was fine. Busy, but no more so than any Sunday.

grumpy4squash · 23/12/2018 16:11

I survived.

Weirdly, they'd run out of custard and only had enormous Christmas puddings left. Other that that, job done!

Just back from the massive Sainsbury's savacentre near us. It was busy but not that bad. The queues were horrendous for the regular check out but the self scan line moved really quickly.

RightOcciputAnterior · 23/12/2018 16:28

DH and I ordered our meat from the local butcher and need to go to the supermarket for side dishes, cheese etc. We are planning on turning up at opening time (6am) tomorrow. Wish us luck...

MiddlingMum · 23/12/2018 16:42

I called into Waitrose on my way back from somewhere else and it was okay. The fruit and veg aisles were packed (and one woman was on the verge of a breakdown or tantrum about a particular variety of lettuce) but other than that it was calm and like a normal weekend.

I only needed two things my brother has requested so in and out in no time at all.

thisisjustdaft · 23/12/2018 16:45

Went to Morrisons at 9.50 and the car park was nearly empty. What surprised me was the sheer number of people on foot, maybe they lived reasonably close or had parked further away just in case.

In and out in half an hour, and by the time I left it was elbows at the ready in the shop, and gridlock in the car park.

Phew. Literally the only thing I need now is some more milk, and I shall send a handy family member out tomorrow for that.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 23/12/2018 16:46

Our Sainsbury’s superstore was heaving. DH had about 10 people in front of him at the checkout - all open - and was queuing having to leave two gangways free for shoppers. I on the other hand was surprised how quiet our town shopping centre was,.

Ivegotthree · 23/12/2018 16:46

OMFG Waitrose was carnage

kittenfun · 23/12/2018 17:01

I worked today in a supermarket it was very very busy I was non stopped

barberousbarbara · 23/12/2018 17:10

I went to Asda about an hour before it shut. It was no busier than a normal Sunday but stock levels were better than normal, as the staff were out restocking shelves. The roads in town were much quieter than I expected
